I am hoping since folks are mentioning it that the AWE Striker and Crank Case are on the radar. It's small enough for retail, I always loved that grumpy SOB driving it, and it'd be fun to see all the little details from that vehicle done Classified style.
Are there other obvious repaint vehicles they can double up on? Seems like with the VAMP and Ferret they are being smart about stuff they can sell twice.
I'm honestly pretty surprised at how little a tank like the MOBAT or Mauler appeal to me as a Haslab. I've been so all in on this line but with other Haslabs I've had a combination of giddy to see the vehicle and pure terror at the price. Meanwhile I did put Cutter on my top five "weird dudes I want in this line" list and by gum if they stick a classic Cutter in a Haslab Whale I'm doomed. I'll have to back it.
I'm glad for collectors' sake they made Wild Bill kind of in a generic flight suit for the Haslab though. His face sculpt is excellent and he deserves a standard look general release on his own. And honestly, the SCULPTS of the other three are in my opinion well done, but the PLASTIC is absolutely bizarre. They have... like, they look like the kind of material OTHER kinds of adult toys are made out of. But I would not hate it if they made non-Night Force versions of Ripcord and Crazylegs using the opaque, higher quality plastic they use for the main line. I think the sculpt is there but the materials were a bizarre choice.
(Glenda behind a paywall is cruel.)
Total aside, but the Snowcat was also a favorite vehicle of mine as a kid, and I grew up in New England back before ALL THE GLOBAL WARMING so I could play in the snow with it, which absolutely cost me a few casualties who I didn't find til the spring, but the Tiger Force repaint remains my favorite "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING" repaint from classic Joes. Is it a snow vehicle, pee yellow in the snow? or is it meant for other terrain? What is its purpose? Where do you even drive it?
@docsilence i saw someone, maybe even here, compared the Dragonfly figures to the selfish series figures.
Part of me regrets never getting one and part of me is really glad I didn't.
Crazy Legs screamed Ezra Miller Selfie Series to me. I think @vicious7171 said the heads looked translucent, which I agree with. If anyone remembers Neca's Rocky line, they kind of had that translucent look.
I wouldn't mind non-Haslab vehicles without drivers. Even something like the Snowcat, I'd be fine buying Frostbite separately if they release within a similar timeframe. I wonder how much of a financial incentive it is for Hasbro to always include a figure.
@ru1977 I have one and I feel like if you stuck a pin in it I'd scream.
@mrboshek I get why they do the drivers, because it's totally in line with how classic Joes were sold, but definitely don't need a driver with most vehicles. (Although I might by fewer vehicles if they don't include a figure I want, which is probably why they do it.) I'd definitely by darn near every driver if sold separately though, vehicle or not.
I'm going to say something mildly controversial: Crazy Legs in the right light might be Ezra Miller, but in different light he kinda has Luigi energy. (Definitely does not look like the original Crazy Legs, who looked like Mr. Potato Head.)
@ru1977 So... I kept the Selfie Series figure in the box cos it weirded me out, and I just realized I don't know where I put the box, which means the Selfie figure is somewhere in the house but I don't know where, and I feel like this is how horror movies start.
@ru1977 FOUND IT. A) it looks less accurate than I remember B) the sculpts on Ripcord and Crazylegs are actually better, they use the same material but as I mentioned above, Ripcord adn Crazylegs look like they use NOT TOYS toys plastic for their heads, it's a weird pinkish shade. The selfie series figure has an odd texture to it but if the Haslab figures had used a different color plastic they'd be less uncanny valley. (I don't know how to explain it other than with a horrific "these figures feel more POROUS than the plastic used in the main line" and I am angry at myself for phrasing it that way)
Well guys I have breaking news!!!
The next Haslab has been leaked and we were wrong. It is another Cobra offering, but this time they are giving us THREE!!!! Vehicles in one offering. It will be......
The Buzz Boar, Pogo Ballistic Battle Ball and Battle Barge!!!!
They have also changed up the Haslab model and each vehicle after the Buzz Boar will be a tier unlock!!!
So there you go, no more need to speculate. I have spoiled it for all of you.
Now back to my drinking........
No lie, I’d go pretty nuts for a Pogo, and a Buzz Boar, and ooh ooh that cool giant purple Jet Pack!! Pack each one with a Cobra driver whose vehicle is too big to produce and/or some cool “new” kitbash trooper, or even an obscure Cobra too weird for single card. I’d be all in.
@canprime I would, no joke, go apenuts for a a Haslab that just offered a bunch of smaller scale vehicles and kept unlocking new ones with each tier. All three of those vehicles, for the right price? BRING ON THE IMPRACTICAL COBRA MADNESS
Am I crazy or was there a GI Joe video game a billion years ago where you drove the buzzboar? Anyone else remember that?
I think I'd like to see a HasLab WHALE; I could print out the pictures and hang them on the shelf.
I'd personally have no qualms with them making a Mauler and just calling it a MOBAT. An Army green tank, but with the driver and gunner hatches. Then they could include Steeler AND Heavy Metal.
@docsilence Vaguely... like Nintendo or something? I remember a pretty terrible game though. And I think the pogo was a boss? I wanna say Overlord was too? And Metal Head?
