Well, you can rest easy on ever having to become a casual collector because one thing Super 7 is never going to do is drop their standard price on Ultimates.
Unless there’s another sale from a vendor, maybe, as that could always open the possibility of me picking up more. Even if the sale drops to $30-35, I’d be interested in purchasing a few here and there. The $55 price point is just a deal breaker for me personally.
So a couple of Canadian e-tailers put up preorders for a bunch of Super7 SDCC exclusives (including DJC Collectibles my local seller in Ottawa). They got taken down because they obviously weren't supposed to go up for preorder this early. Although I am glad to see we Canucks "should" have a chance to get them without going to SDCC or through Super7's website after the fact. That makes it a lot cheaper (relative) for us. Although, again, it could be up in the air if Super7 gets in a snit about this and decides not to make them available to Canada after all.
Anyway there was talk of a D&D stealth thief (clear plastic), and I saw pics for Pizza Chef Michelangelo, Ghost Grune from Thundercats (YAY) and Zartan from Sunbow with a slightly different colour scheme (mostly darker colours of the first release). The Zartan has a robe like the one he wore when sending the Joes the wrong way while they were trying to find the scientist who had that lava/heat/whatever tech. Also had the Cobra headband that they used to control the scientist and the Cobra camera in the basket that Zartan used to talk to CC. Otherwise I think most of the other accessories are the same as first release.
True story - I listed most of that in the general news thread - but I wasn't sure there was anything different Zartan beyond the robe and accessories. The shade is I guess a little darker but it looks pretty similar to the figure already released.

It is one of those situations where it depends on where you are coming from for exclusives. On the one hand you want a cool exclusives, but on the other you don't want something key to your collection being an exclusive *cough* Cobra Eel *cough*
This version of Zartan fits in fine for me as an exclusive I am not dying to have. Frankly I am a bit surprised by the choice. It really isn't all that different from the regular release outside of a few different accessories and a slight colour difference. I mean until I saw the side-by-side pic I didn't realize there was a colour difference. I preferred last year's blue comic BAT exclusive over this, but that was also a nice to have exclusive but not essential.
Now that Ghost Grune is a pretty cool exclusive and will pair well with Ghost Jaga. Again though it is a good exclusive because it can be seen as not essential for a collection. Especially if you missed Ghost Jaga like I did.
I just got Zartan and Baroness at Amazon for $39 each. Gung Ho is $39 also.
I think it will be interesting to see what is going on with Super7 with the upcoming Con season. That should be the time to have some big reveals and the lack of any reveals for the past couple weeks/months is a bit concerning. Especially after that Reddit rumour that is turning out to be partly true.

Not sure if anyone is interested, but Wave 5 of the ReAction line is showing up at Ross for $4 apiece. I was lucky enough to find Xamot, Red Laser, Gladiator Duke and Snake Eyes, and, my personal favorite, Mutt & Junkyard. ReAction figures have pretty much never been worth what Super7 tries to charge for them but I love grabbing them on steep discounts!
I just picked up General Hawk and Barbecue at Macy's TRU, rang up on sale for $16.
ross has been hitting hard on these over the last week. have come across 80 plus figures across 4 stores. all stores have gotten in an intial stock, then a 2nd or 3rd restock. one store had 20 on their first shipment. this will be exactly like the sw tvc when they were hitting ross..
