Not as good as the EE sale, but I saw these in the clearance section at Walmart for $20 each, particularly Snake Eyes and the comic BAT.
I have seen that BAT three times and none of them were on sale.
I’d buy the BAT for $20.
Thwipp!
They weren't there last week when I went there so hopefully this will happen soon in your area.
BBTS had listings up for the new o-rings (but no pics). First wave looks to be Cover Girl, Cobra Commander, BAT, and comic Snake Eyes. Priced at $19.99.
I'm really curious to see how these turn out. If they can match the look and feel of the originals then I'm really interested, but so far nobody has managed that (not even Hasbro).
I was never able to find those O-ring listings. I wonder if they jumped the gun. I know I'll at least need a couple of BATs.
What's up with the new Ultimates wave? It seems like such a waste.
@captaincracker Yeah, i think they definitely jumped the gun and had to take them down.
And yeahhhh. First new Ultimates wave in months and it's a 3-pack of repaints. How many Baronesseseses do they really think people want? And is this an apology Lady Jaye after they botched the first one? It almost seems like they want this wave to tank so they can kill the line and blame poor sales.
Hopefully this isn't a sign that the line is doing that poorly that they're needing to skip a wave of new molds. I just want it to last long enough to get me a normal Snake Eyes. Is that too much to ask?
A Snake Eyes (ninja) and a Shipwreck are all I ask at this point. That wave of repaints is insulting.
I received Scarlett and Storm Shadow from the latest wave of GI Joe Ultimates from Super7. In taking Scarlett from her plastic tray, her torso just came apart, as pictured above. Not a great start. Fortunately, I was able to glue it back together, and hopefully it holds.
The figure itself is not bad. First and foremost, her skin is painted. A vast improvement over Lady Jaye. What a difference that makes. On her three heads, the hair is glued a little high on all but the one with the headset. The eyes are also painted a little wide; she's got that "deer in headlights" expression, again, on all but the one with the headset. The headset head is clearly the nicest one, but even in its expression, it's the best option. I just don't want to display the headset! The body sculpt is fine.
Articulation is what you'd expect from S7Us, with swivels at the mid torso and neck. Really no pivot or up/down motion at all. At least I've got no loose joints. Accessories are plentiful though, with three standard bolts and three specialty bolts to store in a removable quiver or spread between two crossbows, one big, one small. The bolts slide into slots on either crossbow, though I wish more securely. She also comes with a walkie talkie, an M-16, fists, knife hands, and grip hands for the weapons. The hands aren't easy to remove, but I didn't need heat.
Storm Shadow... is the current best Super7 GI Joe Ultimates figure. I had such trepidation checking every accessory out and testing every joint, but lo and behold, a fully functional figure! But oh, the functions! Sculpt is pretty much dead on. He has the same intense expression on both heads, covered on one head by a diving mask. He comes with two swords, a knife, nunchucks, a sniper rifle, an alt forearm with the Arashikage tattoo visible, fists, knife hands, grip hands (for the blades and nunchucks), ninja gesture hands, a tighter left grip for the bow, and an arrow grip right hand. He comes with three arrows and a bow with an actual, thick, sturdy elastic string that can be drawn. That alone is so impressive for a Super7 figure, let alone any figure that comes with a bow and arrows! His articulation is still limited to 90º in the elbows and knees, so no deep drawing of the bow string, no deep crouches, but I still feel like I can get some great poses from him that aren't vanilla.
Overall I'm quite pleased with both figures after the disappointment of Lady Jaye and Flint, the contrast in quality of which can be seen in my photo in the previous post. I don't feel suckered with these figures.
That's a shame about Scarlett breaking. It's been said over and over, but these are way too expensive for such poor QC. Still, I plan on getting her and Storm Shadow if I can get a deal. I really wanted to like Flint and Lady Jaye, but I couldn't bring myself to spend even the clearance prices on such poor looking figures.
I like how you snuck in Soundwave!
I kind of feel like this latest wave of repaints is not a good sign of the health of this line. I was in for the first two waves but decided now that Classified is scratching my Joe itch well enough, especially with better versions of Duke and Scarlet coming.
The new Scarlet does look good but I'm really trying to limit how much money I give Super 7 and this is coming from someone who used to be a huge fan of theirs. Their stuff just isn't worth it to me anymore and I'm sticking with properties where they are the only option.
I just need a Shipwreck and ninja Snake Eyes before it ends.
