Thanks for the quick thoughts, @unclassified . I have the wave in my Pile of Loot, but I gotta wait to ship that because I just shipped a Pile of eight other items. Sorry to hear about your Stalker. Silly you for trying to pose it.

@theknightdamien Veebs just posted his latest monthly interview with Brian and they discussed the Reddit post I mentioned in my last post.Β  Brian says there is no truth to the post at all.Β  Not surprising that he would deny the post and frankly there really is nothing to back up that Reddit post so far.

They also discussed the current market and preorders.Β  Brian is claiming everyone is down on preorders (all companies).Β  Which I can kind of see.Β  I don't see much selling out anymore, unless it is an exclusive.Β  Also, only speaking anectdotally, it seems like many people are talking about cutting back and not preordering as much anymore.Β  So there could be something to that.

Brian also made it clear that DIC is out going forward.Β  He first kind of equivocated about it after the cancellation of wave 6, but later on he offhandedly mentioned that DIC wasn't going to be revisited after the cancellation.

I got wave 1, which was pretty great, but I have passed on everything else since to focus on Classified.Β  I like the cartoon look, but QC problems starting with wave 2, and of course price, have made it not worth it to me going forward.

I did not watch the whole interview and my jaded view of Super7 might be muddling my interpretation of everything he said, but I got the distinct impression that GI Joe is done aside from convention exclusives and special releases.Β  Like, no more Sunbow waves.Β  Is that an accurate take?

I am excited to see what they've got going with the o-ring stuff when they show it off at JoeFest.Β  I'm sure it won't live up to my hopes (new figures that blend in seamlessly with the 82-94 stuff) and will probably cost like $35 apiece but still, it's neat that someone else is giving it a shot now that Hasbro proved they can't quite pull it off.

From what I saw it was DIC that is done, but the rest of the Sunbow line is open for more waves and the exclusives were mentioned because we are heading into the "big" convention season.Β  So all the companies should start to reveal what their exclusives will be fairly soon.Β Β  Otherwise I think the regular Sunbow figures should continue as long as they can meet their MOQ during preorders.

In the end we won't really know until we know.Β  If we don't see anything new from Joe Ultimates in the next little while I would imagine they have stopped because the last wave we know of it due next month.Β  However they could also be waiting until wave 5 is in hand before putting up wave 7 for preorder.

Oh Super7 and your frustrating business model.Β Β  😀Β

I feel like the Destro wave, Scarlett wave, Gung Ho wave, and upcoming Roadblock wave, were all announced in pretty quick succession of each other, then a big lull that included the DiC wave. I still hope to get a Shipwreck out of this line, but I'm really not gonna hold my breath.

I mean.. it's obviously some bullshit, right?

Brian's whole thing, for as long as I can remember really, has been spinning self-serving bullshit. The DiC thing is probably one of those half-truths. Not doing DiC anymore could also mean not really doing Joes anymore outside of whatever exclusives they'd already planned. And frankly... if you really think about it... it would make zero sense for Brian to confirm Joe was dead in the water if there's still product he plans to release, such as exclusives. Anyone with a single brain cell would expect that kind of announcement to tank sales of remaining items.
It's even possible that retail partners (such as BBTS) have privately asked Brian to stop announcing line cancellations while they still have lots of product available because, as anyone can see, it hurts sell-through of that remaining product.

Of course nothing on our end is certain. But I would say that safe money is on the complete cancellation of any S7 lines that have had product cancelled. Disney, Wrestling, Simpsons, Joes...Β  it's not particularly mentally taxing to see a pattern develop.

As for the Reddit thing and Brian's response - I mean... yeah. What does anyone expect him to say. The reality is that Brian stands to lose a lot from admitting it's true, while random Redditor doesn't really stand to gain anything by being 'right' about this except for a tiny amount of toy clout with a few hundred people that actually care about this stuff.
So, on face value, I'm inclined to think Brian is lying and the Redditor is telling the truth. But it's impossible to say with any degree of certainty. The only thing that is pretty much 100% for sure is that Brian would deny it whether it were true or not, so his response basically doesn't matter at all. He might as well have said 'I love lamp' for all the weight his response carries here.

When you don't know the meaning of casual collector.

Actually you may be right. Β However I’m not sure of the context. Are you implying I’m a casual collector of GI Joe? Β Or just a casual collector of Super 7? Β If it’s the latter then yeah. In fact I probably might not even qualify as a casual collector of their lines at all because I’ve only ever bought the first wave of Joes on clearance from them and nothing else. However, I’d probably buy more from them and most likely be a casual collector if they drop their standard price by about $20.Β

I'm confused.Β  I guess I don't know the meaning of "casual collector" either.

Important to remember that a correlated collector is not a causal collector.
