@docsilence, when I was trying to think of how I would present a really scary Cobra Commander, I was reminded we already had one in G.I.Joe Retaliation. Undeniably menacing, always in control, lead his forces in the field and had their unshakeable loyalty. I think the faceless enigma of him forced people to protect their own fears onto him. Plus he literally wiped London off the face of the Earth. There's a lot of good notes to be taken from that movie.

@unclassified, the little sword on the left with the blue on it is likely from a Lightning Collection Beast Morphers character, and I bet the scythe next to it is from that creepy Fortnite guy with the suit and gas mask.

ok that make sense, I grabbed a few power rangers for heads over the year and fortnite. Thanks. That's three things so far. Ship wreck hook, power ranger sword and a fortnite scythe. Thanks so far guys.

So... I ordered the 4H bear as well -  but specifically I ordered him as a mount for Vikor to ride in my MOTUC collection.

These bears won't serves as mount, just as awesome bears.

oh man, I forgot about the bear. I kept getting emails telling me the window for po is closing, but thought there's wasn't anything I wanted from them. Money is to damn tight right now, but I really wanted them bears. Hopefully the become evergreens. I'd like to get some for that motuc conan Thundercats ultimates collection.

What snake eyes are you referring to? And you meant 4 horsemen with the bear, right? I remember a bear but thought it was four horsemen but can't find it on their site.

So - the post was referring to the upcoming 2-pack with Sunbow Snake Eyes and Polar Bear from Hasbro... I want multiples of that Polar Bear.

As for the 4 Horsemen grizzly bear mount -  the pre-order window for those from 4H directly closed months and months ago but it is still up for pre-order on BBTS right now, it's just pricey.

Even so, I will make room for all the bears and cats I can on my shelves.. that is for sure.

ok, I was vague in memory, but now it all came back to me. Thanks

Definitely one of the best versions of CC.

I always liked how they did CC and Cobra in Renegades.  The idea of a large corporation with a fake "front facing" Adam DeCobray as the head of the corporation while behind the scenes he gets to be the "real" CC.

Also the idea of Cobra being a large corporation that is secretly trying to take over the world by any means, including terrorism, is kind of on the nose for how a number of people feel about corporations today.

Plus CC was not a buffoon and also somewhat deadly/threatening, though not quite to the same degree as the Retaliation version.

It’s 2025. Where’s my Skyhawk Hasbro?  Chop, chop.

Hoping to see Battle Armor Cobra Commander this year. Kinda wanting him to be a deluxe of some sort and see  what the Joe production team can add to him at the $34.99 range.

@canprime When I think of Cobra I always think of them as a corporation presenting as a terrorist organization. There's no ideology behind them beside power and money (heck, Destro just makes money off people fighting with each other - he doesn't actually want to win, he just wants the weapons to sell). The twins are corporate lawyers and the Crimson Guard are all lawyers or accountants. They play perfectly as a profit-based corporate entity pretending to be a terrorist cell. (And if we make CC scary, the reason he never shows his face is so when they no longer need the terrorist angle and have amassed all the money and power he wants, he drops the mask, throws away the voice modulator, puts on a ten-thousand-dollar tailored suit, and begins his life as a CEO running a multinational corporation as someone else entirely. The CC mask is a character.

But then again I'm colored by the fact that I've met a lot of CEOs and literally every single one of them has been an absolute moron with the cleverness of a doorknob, so making CC that scary and clever gives corporate evil too much credit. If I want to make CC really scary as a writer, he plays the fool long enough that in the end, he turns to all those regular, stuffed suit CEOs and says "your time is done, go home to your mansions, I'll take it from here. You no longer need a say in anything ever again. Consider this your first and final warning to shut up and be happy in your gilded cages."

Which would be why Baroness and Destro, who seem obviously smarter than he is, defer to him. Maybe they know it's an act.

Not to stop giant Cobra-trained gorillas from kidnapping Princesses?

@docsilence Love that interpretation of Cobra Commander. I like my CC a bit more of a megalomaniacal buffoon, but Corporate Mastermind CC is a great idea. In my head he's the actual true believer in the concept, motivated by spite (and not a small amount of ego, obviously), and surrounded mostly by people who are using him for their own ends. Which is where the corporate structure comes in, because terrorism and tyranny can be extremely profitable ventures if you're amoral but not so classless that you'd get into, like, health insurance. I always see Cobra as doomed to either fail or take a different form depending on who ultimately wins out in the struggle over the philosophy and whether there even is one beyond making a few people richer.

Michel Fiffe did a Joe miniseries a few years back, Sierra Muerte, that had a through line about Baroness and Destro I really loved. I think about Joe characters as archetypes foremost but this comic made me think about those two more as characters.

An urgent message for Ru1977 — the Falcon/Quarrel set has now dropped to $29.99! I'll be seeing you in the customer service line at Walmart ...

I wasn't gonna bother with a return at $35 but now it's more than $10 less than I paid a couple weeks ago.

Star Wars Black Nite Owl creeped down to $6 even, I haven't seen any other changes. Waiting on the Shriek Hawk 2-pack to drop a little farther.

@secondwhiteline I love that version of Destro and Baroness. In the imaginary world where I get to write Destro, he's not a good man at the start, but both Baroness and Cobra Commander make him want to be something better than just a war profiteer, her because she deserves to be more as well, and CC because he sees himself as having more to offer the world than that. (Destro's my favorite Cobra character in this world because he's the one who has the most potential for character depth and change, IMO.)

Thank you. I'll be returning the one I got for $35 as well as the other two I got for $35 that are coming tomorrow, so I'm saving another $15. I have accepted that I now have a side hobby of buying and returning the Falcon/Quarrel set.

@docsilence I keep coming back to Scarface as a custom in m collection. I had an adequate kitbash that has since been reabsorbed into other kitbashes, but now I'm revisiting him. He wasn't horribly significant in the scheme of things but he was effectively a named trooper in one of the earliest comic plots so he always stuck out to me. And reading along, he felt like he was going to be as significant at the time as Bludd or Destro even. But I guess I wanted to ask what your take it on the character for some inspiration of where to go with this custom. In a lot of his appearances, he looked like an unvested Scrap Iron would work with a red masked face and trooper helmet, but sometimes he had a red cobra symbol on his chest as well and a harness. But I also am considering sorta starting from scratch and considering his role as a courier could mark him as the cobra agent most able to slip into a crowd, which would mean a less uniform look, no helmet, and a mask that's easily removed.

Anyway, open to anyone weighing in here.

I'm not very familiar with Cobra Commander as corporate despot, but it doesn't sound very intimidating. Sure they ruin lives and destroy the planet, but it's very long term, not the ka-boom/ka-crash that the Army would get involved in.

My mental lore is a little off-script, though; a blend of my 12yo play habits and my adult understanding of how the military and international terrorism works. If I ever finish my fanscript, some people are going to be mad.
