So back in the before times of the previous forums there was a thread about a kickstarter project for these Combat Creatures which were a loose translation into 1/12 format of the old Battle Beasts idea.
I was intrigued at the time and threw in for a couple of the figures, apparently, and then forgot all about it. I honestly didn't even remember this project existed and was not clocking the production of these figures are anticipating their arrival at all. I totally forgot I had paid money for them.
But, lo and behold they arrived yesterday. Apparently I ended up going with the Wolf guy - Lunar - and the Shark guy - Sealoch... and did not get the Lion or Bear. Honestly I think I'm glad I skipped those two since they share the same body as the wolf which would have felt much too small for them.
As is I would have vastly preferred these characters in a 1/10 scale as the motif fits better on my 1/10 shelves than in any of my 1/12 displays. The figures themselves aren't terrible. The sculpts are a bit simplistic even while the armor is overdesigned for my taste.
At the end of the day I don't hate them and I suppose my plan will be to put them with the High Evolutionary in my Legends display as they seem like the kind of thing he might get up to.
High Evolutionary got up to a lot of things in those wild nights on Wundagore Mountain. 😀
I loved Battle Beasts as a kid. And got a good chunk (most?) of the Beast Saga figures from a few years back. Wish Hasbro would attempt to bring them back in the some way. From what I remember of this Kickstarter, the designs just weren't appealing to me. I wouldn't mind seeing pics of the delivered product, though.
The listings for the line just went live at BBTS - so you can see some better photos there -though they aren't in hand pics.
I don't have a good way to load my own photos into a format shareable on this site, so that's why I don't post pics.
@PantherCult Pics?
Of the Combat Creatures or the High Evolutionary on Wundagore Mountain? I know a site ...
The Combat Creatures are a nice idea but they're an animal head popped on a human proportioned body. A little more work on what was below the neck would have went a long way.
The wolf was the only one that really worked for me.
I'd like to see in-hand pics of the Combat Creatures with other lines, please.
I've gotten a couple of the 3DP Construx-scale versions of these dudes off the Morphonauts site and very much like them at the proper Battle Beasts scale they should be at; but they're more than a bit fiddly to assemble.
