Boo!
My tracking estimated today, but last scanned was this morning and still half a continent away.
Vaguely related, I just finished "Zeus Grants Stupid Wishes". It's advertised as a no-bullshit guide to world mythologies. It's a fairly entertaining and silly reading of the most popular creation myths from several different religions.

Anubis and Bastet came back in for purchase, so glad I keep tabs on TNI.

There's so many nice little details to the sculpts that I don't think were really picked up in photos and vids. I am over the moon with how beautiful these figures are.  So many intricate paint apps too.  These are great.  If they do single releases of these two for the retail versions, I would gladly pick up extra Nubis for like, minions or something.

They’ve yet to NOT do a FO release as a retailer exclusive later so I’m sure these will get the same treatment. I’m betting on all black bodies for them on that release. Hard to say about any other color changes to the outfit though.

Mine was originally supposed to be here today as well when they first shipped but they quickly changed to Tuesday after their first location scan. Hasn’t updated in days so I’m hoping it’s just a long haul from PA to UT but it’s starting to worry me with the lack of change.

Single elbows and knees in 2024 feels like a hate crime, especially at these prices.

Sometimes single elbows and knees are fine if they can do more than 90-Degree (and a lot of Four Horsemen figures can). There are tons of accessories, intricate paint apps, great looking package. 120$ for these two is a great deal.

Like...it's not a Spider-Man or Daredevil figures, that are required to have great articulation. Aesthetic is also important. Black Series figures have single elbows and knees but almost no accessories or paint. And I know...some people will buy 4 shitty looking Mcfarlane Batman or Marvel Legends figures rather than this two-pack. Thats a real hate crime.

Disagree. I stopped buying Star Wars figures when they regressed in articulation. Other companies can offer premium sculpt, accessories AND articulation at reasonable prices. I want my action figures to be able to pose and play to my heart’s content. That *is* the aesthetic appeal of an action figure. Well integrated articulation is not sorcery or rare. These could have it if the creators wanted to and it’s a valid criticism that they don’t. I also fucking hate the “they’re not spider-man” type arguments. All able bodies can bend their elbows and knees, ffs.

Double joints are not as important to how good a toy is or can be as some people think they are.

For me, double-jointed elbows and knees are probably the most important points of articulation. I make a huge concession whenever I buy a figure without them. It's the biggest reason I don't own any 4H figures.

Single-jointed elbows can get close to replicating a double-jointed elbow. I've never seen a single-jointed knee that can replicate a double-jointed knee.

All that said, it's one of the easiest changes for a company to make. We're not talking about a second torso joint or butterfly joints. It's wild that 4H has gone so long without them.

After so many years of a certain design and esthetic, making changes to the articulation scheme could upset long time collectors. Innovation is always important but even in lines like Marvel Legends or Black Series, early figures and recent figures can clash in looks. I think of the Horsemen and sneak in new articulation where it makes sense and looks good, great. If not, I’m not too worried about it at this point.

They showed up early!

If anyone wants to watch me fumble through a live review (even if you already have them), I go live on YouTube in 26 minutes! I'm not ready! 😆

The "I'm not ready" was supposed to be a joke, like I'm nervous because I've never done this before, but then my laptop decides to do effing Windows updates... 😒

It could just as easily bring in more fans who recognize the state of the game has changed since 2005?

I personally dislike double jointed elbows and knees for most characters. Spiderman, Batman, any ninja-like character needs them, yes. Apart from that, more fluid shoulders and wrists are more important to me than any other thing.

What the 4H need are ballpeg shoulders, like Mcfarlane/ Revoltech does them (I haven't seen mcfarlane do them well). I have a Revoltech medieval knight (kaiyodo gothic field armor) and that guy has such amazing mobility in his shoulders, that it doesn't matter that he only has single elbows. He can do such amazing two handed sword poses that no other figure in my collection can.

The Valiant Knight has great articulation, they did a great job updating it, but it still feels stiff without more balljoints. There's a lot of two handed sword poses that he can't do, or he can but doesn't look natural doing it. They elso limited the inward motion of the elbows with the large elbow armor he has. Ballpeg shoulders, wrists, etc, add fluidity, flexibility and ease of posing like nothing else. Hasbro's butterfly shoulders don't come close to what a real ballpeg and some good design can do. The 4H could easily add an inner ballpeg to a new torso, where the shoulder peg could connect to, that's roughly how revoltech did it with the knight. Add a sculpted cap to cover the joint and it would be golden.

They won't do it of course. But that's what I've seen in my years of collecting, for sword wielding characters, the shoulders and wrists are what is most important. For the elbows, as long as they go 90° and can easily bend inward (across the torso) they don't need to be more than that.

I bought that figure just for the flail!  It's a sickness I tell ya!
