I'm about to buck tradition, maybe rustle some feathers, maybe even elicit a slightly audible sigh, but my second favorite Snake Eyes:
Jungle Snake Eyes from Sigma 6. There are probably a dozen of us Sigma 6'ers out there. The only Joe line that I got almost all of, as I only had about 4 of the original ARAH despite being a huge fan.
Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and a handful of others can be considered the big names of the Joe line so any variation can be a safe bet to sell. I personally had no issues with the outfit designs of Sigma Six, I just wasn’t a fan of the art style for the line. I did own Sigma Six SE and SS and though they were pretty fun to mess with.
So in other words bring on that Sigma Six SE outfit. I’ll buy that along with V3, V4, Dollar Store V4, Ninja Force, Purple radioactive cartoon V1, Boy George SE, and any other Classifieds version SE under the sun.
Still hoping for Yakuza tats Storm Shadow to be released someday. Oh and an apology remake of Ninja Force V3 Storm Shadow too because that Amazon exclusive one was…….well…..damn.
Yeah then there's Pursuit of Cobra Snake Eyes, and city strike from rise of Cobra, and the retaliation version, etc.
I would get more Storm Shadow but he doesn't seem as versatile..I'd definitely get a proper ninja force one and the tattooed version though. Or a retro one without the tattered ends on his ....not really sleeves but you know. I want that not like he tore the sleeve off. Hem that, Tommy!
Snake Eyes v4 is my favorite overall and ARAH specific Snake Eyes look. With his and Night Viper’s release my top ten from way back when this line started is one away from done. Never thought I’d see the day, honestly. I wanted some weirdos (Night Creepers, Heavy Duty, Leatherneck).
The most important Storm Shadow to me is black-and-white Ninja Force. Hasbro did a straight up bad job on that figure and I'm still mad about it because the ARAH figure is my favorite Joe figure ever. I've said it a thousand times and I'll say it a thousand more -- Hasbro OWES us a better Ninja Force Storm Shadow.
After what they did to v2, I also need a new, more accurate v2. Besides that, I actually don't care much for any Storm Shadow variants. Although I will say I was pretty taken with the red and white costume as it was done in 25A. With the Cobra logo on the face and the dragon-handled swords and shit? That was a cool design and I'd probably buy that in Classified.
As for Sigma designs -- I don't actually care, I think. I couldn't even tell you what those costumes look like besides 'the ugliest action figures I've ever seen in my life.' I absolutely despise Sigma Six, but it has nothing to do with whatever the storyline was, or whatever the costumes actually look like, but solely to do with the absolute dogshit artistic direction they took.
If those designs pop up in Classified - sure. Great. I probably won't even know where they're from and will just think it's a new take on a character. Haha.
Although no.. I will never buy a brown or green Snake Eyes, or whatever color that is (I'm colorblind, so be nice).
I received the Iron Grenadier BATs from EE yesterday. I had pre-ordered six so EE sent me case of six. I really like the gold on these. I still like the Crimson BATs the most but these are probably my second which used to be the Arctic BATs.
You know what? I'd take a BAT in just about any theme and color scheme. Woodland camo, twilight, classic Cobra blue, Megatron colors, Easter, CoCo and Mindbenders Hawaiian vacation, I'd take it all. If the Black series gets christmas themes, why cant joes get something?
Are others still waiting to receive their Arctic BAT? Placed the preorder at BBTS when first possible but still listed as preorder. Am I out of luck?
@spongyblue Green Snake Eyes is gorgeous. I love Paratrooper Duke from Sigma Six and would dig seeing a version like that in Classified.
Just in general I hope we get some alternate versions of Duke; imo they haven't made a bad one yet and the new head sculpt could stand a reuse/repaint or two.
That's probably my biggest action figure regret is that I couldn't afford Sigma Six when they were out. Really fun figures with amazing accessories.
Sigma Six...I saw the photos, said I wasn't going to buy them, then bought nearly all of them, and was disappointed when it ended. They turned out to be rather fun and I still own them even after turning over most of my collection (I currently own really old toys and very new ones, not much in the middle). My problem, I wasn't quite sure what Joe's goals were in this era. Was it to fight Cobra or improve quality, efficiency, and promote lean business practices?
@theknightdamien absolutely...a lot of the Resolute looks are killer. Probably my favorite SE design to date. Maybe that's why I like the Classified look so much, it nails the tight upper body armor with baggy tactical pants look.
I'd love a resolute Firefly.
Yeah Resolute Snake Eyes is a great look. That was one of my favorite modern-era 4" figures. Firefly would look great in Classified too.
And, as a sucker for all things winter-themed, I'd actually really dig a full set of Resolute figures from the opening when they're all dressed for the cold. Now that I'm thinking about it - the regular troopers and vipers in Resolute looked awesome too. Maybe we need some Resolute boxed sets or something.
Classified is like the Renaissance to me. Every one of these characters, like the ones I collected or others renewed I didn’t collect, are exciting to me.
Thwipp!
@theknightdamien I was just looking at the troopers and yeah, I'd love a resolute trooper too. There are quite a few designs in there I like a lot
@theknightdamien I hear ya on the redos. I really dislike the changes they made to the new demoted Leatherneck figure, and will probably buy a retro if they ever make one, but I cant pretend they didn’t make him if this is the only figure he gets.
Sigma Six figures remind me of the movie Toy Soldiers. Never watched the show, but can say I’d much rather get GI Joe Extreme figures before Sigma Six (or Resolute).
