@presidentjuggernaut What good would that hinge be if when you move it, the sleeves look totally unnatural/defy gravity?
@grinman I dig your custom Helm’s Deep Aragorn. What did you use for the chainmail? I’m always looking for a good 1:12/10 scale chainmail solution.
Zach will be interviewed tomorrow evening (7:30 ET, 2/7) on the Unboxing Art YouTube channel. Usually folks can ask questions, if anyone has anything they want to know about their LOTR line or other DST products.

Yes, come watch the show! I try to answer questions here as I can, but the more the merrier on YouTube.
I suppose we could have articulated Saruman's elbows, so he could have held his arms out straight, good suggestion. I'll pass it along for the next one.

There are many potential poses beyond “arms resting at sides” and “elbows at 90 degrees.” What if you wanted to go really crazy, and even have an arm extended forward? I expect an articulated action figure in 2024 to be able to handle that.
Man, robes really are the bane of a lot of toy company's existence, aren't they? 🤣 If they're plastic, they're too rigid and can't get decent or natural looking poses. If they're soft goods, they're usually too loose and billowy or bunch up in places or whatever. I really do wonder what the answer is. Didn't some of the old ToyBiz figures mix the two? Like softgoods skirts and plastic sleeves, or vice versa? Or am I misremembering? I do wonder if a softer plastic was used for robes to avoid the "traffic cone" look, and soft goods was used only on the forearm sleeves, if that would fix it? Question is, is this doable in a way that not only looks good, but is affordable for both company and consumer?
Some company out there is gonna perfect the action figure robe, and it's gonna change the game.
Yeah robes are not easy to work around. I think I like Diamonds’ idea of the swappable arms and if they are able to add a joint at the elbow that adds the articulation back in it is about as good as it can get. For Saruman the lack of articulation is fine with me but for a 2.0 Gandalf I would want both.
Got my shipping notification from BBTS for Sauruman and Sam. They are In Stock on BBTS if anyone needs them.
I'm so excited to get these. Anytime you get a figure of Christopher Lee, it's a victorious day.
On the Unboxing Art YouTube video, Zach said that the wave 8 figures may be shown in late March and that they include a hero, first seen in Two Towers, and a villain, first seen in ROTK. He wasn't 100% positive if those are the correct movies. Gandalf the white is pushed back until after wave 8. I think DST has said wave 8 includes a female character. My guess for wave 8 is Eowyn and Gothmog. It could be the Witch King, but I think he will be the con exclusive.

You've got to be right about Eowyn, which would be absolutely amazing! I hope, though, that she's in her Dernhelm outfit. My guess would be either Denethor or Witch King for villain. Wormtongue if the movies were mixed up.
I’m still holding firm for Eowyn and Witch King for wave 8. If we want to get specific the Witch King first appeared in FOTR but not in armor until ROTK.
the con exclusive is a previously released figure with more accessories, and “may not be for everyone” I don’t think that fits the witch king.
It would be great if it would be the Witch King. But at the same time, I wish DST would think more about scabbards being put on them when they do some characters with swords.
We are actively trying to make sure that future figures have their scabbards attached.
@msword I know you had mentioned Merry & Pippin might include accessories for other figures. Any chance of throwing in a cloak for Frodo with a future release? I put Sam's on him, just to check it out & I much prefer the look of the Hobbits that way.
So I ordered Saruman and he arrived the other day. I tried to switch out his left arm so he could hold the palantir and the arm that came attached snapped off... totally defective.
I ordered a replacement... and the same damn thing happened!
