(7" inches from top of pony tail) Superb figure, top Mcfarlane figure for sure.

All hail, FireLord Zuko!

Jazwares is doing Avatar the last airbender figures! They look to be fairly well articulated and have cloth goods, which could improve posing. Hope they fix the faces, as these otherwise look very good. They're also doing a basic line.

Katara with her hair out is a nice change from all other lines. But I'm content with what I got outta BST combined with McF - not doing this again.

Not quite sure how I feel about the softgoods- they look better here than most other attempts, but still. Other than that, I like the look of the new Jazwares figures well enough; both scales look pretty nice, but it doesn't look like there's much articulation on the smaller figures. Avatar is a license that needs good articulation- I'd say it's a safe bet that that's part of why McFarlane and DST didn't go further- you couldn't pose a lot of them in ways to mirror the show, and holding the accessories (what little we got at times) was either impossible, or affected the balance of the figure (or, in DST's case, needed a stand to even try and display, and a lot of times, the plastic was heavier than the stand and it would droop).

That said, I am worried they'll face a similar problem that McFarlane and DST faced, and we won't get a lot of the characters. I don't need every obscure character, but at least the more established side characters like Suki, Mai, Ty Lee, Jet. I may wait to see how far the line goes before dipping my toe into it. So far, Funko has had the biggest offering of characters (as if often the case), but I would like more true figures, and ones whose heads don't take up the bulk of the shelf space. Hopefully, with the live action show, and the new animated projects coming out in the future, it'll renew some interest in an Avatar line and help it have legs.

@lightsyder To be fair, I don't technically know they're different scales, but they're definitely different kinds of figures. The slideshow above shows 2 different kinds of packaging. The ones in the latter half also clearly look a little more basic- less articulation, a simpler, more cartoony look, and an action feature, whereas the ones in the first half with the soft goods show more detail, articulation, accessories, etc.

@joshsquash729 indeed, the more deluxe do seem.to have some extra bells and whistles. I'm not sure if I can try another Avatar line after the last two ended though...lol

Agreed on the articulation. Avatar is fundamentally a martial arts franchise. You need characters who can MOVE.

I'm genuinely concerned that multiple attempts at Avatar having a sparse character selection is going to impact buy-in here. This might be a time to launch a first wave with a really out-of-nowhere character choice in the lineup just to tell the fans that they're aiming for the long haul and they want to cover everything. To that end, there can be only one choice:

Spoiler
You know I'm right, Jazwares

Personally I never bought any of the other figures, so I just want a well made team avatar and that's it.

How tall are the jazwares?

Jazwares makes very good figures when they want to. their NBA Heroes line convinced me.

Do we know if Jazwares has the Korra license as well? McFarlane fucked me on that one. I'd love to see her made in some capacity.
