I don't feel like Cratchet or Tiny Tim are all that necessary to this subline or that they're going to be going all that deep with it. If they do a bedclothes Scrooge I feel like it'll be a figure with a few heads, and since he doesn't really need that many accessories, likely packed in with one of the ghosts that doesn't need to come with much. Christmas Present seems like it'll be the most ornate to do, so I'd assume either Past (since I forget if it shows up as a fairy or a small child or whatever since the depictions vary in the films; I forget which the book had) or Future, since that can be a lot of Reaper reuse. I'll reiterate that my excitement beyond the obvious line lies mostly in that now 4H can start making pirate figures!
Yeah, the Cratchets are an extreme long shot since this isn’t a Christmas Carol line but a subtheme for, presumably, the next 4 years. The 3 remaining Spirits and Scrooge are likely all that’s happening.
I do hope Marley gets a retailer exclusive version. Perhaps green or entirely translucent with some subtle paint details to make him a bit more ghostly and not just a clear figure? I like the current figure but wouldn’t mind seeing another paint scheme on him. That one could be Robert Marley for those wanting a Muppets nod.
Not sure what they could do differently with the Red Death but the Monkey King could probably also see a repaint. Maybe just a color swap on Red Death reversing the reds and blacks?
Dear god help me if this line ever ventures into Hindi or Greek myth. Will need a 2nd job.
@jtmarsh agreed. Not even sure if I'd be interested in Scrooge, to be honest, but if they do the ghosts first and they all look awesome then I'd be more inclined to throw him in. Give him a horrified face and the ability to cower in fear so I can position the ghosts condemning him or something and they may get me. Or, and it seems like it makes the most business sense, pair him with Past and sucker folks in that way.
Have the Horsemen confirmed they're doing more Christmas Carol figures? I have a hard time seeing the Horsemen sticking with a single mythology or literary canon for years. 4H is built around modular parts reuse so I'm not sure how Christmas Past, Scrooge, or either of the Cratchets would fit into this brand, either. It's nice that everyone is happy with Marley, but I'm just surprised so many people think we're getting more Dickens figures.
@runestonecowboy I don't believe they've confirmed anything. I think there's an included comic with Marley that could be read as implying they intend to do more. There are some rather natural pairings for Marley and most toy companies would take advantage of that. Having the next couple of years set seems like an advantage for 4H, not a hindrance. Plus they could always expand the line if they want to. I don't think the modular approach of Mythic Legions is of much concern when it comes to any figures that could pair with Marley. Their Santa is basically armored up, but it doesn't matter since they covered the figure in robes. They could easily approach any other figures in a similar manner, and likely would, since robes are a part of Present, Future, and Scrooge if they want to go that far.

Figures based on mythology (and Greek myth in particular) are one of my grails. A third-party company put out a Zeus somewhat recently, but I skipped it. I can't quite remember why, but I think I didn't love the design (I think of Zeus as a tankier guy) and I was concerned that I'd have a lone Zeus on my shelf.
Marley has arrived! He's still pretty cold so I haven't moved him much or tried to put the shackles on him. They're pretty intense though and there's a surprise in the safe. His backdrop actually includes an image of Scrooge, so that might actually lower the chances of getting a figure of him in the future. As for the other ghosts, the end of the included book basically guarantees we'll be seeing them in the future.

They would obviously have to start making more pieces. but they are pieces that could see reuse in both the Mythic and Cosmic lines. I would want fairly traditional representations; wouldn't want an Athena that looks like a video game. Still could have flourishes and I'd buy them. I thought of it because of the Monkey God could easily see some reuse into a Hanuman figure. I love Greek myth but the Hindi mythological characters are just too cool visually. Of course there might be a slight complication that those mythological characters still have adherents whereas Greek ones don't. (Well maybe a few idiosyncratic ones somewhere) Still; it isn't as if Hinduism is shy about their visual representations of their gods. They are everywhere and on every thing.
Just think of their versions of Kali, Ganesh, Pan, Dionysus, Cerberus
@runestonecowboy not directly, no. I agree with Misfit that it’s largely the inclusion of the mini comic and calling it Stave 1 (there are 5 total in the book) that largely implies they’ll finish them all. Staves 2-4 are the three visiting spirits with 5 essentially the epilogue with Scrooge’s redemption. Assuming we get the three ghosts for their respective chapters, Christmas Past would be next in line, and presumably for Christmas next year. That ghost seems to have the widest variety of interpretations but is usually fairly small and may not be the ‘main’ figure of a set but more like a limited articulated ‘pet’ type figurine with Scrooge potentially being the ‘main’ figure instead. Although if that happens, the figure for Stave 5 is less clear as Scrooge would make the most sense for that one. Just not sure if two separate Scrooge releases would do all that well so I’m inclined to think we’ll get either just bedclothes (mostly soft goods) or a deluxe release with business clothes parts so that either look is possible.
Monkey King showed we didn’t need a seasonal holiday like Halloween or Christmas for a release so even if the next 4 Christmas themed figures are from a Christmas Carol, there isn’t anything preventing other figures from being released. A literary pirate like Long John Silver or Captain Hook could easily be in the works based on the new parts with Marley and could drop at any point in the year. This line has no real rhyme, reason, or limitation. They’ve kept it broad with folklore, mythology, and literary classics. We could just as easily see a Bigfoot as we could Hercules or Frankenstein. I think it’s whatever suits the Horsemen’s fancy at this point.
Technically they could do several versions of Scrooge:
-counting house/street Scrooge
-“bedtime”/ghost-companion Scrooge
-young/Fezziwig apprentice Scrooge
-redeemed Scrooge
and more.
True but I don’t see them doing that many versions of him. One is probably it unless they can get creative with a retailer exclusive variant.
I've had plenty of time to mess around with Marley and I am more than impressed. The paint job is exquisite and the sculpt is worthy of it as well. The shoulder hinges on my figure were pretty stuck, but nothing hot water couldn't fix. He gets pretty good range out of the ball-jointed waist and everywhere else basically provides enough for such a character. The harness appears to disconnect at the bottom rear, and like the belt on last year's Father Christmas, it doesn't stay attached very well and is rather annoying. I secured it with some gray tack which works fine, but I wish they had found a better solution. The chains look awesome though and every lockbox has a removable top if you want to stash something inside (like one of the many included extra skeleton keys) you certainly could. The alternate head looks better in person, but still isn't something I'll likely utilize. Really fun figure though, and putting Scrooge on the backdrop does mean he could work as a standalone figure for those not interested in amassing a collection of A Christmas Carol themed figures, but he could obviously be part of a potential larger display if you so desire.
Cool pics! I keep hitting refresh but no luck on shipping. Let me check again… 🤣
The gift in the safe is pretty insane. Almost enough to make me want to get him. My local mythic legions importer store has him for $115, so it's way too much for me. But that extra is awesome.
