Multiple female characters are coming!

Sorry people don't like Sam's jacket-less appearance, I think the goal was to capture their most iconic looks. Surprised to hear concerns about Saruman's likeness, though.

From what MSWord has said in the past they tried to do the most iconic version of the characters, to me, Sam throwing down against Shelob or storming Cirth Ungul is the perfect choice.

of course I’ll be annoying and say if you want more versions of characters you need to buy what’s currently available so the line can continue. We know there is 1 reworked character coming in the next wave, but I’m 90% sure it’s the Witchking. But we have no idea what’s coming after the first Hobbit wave in 2025.

my Amazon orders for Sam and Saruman are also stuck in limbo, I would rather order from DS direct but the shipping on their website is a killer and they won’t let me pre order series 7 and the cave troll together for some reason.

edit: I just cancelled my Amazon orders and got them from DST direct. I had some gems and got them shipped for cheaper than Amazon. It’s probs worth it to be a DST radical at this point as well, the free shipping and discounts on the cave troll and the next waves are going to pay for itself.

I can’t wait for mine to arrive! Hoping they get here by the end of the week.

Do we know if Merry and Pippin’s height will be more in line with Sam’s or Frodo’s? I am hoping that Frodo and Sam’s height difference is not to jarring in person.

I totally understand the reasoning behind Sam's look.  It's even my preferred look!  I'm just anal.  It probably won't matter once it's on the shelf.  I'll be fine.

... and multiple female characters!  wahooo!!

@normdapito Nice!  Thanks for sharing the pic, they all look great standing there together.  I'm glad to hear Sam comes with so many accessories.

I have them pre ordered at BBTS.  Hopefully they come in soon.

I did always feel Sam was bigger than Frodo, but that might just be in my mind lol.  Nevertheless, Sam being a bit taller looks right to me.

I cannot wait to get Sam and Saruman from BBTS! Their shipping usually doesnt let me down, but seeing others get theirs and BBTS not budging on shipping date is starting to worry me!

That said, they both look awesome from what I’ve seen. However, the inclusion of another un-attachable sheath is baffling. I really hope this is phased out in the coming waves, because other than that I would call these figures perfect!

Any confirmation if Merry and Pippin will have swords?

Still no movement on my Sam and Saruman from Amazon, but I'm waiting patiently.

I did see Sam at a comic shop yesterday for a slight markup. He looked nice, though. The likeness was really good, and the amount of accessories was really impressive. Would've totally been worth the slight markup, but I decided to be good. I can understand wanting the cohesion of the Hobbits and their jackets, but it doesn't bother me that much. This is probably the look I think of when I think of Sam, and Frodo's is arguable- it's either the jacket, or the vest with the cloak. Either way, it's really not a huge deal for me; the bigger deal will be how some of the Fellowship will have their Elven cloaks and some won't. 🤣  But I'll live.

My patience (and wallet) lost the battle.  I cancelled my Amazon orders and just went ahead and ordered directly from DST.  The shipping cost wasn't too bad and seemed worth it in favor of anxiously checking Amazon for any updates.

As far as future figures:

Witchking seems like the most most likely figure as far as a "reworked" one goes.  Having Eowyn as the first female alongside him, makes the most sense.  Gandalf the White may appear somewhere in there.  My prediction for the first 2 Hobbit figures are Thorin and Azog.  Bilbo seems obvious, but DST kicked off this whole line with Gimli and Legolas, not Frodo.  And having 2 waves in a row with 3 lil' hobbit characters, then doing another hobbit so soon, i just don't see it.

MSWord, maybe you can't/won't answer this, but you guys have made Orc army builders.... are other army builders on the table?

@grinman Gandalf the White was shown at NYCC 2023, he's already coming. No new army builders in the works at this time, but I have not seen what lies beyond Series 9.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love and welcome Eowyn with open arms, but doing so seems dangerous to me. Since Eowyn isn't in Fellowship, my collector brain then immediately goes into wanting more figures from TT/ROTK that could go alongside her. I instantly want Theoden, Faramir, Eomer, Wormtongue, etc. And while I feel pretty good that we'll see them all eventually, while we're still working through the Fellowship roster (movie, not actual Fellowship), it seems safer to finalize that cast first- Arwen, Galadriel, Elrond, and Old Bilbo feel like the last necessary parts of that cast. I know we're already moving into TT/ROTK territory with Gandalf the White, but still. There's some FOTR heavy hitters yet to be done, even if most of them, apart from Arwen, aren't necessarily the most interesting or toyetic of characters.

hmmm time to read entirely too much into this!

We know series 8 has a reworked character, and if there are multiple female characters coming, Eowyn and the Witchking makes sense for series 8, but that would mean another female figure is coming in series 9, which would have to be a Hobbit Galadriel?! If we get Tauriel before the lady of light I will become the joker (after I buy her of course).

Oh, you do this too?  I had that exact same line of thinking... exact.

Always good to see a fellow over-thinker!

I would add, though- where would Gandalf fit into all this? Assuming that they stick with the 2 figures per wave and not make an exception for a wave.

And secondly, why would series 9 have to be Galadriel? Did I miss something? I'm totally down for her if it is, but could it also be Arwen? Or, like others have said, Tauriel (as silly as that would be). There's only really 4 notable/figure-worthy female characters in all the movies, so at least our possibilities are slim- someone's gotta be right in their guess. 🤣
