So that kind of explains a lot.   I'm a tad older -  and was done with G.I. Joe by 1987.   I started with the line in 1982 when it began and I was 9 and rolled with it through junior high... but by 1987 I was in High School and while I still collected comics, I moved on from my G.I. Joes so I never saw that armored Cobra Commander in the old line and he never meant a thing to me.      I stopped reading the Larry Hama comic around issue 50 as well - so this was just a pure miss for me.

Like I said,  I'll wait to see the fully rendered Classified figure before I pass any final judgement and I'm sure I'll probably soften -  but my initial first impression of that 1/18th figure was 'meh'

Battle Armored Cobra Commander debuted in GI Joe # 58, which was a January of 1987 release. It was immediately the most awesome thing ever. At the time there was no way of knowing what the 87 lineup would be, but when the first of the 87 Joes started showing up in stores and you could see the cardback, he was there.

He was there.

I wouldn't get him until my birthday that year, which is in August. In my area it always took a while for the newest wave of Joes for the year to reach mass-coverage, and I remember my family all driving around one day about a week before my birthday picking up a few things that would be birthday presents. Battle Armor Cobra Commander was at the top of the list. My mom would go in and shop while I stayed in the car with my dad. She'd come out and carefully hide whatever she had just bought, and each time I'd ask "Did they have Battle Armor Cobra Commander?"

"I'm not telling!"

It was a long day, and a long wait.

But she was indeed able to find him, and it was awesome.

Long story long, Battle Armor Cobra Commander is awesome and I'm super excited for him.

Awesome story, thanks for sharing.

Battle Armor CC was actually my first Cobra Commander. I could never find his first version in stores. I definitely want the armor version.

Alot of casual fans here...Excited about Armored CC, must have. 'Real' GI Joe fans know whats up...Iconic.

Only "real trolls" use that 'real fans' bullshit.

Please use professional language. Cobra Commander would not like that.

I think my ultimate peak level of excitement for Classified was the Spirit/Storm Shadow/Cobra Officer wave. Not saying I'm not still excited for Classified or that it's not my current favorite ongoing line.

That was just my random action figure thought I felt needed to be posted on the fwoosh.

I don’t think my excitement has even peaked. Every time they unveil a classic character in Classified look or ESPECIALLY some random weirdo is given an amazing makeover, I just get more hyped up for this line.

I'm excited for the Night Viper wave only for the Night Viper, but my excitement for him is worth four figures.

But yeah, it's interesting how I feel about the line because sometimes I really love when they do something that looks just like what I had (but better), sometimes I love when they update what I had as a kid in a neat way, and sometimes I love when they take it in an entirely new direction and breathe new life into the character. I don't know if there's a character I've wanted that I passed on because of the approach they took yet. The closest may be Jinx and Storm Shadow 2, but I did still get both.

Yup, that sleeveless one looks too masculine? or maybe with more slender arms?

Nothing like sharing more personal insecurities with the group.
