Dude.... I was in such withdrawal and desperation to talk about the Cold Slither reveal I posted on freaking Twitter about it.... I almost never post about Toys... or anything.. there. But I had no outlet to express my absolute delight in that announcement.
4 figures and a full set of band gear accessories including an entire drum kit feels like minimum $125 for the set and probably $150 based on the way Hasbro has been pushing pricing and their con exclusive bump up on margins. Even so, I will be buying it on Preview night - it will be the first thing I do at SDCC. I'll get whatever the Legends exclusive is too, I'm sure - but Cold Slither is IT, man. Like I'm way more excited about this than I should be.
I didn't actively post on Twitter but I did reactivate an old account I had for my now-defunct podcast JUST to search for "thefwoosh" at least once a day to see if anyone was out there. I also checked on Bluesky and Threads and Instagram, too, like sending out an SOS to the great beyond.
If I can get the Cold Slither set I will, but I applaud them for doing picking something like this as a con exclusive. I imagine very few folks will look at their collections as incomplete if they can't get it, but those that can will smile every time they look over.
I haven't gotten a Con exclusive in ages, but it never seemed to be too much of a chore. Later on, when they're sold out, sure, that's a real pain. But I always got mine when they went online after the Con. I've never seen anything I was willing to wait in line for at SDCC.
I don't know where it's to be discussed, but I'm fine skipping those MASK toys. I know for some, it's gonna hit square in the nostalgia bone and that's really cool. I hope someone is excited for them, but for me, a sliiiiiiiiiiiight update wasn't what I was hoping for. I'm too spoiled now for something just like the 80s.

I assume since they are being made by Loyal Subjects - a company that isn't Hasbro - the line will eventually have a thread in the General Toys Board section.
@swoop716 A contingency plan to check in really isn't a bad idea. It's funny to say since (at least for me) I've never met anyone face to face from the boards but I really appreciate geeking out with all of you and I was actually legitimately worried and sad I'd never talk with anyone from the forums again. I kept thinking about how strange a modern problem it is when an online community falls apart unexpectedly.
Are we the digital version of the old guys who go to McDonald's from 630am to 930 drinking coffee and BSing? Ow my hip!
damn that’s close to home. That’s a thing in other places?
I thought that was only in my city!!
Cold Slither set looks sweet. Very divisive, which is fun.
Regarding the price, I keep seeing people argue that it has "four figures and a full band set," pricing the figures at $25 each but that's just enabling Hasbro and buyers. We never bought into this line as a bare-minimum product of just a figure with no accessories, this isn't Marvel Legends Retro carded line. It's four minimal figures (with a lot of reuse) with no accessories, plus a full band set. Or the band set is their accessories, so it's just four full figures. It can't be both four full figures and a band set. Anyways, not arguing with anyone here in particular, just venting my thoughts after reading opinions on *shudder* instagram.
@spongyblue Y'know what... if this is that version for our generation I'm okay with it. Those guys might sit around being like KIDS THESE DAYS but us? We get talk about the TOYS from when we were kids. I'd say we're an upgrade.
RE: Pricing the Cold Slither figures... The crimson strike force three pack was 90 bucks right? am I remembering that correctly? If so I'd tack on 40-50 bucks over what they charged for that set based on new accessories and the fourth fgure. But that's just my uneducated guess.

I take that as it will be easier to get. But then again if action figure collectors have proven anything, it's that they will buy something voluntarily and complain about the entire process instead of just skipping and walking away.

So - I hear what you are saying and for the guitars and keyboard guitar I totally agree - those should count as included accessories for a figure and part of the figure base price. The full drum kit is another story. That is a lot of size and volume and individual pieces and there is absolutely no way that would be packed in as an accessory with a $25 figure. If it were to to come with a figure it would come as a deluxe set like the Croc Master with Fiona at a minimum or the trouble bubble at a maximum... plus it's a con exclusive so automatically gets a price bump from that. That's why I said I'm guessing it will be $120 minimum and possibly (even probably) closer to $150.
The bass drum also appears to have a button on the front, so maybe it plays the song or something. Added value!
