I was looking at pictures again, and realized what seemed so familiar about Hylar - his helmet reminds of the new Dune Sardaukar, and his linen cloth goods definitely echo the Freman. So I think I'm in for him given this connection I made that I can't unsee. Add some real good weathering to him and his robe, and I think he's a good partner with Kurn Ray. Now, if only he had the other lady's cape...
Hylar and the Buzz-Off homage both look very cool.
I like the desert color Space suit and the Buzz-off…
but it’s hard to get jazzed about the rest of the line when I already went all in on the last Oxkrew wave and don’t have them in hand yet, how do I know I want their (admittedly pretty sharp looking) repaints if I haven’t gotten to handle the originals?!
I’m gonna roll the dice on most of these and see if, after I get the wave 1 in hand and if I like those, I just pick them up in a future 20% off retailer sale… and if I miss out I miss out, but I can’t be doubling down on figures I’m not even sure I like yet just because it looks cool in blue.
but yeah, Buzz-off and Desert Space Suit (I will buy every fricking version of this space suit!) love ‘em, will pre-order those at least!
Man.... how do I not order the Buzz off homage? I moved all the way out on Cosmic Legions - though I haven't been able to sell off my Wave 1 figures yet (boo) - except for the Whiplash homage. I wasn't planning to buy anymore, but... Buzz Off. He's one of my very favorite MOTU figures so I don't think I can resist. They'll get me again if the do a Clawful homage in a future wave too. Sigh.
Other than the alternate masked head, the Buzz-Off homage looks like it fits right in with Mythic Legions. (Actually, overall he looks more ML than CL to me.)
I keep wanting to scale back on Legions because of space but lately they've been putting some really weird and cool figures out. I may actually do the all-in on this wave. Although it's hitting at the same time as a few things. Definitely want Hylor and Kogg, Bunji is amazing, trying to figure out why AhgCha is 48 bucks though. And the Buzz-Off homage is a must-get no matter what.
Maybe I'll split the difference - get the four I want most pre-ordered and hope the others are available on BBTS so I'm not paying for it all up front. That's the thing that gets me with this line, the up front a few years early part (I get why they do it but it stings on the bigger waves).
Trying to figure out why AhgCha is 48 bucks though.
I'm pretty sure it's the poncho that's driving up the price. It has way more complicated edges to sew than the other ponchos we've seen so far like the arm holes in the front, the three panel collar, and that stylish little pocket on the chest. It really is a beautifully tailored piece of fabric craftsmanship that I would wear myself if it came in human sizes and proportions, but if soft goods aren't really your jam, I can see how this would feel unnecessarily expensive.
@runestonecowboy That makes sense. I don't mind paying extra for a new component or such, just did the "zoom in and look for details" thing since he's a normal sized creature. Might be the first time the lore sold me on a figure though - I was gonna get Bunji for someone else to ride, but when I saw the pics of them together I was like--okay fine, I'll get the little blue weirdo too.
I was gonna go all in myself but doing the math, you're not saving much before shipping ($17) and I'm still not really into Jobara or the accessory set, so I'm grabbing 3 figures now and will just pick up the rest on BBTS or at a show down the line.
I don't think we're in any danger of Cosmic Legion figures suddenly becoming super scarce and highly sought after on the secondary market. They're still selling the first two waves at 20% off at BBTS.
As for AhgCha — the switch from brown to blue makes such a big difference for me. Had no interest really in UkHa but the bluish skin on AhgCha changes everything. Looks like a cool marine creature or something.
Kinda not surprised to see these listed on BBTS today with less of a markup compared to Mythic Legions. Regular figures are $5 less than the usual $49.99 and the deluxe offerings are $54.99 (except for Kogg).
Factoring in POL shipping, these look to be pretty much what you'd pay at Store Horsemen, if not a little less.
If BBTS is going to mark these up less than Mythic, I may switch over to them. I'm happy to give BBTS my cash and not pay up front for figures I'm iffy on in the future.
I ended up getting most of the wave. The desert planet vibe hooked me more than the other waves. I'd still love some humans in this line but I'm sure that's doable with some head swaps from Mythic.
Grabbed a Heavy Gunner. I’ve kind of stumbled into collecting these space suits thanks to how different and bright the colors are with each version. The only one I haven’t gotten is that matte grey one from the first wave. Too plain.
I'd kinda of lost steam with this line a bit (with 4H in general) but got Ph’shr Ryyce from BBTS and opened him up yesterday and he might be my favorite figure in a while. Realizing what I want from this line is more near-human faces - I want to connect with the character more and while their aliens are amazingly sculpted, their human(ish) faces are so detailed and interesting I want to mess with those figures more and build around them.
I know 4H leans heavily on their customizer customer base, but I wish there were more options to pick up figures without a ton of limb or torso swaps. Hands are great bu tI generally pick a look and that becomes the guy. Tons of wasted parts make me feel bad. (That latest two-pack would be an insta-buy with half as many spare parts.)
I bought the original Adventure People figure to stand next to Ph’shr Ryyce, he’s such an awesome idea for a figure.
Looks like the two exclusives from the two-pack are going up individually on Monday - I've had the set in my cart off and on for a few days on BBTS and hesitating because it's WAY more stuff than I want (I mostly want the red-skinned human figure... the alien would be nice to have but all the extra limbs aren't needed). Reckon I'll just grab them from 4H directly so I don't have extra parts lying around. Weirdly, they would've sold me on the fancy two-pack if the heads had been more universally usable. Paying extra for the Mythic two pack was easy for me cos I can use almost every extra head on someone else.
