So if the USS Flagg was six feet, right? Then a classified version would only have to be nine feet long? Yeah it's a lot but not as much as if they did a true to-scale carrier...

I like that it's nearly universal that Flint was people's favorite "in charge" guy on the Joe squad.   That was definitely true for me.   Didn't care much about Duke,  absolutely loved Flint.    Was always partial to Lady Jaye too -  probably because in the cartoon she was always paired with Flint while Scarlett always went with Duke.

I think a whole lot of us are into putting other people before ourselves, wearing all dark colors, befriending wild animals through kindness, and possibly also redheaded ninja women because of early exposure to Snake Eyes.

-psychotherapist

-goth

-best friend is a cat I found in a parking lot

-wife is a badass redhead, unsure if she is secretly a ninja but I wouldn’t fight her if I were you

Soooooo . . . yes, literally exactly that is my life.

😀

Snake Eyes was also my favorite by a large margin. Also goth who does martial arts and befriends wild animals recklessly. AND my wife had red hair when we met.
Got into construction rather than human services, though. Originally wanted to be a teacher, but I also have ADHD and severe authority issues, so going through the system wasn't gonna work out.

I think what actually sold me on SE was something that, at the time, I wouldn't have been able to put into words properly. It goes back to me being a huge fan of the old sagas and knightly mythology/tales like Roland and Charlemagne, King Arthur, Sigurd, etc etc. A lot of the old lore is heavily concerned with a very specific, very not-modern-American version of manliness. Specifically, the idea that what you do and what you are willing to risk defines you above all things.
The knightly virtues of not backing down when you know you're right, not lying, protecting people that need it, etc. These things meant everything to me. I genuinely thought 'this is how we should all live and the world would be better' - even as a child.

SE cannot speak, and has no face even with which to emote. He was, to my child eyes, the very definition of 'actions not words.' He was the knightliest of knights. He couldn't explain away his actions or decisions, using pretty words to make lesser actions seem fair. He couldn't show you what he was thinking with facial expressions. He had no real way to communicate with the audience except for, very specifically, what he did. ONLY his actions mattered. So he had to be good not because he says he is, or because he can justify what he's doing. He had to be good by literally doing good.

I never let that go and it's always continued to be what makes me gravitate toward SE as my favorite character.

As for the new reveals, even though I'm late on this, I really fucking hate what they did to Slice. What a travesty. Ninja Force Storm Shadow all over again -- take all the elements that make the design interesting, and toss them in the garbage to 'make improvements' or whatever. The armor bits look stupid. The mask is ruined by being totally bland. The costume is also made utterly bland without the speckle pattern. I don't get how someone could look at that ARAH design and come out the other side with the figure that's in the two pack, and really think the 6" figure is an improvement.

What a shame. Dice looks great. Too bad he's packaged with the Try-Hard Dollar Store version of Slice.

Insert "they'll definitely make Admiral Keel Haul in Classified but only as an exclusive with a Haslab USS Flagg" joke here.

Also no shade, but "our three best guys" being Gung-Ho, Alpine, and Bazooka feels like gilding the lily a bit. Three best guys at a bachelor party, maybe.

Also, movie falcon is pretty sleezy and not above exaggeration when hitting on someone.

@theknightdamien wow, you put it so well regarding Snake-Eyes. Agree 100%. There was that great bit in the later “GI Joe starring SNAKE-EYES AND NINJA FORCE” era where Scarlett “turned traitor” to infiltrate Cobra and Snake-Eyes had to fight her and he *stabbed her through the chest* and everyone was horrified and Snake-Eyes couldn’t explain himself and then finally Scarlett woke up in the hospital and burst into tears because she realized that Snake-Eyes needed to preserve her cover so that she wouldn’t be straight executed by Cobra so he stabbed her in an absolutely precise way that would *look* lethal but actually did comparatively little damage and missed all major organs. And he absolutely couldn’t explain that to ANYONE until she was extracted. Next level.

Regarding General Flagg: there is ALSO General Flagg Jr (not to be confused with DC’s Rick Flagg and Rick Flagg Jr, oy) who showed up in . . . Battle Corps, I think, in the early 90s and was a very cool old-school military guy in an officer’s cap (removable, which was awesome), and a leather bomber jacket in brown OR black because Battle Corps. I don’t remember if he made it into the comics, but I dug the idea of the child of a slain Joe stepping up to fight Cobra.

Damn, I'd assumed they'd just finally done a figure of General Flagg. Didn't realize there was a junior. And he made it to general too? Good for him.

When my mom was pregnant, my dad floated the idea of naming me Captain to give me immediate rank.

Hilarious if you had then joined the military to be  Private Captain ____  or Corporal Captain ____  or whatever.    Nice and confusing

And now that I type that I feel like I saw that in a show or movie not to long ago where something very similar happened and they just promoted the guy to avoid the confusion.

There was a character in Catch 22 named Major Major Major, who was made a Major, so he became Major Major Major Major.

@ibentmyman-thing I would not be surprised if that's where he got the idea but took credit for it.

Yes to Phoenix Guard. Bonus points if they do what they should have done ages ago in Marvel Legends with the original Thunderbolts lineup: A two pack with "villain" and "hero" identities. The villain identity could be v2 (v3 in Copperheads case), of the character.

I finally took the time to look into this, and you mean this version:

Then Firefly would be the green one he switched to just as Ninja Force was happening? Eh... I'd kinda be down with that idea. The second version of Zarana actually looks a lot like her Phoenix look already, aside from the hair. Wild Weasel, I still need a V1 figure! heh.

I worked with a Master Sergent Sargent. That guy was kind of a dick.

It was seven and a half feet long.

Okay, damn... thank you for that. But, so, to have the same ratio to the figures that had, a Classified one would only need to be eleven feet, three inches long.
