Thanks for posting that, bills! Great to hear that the famous pint might see the light of day! And glad to hear that Saruman at least comes with the Palantir. I hope he comes with an alternate hand that can hold it, or at least a hand that's affixed to the Palantir. Though it looks like maybe his left hand, which they have his staff leaned on, might be able to hold it?

I wouldn't mind a Build-A-Balrog. Seems like, knock on wood, there's plenty of figures planned, so even if it takes a good 10-15 figures, I think it's doable.

These are looking great. I think the only thing more impressive than the look of the figures is Zach's mutton chops! 🤣

Poor Bill, even when Toybiz did like 8 horses for their line Bill got left out.

I don’t want a Balrog build a figure, no way that would work without either being severely under scaled, or it would take away the accessories and effort of the carded figures, like the first few waves. If they want to do it as a statue great, it will be in scale and look amazing no doubt.

Hmm, I suppose you're right, Arondir. Probably best leaving the Balrog as its own entity. That's probably the best way to do most of the beasts and larger figures. I do plan on picking up the Cave Troll whenever it hits, and I'd totally pick up a statue/Gallery of Treebeard, Fell Beast, etc.

The horses are definitely a bummer, but there are companies out there that make horses for figures. McFarlane made a nice black horse, and the old ToyBiz ones might be a little underscaled, but if you just pose your figures beside them instead of riding, then it may work. Not sure how they'd look next to a Four Horsemen-made horse, but I have their Headless Horseman. Maybe I'll pull out Aragorn and place him next to it to see.

It's been a struggle for me to find horses, but I finally found some that scale well. They're not articulated, but (IMO as a horse girl who knows what humans look like on horseback) the Collecta Deluxe horses are pretty much perfect. They're slightly bigger than Breyer Classic 1/12 scale horses, which I find too small for DST LOTR, Witcher, and Legions. Can't figure out how to attach photos in the forum though.

Thanks for the pics, Spinc and Zach! Those all look pretty good. I bet the Ringwraiths would look cool on the Headless Horseman's horse, with the red eyes and all. I have Roach as well, but he's being taken by Batman Begins Scarecrow currently. Good to know that it won't be too hard to track down a good horse for the display if need be!

The new figures look really great. Merry and Pippin are the versions they should be (making jacket-less Sam even more dumbfounding), and completing the Fellowship is a big deal.

There are more LotR characters to get to for sure, but maaaaaaan, I would love to see some movement towards Thorin and Co. with Bilbo. It has never been done for any iteration and is the largest missing piece of my overall Middle-earth collection.

Not a fan of Bridge Direct?

Only making a few of them in a crappy format absolutely doesn’t count. As an attempt or a gotcha.

Not trying to "get ya". Asking a genuine question. Maybe you didn't know about them or remember. They were pretty forgettable.

Or maybe I misunderstand your meaning.

Yes, they were pretty bad. Even the 6 inch scale--crap.

As a big fan of the Toybiz Lord of The Rings figures when I was a kid, I was sorely disappointed with the Bridge Direct The Hobbit figures. We never got all the Dwarves in 6-inch scale. If I recall we only got Thorin in the 6-inch scale. They didn't even do 6" versions of Balin & Dwalin. I also remember the Smaug, which they released late was a joke.

I only have their Bilbo from the 6" line, and I think it's honestly pretty decent. Likeness is there, sculpt and paint are great, and he even has decent articulation (for 2012). I have a few of the 4" line, and those are not so great, Thorin specially has very poor articulation.

But they were all sculpted by Gentle Giant, which is now who is making the DST Lotr figures.

I would be very surprised if we see anything new for NYCC, but has anyone seen the DST booth?
