I haven't been buying much NECA lately except for a few Turtles things, but I did get an absolute gem the other day that I'm super pumped about: Bon Jovi. I've been a Bon Jovi fan my entire life - literally - so I was pretty excited about this figure and it really doesn't disappoint. I would have loved for a more jovial/smiling face option. Besides asking for a level of articulation that just isn't fair to expect from NECA - I love this figure. So much fun.
The only bummer is knowing there's basically zero chance they ever make the entire band.
I nabbed Bon Jovi last week when I was out looking for sketch Raph and the newest Jada SF figures.
I agree about the face sculpts, but otherwise I love the figure.
I don’t remember if Dinosaurs got their own thread or where part of this one. Looks like Captain Impressive Earl is a SDCC exclusive. And now a Tree Pusher Earl is being spotted at Target. While they are both Earl Variants, at least there is still more coming. Hoping to complete the family at least but with Tree Pusher Earl it makes me want Roy and Mr. Richfield now too.
It's giving me hope that the line is doing well enough to keep chugging along. We do absolutely need a Roy to go with Tree Pusher Earl now. But c'mon NECA, give me some hope, complete the family. I need to at least see two more family members at SDCC...
The figures all seemed to sell out around here (Baby especially), so I'm really hoping that's true all over. This is a line that begs to be completed.
Yeah, I was set on the fact we were just getting Earl and Baby and that was the end. Getting two more Earls after so much silence seems like a good sign, even if it is just two more Earls. Getting the 4 other family members still seems daunting. Grandma is who I’d most like to see but she’s the least likely of the remaining 4. Fran and the kids are much more needed but one can hope.
Roy with Monica’s head and neck might be a fun “two pack.”
I hope those Cooper kids are easy to find. I love the other ones and would hate to miss out.
For those interested, I was listening to Randy on the Erik Nagel show and he said these two WalMart releases are just "part" of wave 2 of the Ben Cooper kids and that he's currently working on wave 7. Sounds like some licensed stuff might be coming too.
Uh, Randy also just said he's got "a bunch in the pipeline" when one of the hosts mentioned needing Jaws merch for the 50th anniversary next year. "A bunch of figures on deck for next year". God I miss him on twitter.
@cmoney If there's going to be 7 waves, there must be a lot of licenses involved. Maybe I'll just keep what I have and back off of the other horror ones. I don't need 50 of these figures, but a little variety would be really fun. Having something like Yoda, Batman and an old school clown trick or treating with a few monsters would make a cool display.

That makes sense since we've already seen a Misfits one. They have so many licenses at this point that it's probably not a massive hurdle for them to mix things up. I can definitely see some TMNT ones in the future since it seems like Viacom says yes to anything. Would Disney though? I think Gargoyles has featured Ben Cooper-styled costumes in both the show and comics. Certainly Alf and E.T. make a lot of sense.
I could see some MOTU ones too. Mattel has shown they will license out for masks to Neca already and since this isn't anything that would compete with their figures I could see that happen. I have an old picture from when I was in kindergarten where we were in a costume contest at Halloween and there was someone wearing the Ben Cooper styled He-Man costume (and a Casper the ghost next to him).
God damn, am I let down by the reveal of the Hannibal Lecter figure being an unarticulated rerelease of the old Cult Classics figure and not an Ultimate Hannibal Lecter. That was one of my most anticipated upcoming releases since the box was teased. I hope this isn't a sign of NECA trying to move back toward offering more staction figures in general again. I didn't see pricing, but I assume they'll be trying to get the same $35+ price point as an Ultimate for this nearly 20 year old figure. Awful.
Hannibal Lecter is only one figure, so I doubt it's indicative of any kind of trend. Obviously it was easier to bring out a previous offering instead of spending money developing a new product. But maybe if this does well, they'll see a market for more Hannibal merchandise. Not sure how many distinctive looks he had which would make a good action figure, though.
@presidentjuggernaut They sculpted new heads and included the base and everything, pricing doesn't get cheaper just cause it's an older mold. And I doubt this is any indicator of anything other than they still had the license and this is what they were allowed to put out. They've been putting a bunch of older stuff out again for new collectors. It's fine, it saves them money in places, and we still get plenty of new IPs and toys elsewhere.
I hope they reissue Hannibal on the gurney. I don't see any amount of articulation making the straight jacket work anyway.
