Remember all those jokes about Tom Holland looking like he had a frog in his mouth? Cover Girl has the same face shape!
It doesn't look bad at all, but that's the first thing I noticed in the HD photos. Also - OCTOBER!??! WTH?
I might be in the minority, but I went ahead and pre-ordered the firefighter. I always wanted the one Plan-B toys made for their special forces line waaaay back in the day but could never find it (and aftermarket prices were bananas). Do I *need* a firefighter? Probably not. But they're cool!
Yeah... I haven't pre-ordered a single one of the Anniversary figures basically because I think all of them are overpriced. I just am not into paying a bunch of extra money for a bunch of extra gear that mostly sits in a drawer or storage bin somewhere. If and when the firefighter goes on sale closer to the price of a normal retail figure, I might cave and buy one. That's how I ended up with two of the marine snipers, one of the halo jumpers and one of the infantry - found them on sale for less than $25. I can't pay $35 for what amounts to a regular figure with a bunch of junk that will go in a baggie.
Of course I'm the guy paying $40 for a polar bear plus an extra $25 for a Snake Eyes I don't particularly care about... so >shrug<
@jakeekiss imo it's the best thing they showed at NYTF.
$65 for the polar bear set... 🙄 $40 for that bear is ridiculous, I'm sorry. That's as much as Masterverse Panthor!
@panthercult I'm in the opposite boat, I'd gladly buy SE for $25 but don't even want the bear. Sounds like I should just buy it and offload the bear, there seems to be more interest in that.
We can definitely partner up. If you want my second Snake Eyes - it's yours for the $25 and a stamp (well, whatever it costs to ship a single loose figure these days)
@jakeekiss I preordered two. I figure they'll look good either with the Joes or with Marvel Legends.
I assume we'll get even more preorders in a couple weeks after the next stream? Maybe the Darklon/Footloose wave?
Was Flint ever available on Amazon? He’s not available right now but I have a hard time believing that he’d sell out in under an hour when everyone else is still available.
Flint was unavailable on Amazon when I tried, but got Cover Girl and a firefighter from there. Ordered the full retro wave, plus doubles of Flint, and Snake Eyes and the bear on Pulse.
As long as we're talking unwanted animal companions: anyone here unwant their little snake dude from the Once A Man set? 🙂
I've gotten fairly lucky on the animal packs as far as catching them on clearance, since I don't really want the human figures themselves. Not sure if I'm expecting that strategy to work for the polar gear, so I've got one on order for now.

I'm lucky in that I've got a cash back amazon card I use for bills and then use the cash back as a way to subsidize my toy habit. I did grab the halo jumper at a slight discount, and this guy is a bit more pricey than I'd like, but I can actually see me using most of it through rotating dios.
@aggroninja My thoughts exactly. Works in almost any display I'd put him in, and gives me another use for my Tamashii Effect fire pieces.

Flint's available now, just placed an order.
Preordered everything, and definitely did light army building with the firefighter. I love the figure, it’s badass while also weaponless, and firefighters are great heroes or even virtuous-victim characters up against nasty bad guys (“no one wrote a song called ‘fuck the fire department’” and all that). I just dig ‘em.
And that Jurassic Park battle damage on the bear? Awesome. Betcha we get a brown repaint down the line as well. Snake-Eyes is the real draw from the set for me, though: love the animated color scheme and it’s well represented here, and the whole “sacrifices himself, saves his friends from radiation and faces down certain death with dignity while never giving up” bit from that cartoon is my peak Snake-Eyes moment.

I think the firefighter is going to end up selling better than any of the other anniversary sets. Like you said, he has a lot of crossover appeal and I also think he has a lot of standalone appeal for those that just want a really nicely done firefighter figure. I kind of wonder if Hasbro thinks the same by releasing it without a second set like the first two releases.
And on the polar bear set — I should have known to add a few bucks to the price I thought they'd sell it. As much as I like the set, I'm waiting on it anyway. This is a $30-ish Christmas time markdown on Amazon if there ever was one. Or better yet it ends up on the shelves at Target. It'll be $28 before Halloween.
