I’m very excited for armored CC !

It’s definitely cheesy…but I love it

for me personally it was the first ever CC that was available for sale in stores while I was able to actively express myself verbally.

Aside from that armor being from a really cool and iconic arc from the OG Hama comics, it kinda birthed the concept of “it could be anyone behind this mask…” in regard to cobra commander.  He’d certainly use body doubles etc.

Besides…

the Cobra Commander  -I- know is not turning down a suit of Ironman armor if it’s handed to him….

I also have a soft spot for armored Cobra Commander. I’m definitely in for that figure.

I'll probably end up buying it... and I'll certainly reserve actual judgement until I see a finished, painted Classified figure and won't judge by the 1/18th version.

Oh... dear god... why did I look that up?   That is not an attractive figure.    Why?  Why is that what they are giving us?    Because they can't give us the hood?   Sigh.

Yeah, I was never fond of that one either, and will always see Fred VII when I see that figure. And I really hoped it's not because they can't give us the hood. They CAN give us the hood. Come on, Hasbro, you can.

You know what I think, they are waiting for a big dip in sales, than BAM, "You remember this hooded bastard? Here he is! Finally, the moment you've been waiting for! Where's my money?"

@spongyblue I would be fine with that. I don't mind waiting.

Ohh Battle Armor Cobra Commander is a MUST. I had the actual toy well before I read the arc in the comics that featured Fred in the armor, so the intimidating card art and “one of a kind, VERY powerful armor” file card description had me loving a version of CC who could go out on the battlefield and be more than a match for any individual Joe. Soooo excited to get the figure, will absolutely square him off against Iron Man.

I loved the Fred plot, and appreciate his involvement in the civil war. If he has a Fred head, I may grab him

Battle Armor CC is great. My original is missing the breathing tube. Bugs me almost 40 years later.

So who's the chubby-cheeked cherub right above the CC helmet?

Battle Armored Cobra Commander debuted in GI Joe # 58, which was a January of 1987 release. It was immediately the most awesome thing ever. At the time there was no way of knowing what the 87 lineup would be, but when the first of the 87 Joes started showing up in stores and you could see the cardback, he was there.

He was there.

I wouldn't get him until my birthday that year, which is in August. In my area it always took a while for the newest wave of Joes for the year to reach mass-coverage, and I remember my family all driving around one day about a week before my birthday picking up a few things that would be birthday presents. Battle Armor Cobra Commander was at the top of the list. My mom would go in and shop while I stayed in the car with my dad. She'd come out and carefully hide whatever she had just bought, and each time I'd ask "Did they have Battle Armor Cobra Commander?"

"I'm not telling!"

It was a long day, and a long wait.

But she was indeed able to find him, and it was awesome.

Long story long, Battle Armor Cobra Commander is awesome and I'm super excited for him.
