That exclusive Smilodon looks really good. Prefer it much more than the first release. And the armor being more silver than blue helps with that aspect of the set, though I still just can't drum up much interest in the armor or the figures.
I guess it's the Dryptosaurus set coming up next.

Definitely agree. Just pledged for 2 of them! 😍
I put in my pledge today for the Dino-Riders homage set. Couldn't resist. Didn't even try. I'm sure the deinonychus set will be unlocked very soon and then I'll be adding that to my pledge as well.
I'm in on this, too. It's one of the first lines in a long time thats given me the vibes of the toys my brother & I used to play with (we loved Dino Riders). Really love that the creator's all in with his lore about the planet, the various factions and his influences (Dune, Dino Riders, Avatar, etc). Very fun kitbashed story that I dig.
I'm a big 1/18 figure collector so I went for all of the humanoids and the Kickstarter exclusive for now. I look forward to seeing what else unlocks!
Wow, that Dryptosaurus armor is pretty sweet. Not a fan of the dino but the armor should look great on the Bistahieversor I already own. Probably grab the Badland Sentry Trooper to go with it.
Smart move making it compatible with the recently released T-rex wave.
For the record, I said on 10.9 that I could see the deinonychus being unlocked within a week and I think we're well on our way to that. This campaign is just cruising along. I was very bummed to see that the deinonychus is going to be part of a later-shipping wave, though. So we won't even see those figures until 'Spring 2025' rather than the Q4 2024 for all the currently-unlocked stuff. I totally get it. No shade on David at all. But a bummer, nonetheless.
Deinonychus unlocked
Deinonychus added on to my pledge.
But WOOF... that added a lot more than I thought it would because just the -additional shipping- for that add-on is another 16 USD. So for the KS exclusive Smilodon set and the raptor set, I'm paying 42 USD in shipping, which seems way too high. I can get twice as much stuff shipped from BBTS for 10 dollars less than that.
I fucking HATE, HATE, HATE that Kickstarters are almost always 'US shipping' and 'Everyone Else.' No nuance at all. No legitimate numbers or actual costs unless you're in the US.
I don't think there's gonna be much suspense when it comes to stretch goals being unlocked. This is gonna bring in big bucks. The T-rex kickstarter finished at just under $600K.
Just saw today's update on the Dilophosaurus — both the dino and the armor, in both its forms, look really great. Love the blue mouth on the Dilo.
I never heard of this until randomly being on ToyArk 2 days ago and I gotta back it. Love the soldiers and such, will look cool with JoyToy and the like. Armored dinos??? What an amazing line!
There will be a full update on this later, but David has decided to halve the totals needed for each stretch goal. Just for the dinosaur figures though. For example, the Dryptosaurus is now unlocked, whereas the rest of the Drypto set (armor and rider) are still at $320,000. He also posted up the Dilophosuarus, which will unlock at $340,000 and its armor and rider will unlock at $360,000.
I didn't think I was interested in this line until I looked at it two days ago. So we're getting the same scientifically-accurate dinos, but this time there's an optional set of ridiculous weapons we can put on them, or not? AWESOME! It hadn't occurred to me they could give us the best of both worlds by making the weapons removable, but here it is.
My concern is the same as is true with the line up until now--their engineering just isn't there for 2-legged dinos. I'm fine with buying 4-legged dinos from them, but I'm not buying a dino who needs crutches to stand. I'm guessing adding on the weapons makes this even more of a challenge, but I guess we'll see. I still think they should do something like give us an extra pair of bigger feet that make it easier to stand, but I see no indication of any change to their engineering or design this time so I'm assuming it's the same problem now particularly given that we see most of the 2-legged dinos on a little clear display stand in the promos. That seems to be a clear indication the line will continue in that direction.
It was one thing to have dinos on crutches as a sacrifice for scientific accuracy, but the Cyberzoic concept makes them even more toyetic, so the line needs toy QC and engineering and I'm assuming that it won't have any of that, again. I'm guessing my 8-year olds who would really want to play with the Smilodon, or that bird-dragon, or whatever they make will want their hands on these guys, but even if I allowed that they're going to get frustrated with the 2-legged dinos who they can't get to stand.
So I dunno, I've got mixed feelings. I LOVE the concept but am disillusioned with some of the design and engineering choices. Those tyrannosaurs with the dumb-looking neck sleeves are still an abomination, and I expect we'll keep seeing stuff like that. People love to crap on Mattel, Hasbro, and McFarlane toys, but the engineering on toys from all three of them is pretty amazing compared to almost all other companies. I bought my son the Jakks Pacific Sonic toys, and the engineering on them is absolutely atrocious compared to the big three. Getting those figures to stand is a chore, and floppy joints that won't hold their own weight are common. Mythic Legions has similar problems, although they're mostly pretty good for a small company. Jada Toys has quite a few QC problems, but overall they're by FAR the best small company I've seen.
Quick question--the smilodon's mouth isn't articulated, right? I see no hinge, so I assume we're seeing two separate swappable heads in the promo shots.

We are getting 2 heads:
- Head with open mouth - no jaw articulation
- Head with jaw articulation

They also have swappable ears. So you can have 'regular ears' and 'angry ears' on either head (I think David said the change was originally to facilitate the head armor being able to fit on either head, but the result is you can messa round a bit more with the expressiveness of the figure as well).
