Night Force is a series of repaints I can get behind. Very practical, not overly gaudy. It makes sense. I doubt I'll pick any up, but I fully support them making more of those rather than Tiger Force or Python Patrol. Those are both pretty hit and miss.
I miss all of the green pops from the vintage NF Tunnel Rat. I mean, I guess they're there, Hasbro is just using a much more muted green. I've got Big Ben sitting here on my desk and I think it works pretty well for him but with Tunnel Rat I think he's just way too drab.
Even still I'll probably try for him if he's $25.
Hard to pass on figures like Tunnel Rat, even if you don't need him, he just comes with so much gear!
I don't know, I just opened my mainline Tunnel Rat and I think Hasbro passed the tipping point for me in terms of fiddliness with this figure. Floating bandanna, floating holster, floating satchel, floating ammo belt, a gun that's hard to get into a good 2-handed pose with a small removable clip and a super janky and loose bipod, a heavy backpack that two flashlights slot into, a pistol in the floating holster and a knife in a thigh sheath. That's SO MUCH. It looks pretty good once you finally get him in a pose but man, it is not fun wrestling all of those moving parts into a coordinated look. I think the only thing that didn't fall out on me multiple times was the knife. The ammo belt especially is a major pain as it's too loose and just wants to fall over his shoulder. I get that all of these removable parts maximizes reuse potential for them as well as options for the consumer but this is like three clicks too far IMO.
I wish tunnel rat had a few of the splashes of color like the original, specially the bandolier.

I don't have him yet but I saw a posting where someone layered everything on top on the other side and was able to make it neat and tidy. Your fiddliness complain is kind of how I feel about the Range Viper. Dig the skull head but everything on him seems to fall off on me when I even look at him funny.
I just take off parts here and there. Like I prefer the Range Viper without the bullet belt or scarf. I do agree that Tunnel Rat is very fiddly with all his stuff, but that's his appeal to me (a figure that's simply overloaded with kibble). The gun's bipod is junky. I just crammed his gun into his satchel's strap while i make a proper strap and gave him a valaverse green silenced pistol, looks great. I'm always switching gear and guns around between figures, no use leaving overlay parts on someone if it doesn't improve them in your eyes. The only real criticism I have is that his NVGs don't fold up, that would have put him into the top tier of this line. Would have happily traded in any one of his accessories for that feature.
Night Force Tunnel Rat is unexpected. Looks like he's missing the war paint and has a darker overall shade. I like it.
The original night force tunnel rat was also missing the war paint, so it makes sense.
Yeah, I didn't even know there was an original Night Force Tunnel Rat!
Of the Classifieds that are currently available, Tunnel Rat, Falcon, Outback and Shockwave had vintage Night Force versions. Classified Big Ben is labeled "Night Force" but his colors are pretty identical to the vintage Big Ben which was not Night Force. Shooter and Wolf Spider (I'm sorry......that name just isn't working) are all new so there's nothing to compare them to.
Yeah I am not collecting Night Force (never did in the past either) but grabbed Big Ben since he is like the original.
They aren't live yet (page says 10/13) but the pages for Shadow Tracker and Wolf Spider are up.
I thought wolf spider would be a cobra

I wish that he didn't have a sniper scope on his squad-based machine gun. At least make it removable since a tunnel rat doesn't occupy either of those roles and it just looks goofy.
