@arondir Thanks for the pics of the troll! I think it looks pretty dang good. I do wonder if maybe the rock base is playing into it seeming oversized. Without that, I'm sure it wouldn't be as bad.

I did actually get my cave troll delivered, but a little family emergency popped up that required my attention and money, so alas, I had to return the beefy boy. Hopefully it'll go on sale at some point in the future, as I'd love to have it, especially once the Fellowship is complete soon!

Which reminds me. I'm sure the explanation is buried somewhere deep in this thread, but what ever ended up happening with the Gandalf the White that was shown off alongside Merry and Pippin? I know the plans for the wave changed, but I hope the figure wasn't scrapped altogether. Granted, when I think Gandalf, I think of him first in his gray robes, but I think he spends more time in the trilogy in white, so it's definitely a needed look of his.

Certainly they didn't scrap Gandalf the White, and he just got pushed back.  He's essentially the most popular character in the films and most likely a good seller.

Glad to hear that the Eowyn's scabbard will be attached, and I hope the cloak and shield won't be canceled because of the head of the Fallen Beast.

We are not cancelling the cloak and shield. In fact, there may be one more weapon, I will wait for a sample to confirm. Fell Beast head is NOT happening. I immediately pulled the images from our website.

Gandalf the White is happening, I believe he is now in Series 10. Not 100% sure.

@msword I like that Gandalf may be coming in S10... but that means that S9 will be the only The Hobbit figures for now.  I just want all the characters.... All.Of.Them.

Yes, Series 9 is two "The Hobbit" figures. I've seen one, it's awesome.

Might we see them at the summer cons?

updated wave guesses:

9: Bilbo/Galadriel

10: Gandalf the White/Mouth of Sauron

I think series 9 might be Thorin Oakenshield and Bilbo.

I only ever watched The Hobbit movies once (though I saw I think the middle one playing at the gym recently), but I remember not connecting to Thorin AT ALL. I don't know if it was the actor, the writing, the whole combo, but Thorin I just did not like. Anyone else have that issue?

Glad to hear Gandalf is still on the table. As for the Hobbit wave, I think the most logical guess would be Bilbo and Thorin. Those are pretty much the only totally necessary ones. I'd love all the dwarves and Elves, of course, but other crossover characters like Gollum and Gandalf are easily swappable, since their designs don't really change that much between the trilogies. Galadriel and Elrond are happy accidents in that they could technically be done no matter which trilogy is being focused on. It's a shame that a swappable head couldn't be done for Bilbo so we can make a Freeman and Holm version in one. I guess it technically could be done, but acquiring 2 likeness rights for 1 figure doesn't seem feasible. I hope we get a Holm version eventually.

Agreed with Arondir that a logical inclusion with Gandalf the White would probably be Mouth of Sauron, though I definitely wouldn't turn down a Theoden either.

Before wave 8 was announced we were told there were 2 female characters in development, and only up to wave 9 was planned. Eowyn was one of those, so the other woman would be in wave 9, the Hobbit wave. By process of elimination that leaves us with Galadriel or Tauriel. I agree Bilbo and Thorin make a ton of sense, but my guess is based off info we were given. It could be Thorin and Galadriel.

of course, plans could have changed since then as well.

@arondir While I wouldn't mind a Tauriel figure eventually, I'd not want her yet.  Not before some others, for sure.  I hope that wave 9 is Thorin and Azog.  What a great pairing that would be!  Bilbo makes the most logical sense to pair with Thorin, but I'm hoping.

Gandalf the White with The Mouth of Sauron would be amazing... but I can't see MoS coming so soon in the line.  A Gondorian army builder with Gandalf?  Eomer?  Theoden?  They'd all work for me.

I would also love to see Galadriel, but not in "The Hobbit" wave, since she works for both trilogies.  GtW and Galadriel wave?

It’s low key insane it’s been 2 years since the last army builder was released.

I don't think the army-builders have been lighting up as much as you may think. Because they're not main characters, many collectors figure they can skip them. The customers buying multiples just about makes up for that. We do not currently have any planned, as far as I know, but once we've knocked out a few more main characters, anything is possible.
