@adrienveidt Holy crap, those all look just so damn good - hopefully that carries through in production.
I gotta hold my horses on the Smilodon. I can see myself getting whatever colors they put out, but I want to make sure to wait for the 1/18 scale version since that's the one that's going to scale with the most existing product for the line. I'm glad to have at least one 1/12 version too though!

I'm confused by this. When did Creative Beast do a 1:12 Smilodon? Or are you talking about the new Marvel Legends one?
Yeah, the current Smiley is technically a 12th-scale critter but he's pairing it with an 18th rider for coolness sake; and there will be a smaller 18th one coming down the road. My gut tells me it will be about the size/volume of the BFS Horsies and hopefully the saddles will fit the smaller Smiley.
That was my understanding of the scale thing with Smilodon too. Basically a real smiley would be too small for a human to ride, so they fudged him into 1:12 scale to make the Dino Rider style cyberzoic thing work. And we will still get a 1:18 version to scale correctly with all their other dinos.
I promised myself I wasn't falling back into this trap - but the Smilodon looks so good, and it comes in black? Sigh.
With a name like 'panthercult' you were always gonna be this figure's bitch, mate.
Oh my, that's embarrassing. Thanks guys. I can't believe I didn't realize the smilodon was 1:12 scale. I guess I just never really thought about it or looked all that closely. Dinos aren't -really- my thing, so I didn't give it the crazy amount of scrutiny I might give something else.
It's pretty understandable, the scales get kind of involved with this line. For example, the initial series of raptors were 1/6 scale (though some collectors treat them as 1/12, since the raptors in Jurassic Park are oversized compared to real life). But he later released a few of those in 1/18 scale, which is what MOST of the rest of the dinos he's released so far have been (the tyrannosaurs and ceratopsians). With a couple of exceptions that were raptor-sized in real life and got both 1/6 and 1/18 releases. And now the Smilodon is technically 1/12 with a forthcoming 1/18. And I remember him saying that if/when he gets to sauropods, the larger ones will probably be 1/35 (probably why he also released a 1/35 T-rex in addition to the 1/18 in the tyrannosaur series).
Wellllllll shit.
Wish I'd clicked on this thread when the campaign was still open.
Bad Tenime! Bad! No dinner for you! 😭
I need a smilodon & deinonychus, so I hope BBTS gets them. 😕
I believe they can still be pre-ordered here, though the prices might've gone up a bit since the campaign ended:
So, is the black colored Smilodon he showed off in a picture being saved for later or not an actual option? That's the one I really want.
The Smilodon itself is awesome but I don't really need two - and if the black one is coming later I don't want to buy this one now... hmmm
Also - a 32 inch long winged lizard dragon is super awesome and if I had anywhere I could fit something like I would be supremely tempted. Gorgeous execution on that.
Dunno any details about black Smiley beyond he's a prototype. The two in the KS are actually painted differently, which I'm kinda bummed about as I wanted the darker one with the green armor but needed the blue armored set more overall.
I might need two black Smileys to bash the Displacer Beast tentacles onto one as that kitty is disappointing for a few reasons. 'Saber Displacer' sounds cool as shit, imho.
