Hey folks, I figured I'd start up this topic, but I've been trying to do research into available base bodies but struggling a bit to solve a few dilemmas. Namely, I haven't found a proper base body to create a dude who is a bulky, but not bruiser, 6'11".
What's some base bodies you guys know and use? Whether specifically 1/12, or a range of scales that could suit 1/12 characters of various sizes.
I'll edit this start post into a proper list sorted by bulk, style, and height as I find bodies and document their heights. I'll exclude Marvel Legends bodies from this list though, they already have their own perfectly documented list over in that forum.
Valaverse uses a pretty good base for alot of their guys. There are a couple that make them look pretty buff but not bruiser. But I don't have any of them to say for sure. There are also HACKS blanks coming next year, but they remind me more of the Vulcan buck from ML, when it comes to build and size. But those aren't out yet to actually tell. Some GI Joe Classified figures look like they may be in that range you're looking for. Ones like Roadblock and Gung Ho look to be a bit bigger but not bruiser size.
@trunks3540 I guess more specifically, I mean "blank" bodies. I'd like to organize a proper list of what's out there since everything is a little bit disjointed, lots of assorted smaller toy companies and chinese sellers making their own thing, so on. Classified I wish could work, but I believe all the figures there have pants? To be more specific, I'm working on this lineup of characters (Very slowly, lol) and I've found suiting bodies for most but
This guy in particular is giving me some difficulty, finding a body that gets the 6'11" height while being the right bulk. I was considering VToys, but not sure if that's quite right. Adam body I was considering too but it's too wide in the chest imo.
d_amazing has at least 2 videos covering a few blank bodies, and he has comparisons to other blanks in those vids as well.
I'm pretty sure he and J Hernandez have also posted pics of various figures on IG as well.
Here are at least 3 options on 5KToys right now.
For blanks the HACKS ones still look good. But I don't think they'd work for your 6 11 buff guy, since they again, look to be about the equivalent of the Vulcan buck.
Some Mattel WWE bodies might as well be blanks, since many of them are just wearing trunks and boots. Not really "buff" but the old Andre the Giant body or Big Show. they were just blanks wearing boots essentially.
