I'm with you. But while I prefer my Joes to be contemporary military with modern tech, I let my Cobra have access to more advanced or experimental weapons, including one single BAT for field testing. In other words, Cobra gets all sorts of Trubble Bubbles and HISS tanks, while all my Joes can hope for are a couple jetpacks and a single laser trooper.
And @docsilence has the right of it. I'm not any kind of special forces, but I was assigned to an NSW unit with some SEALs back in my Navy days and they're not far from how you described. Not to cartoonish Joe levels, but there's a real sense of 'authority is given to the ones who earn it' along with 'I only care that the job gets done.'
Hm... that makes sense with your version of Cobra. It makes me tempted to get one BAT, but I'm not sure what that will unleash. But with my Joes, I didn't even keep the Jetpacks. Just too much, heh.

I'm not terribly into any of these new leaks, sans one-
Cover Girl: Bless them for giving us two heads to fix our old figure. I might have to get dupes bc these heads are fab. I really like her new pants (bangin' thighs like Scarlett!), her color scheme, her accessories...she's great! Sad she lost her tablet with leg holster, though. That big smile head is just too cute and a welcome change from all the neutral heads we're getting lately.
Greenshirt could be neat, too early to judge. Flints head is weird, he looks like Gil from the Simpsons. His Outback-like body is a big improvement but I never disliked the old one (just the boots with those shin guards). BAT is neat for those who didn't army build the original; I really like all the different paint touches on his attachments (I never would have guessed PURPLE for that cake icing tube attachment). Tele-Viper be Tele-Viper'ing.
Overall cool reveals.

I didn't look took closely at the Cover Girl design in terms of parts reuse but she might be a good candidate for fixing my miserably mediocre Lady Jaye situation too. I may have to pick up two of her just for head swapping right off the bat.
Speaking of bats, my canon use of BATs is that they're experimental tech and since I have one of each color scheme, each unit gets its own BAT as a powerful weapon option... but BATs are not designed with great safety protocols and every unit lives in absolute terror that their squad's robot killing machine will turn on them at a most inopportune moment. (There's a pervading rumor that one team kept sending their BAT into situations they didn't want to do themselves and it turned on them out of spite. COBRA folklore.)
@docsilence I actually absolutely love that as the idea for BATS - and wish I had thought of that myself sooner before I bought multiples of the earlier versions. I limited myself to just one each of the arctic and Iron Grenadier versions - but I have at least two of the Crimson and a handful of the original release. I may shelve them anyway and go with that idea - it's better for a crowded display anyway probably.
Even those have a ball socket too large for a Joe ball neck
I've had great luck with the hot glue method for this. Remove the head, put a piece of cling wrap over the top of the figure, fill the head with the too-large-cavity with hot glue, then place it on the cling wrap-covered ball joint and push down until you think it's in the right spot. Let it harden for 24 hours. Remove head, cut off excess cling wrap. Best part is that it's non-permanent, you can always take a flathead screwdriver and pull out the hardened glue if you change your mind or dislike the placement.
Just got my "processing soon" e-mails from BBTS for Zandar, Leatherneck and Dial Tone. I canceled my SAW Vipers... decided those are a clearance price purchase at best. But as was stated, these showed up way earlier than originally forecast.
@panthercult You don't have to be member, the pics are on the main page for everyone to view. I like what is leaked so grabbing them all and extras of some. I'm thinking of downsizing my Joes/Cobras. I don't have a place to display everything and thinking about just having one of each regular Joe or Cobra and or faction and mixing the army builder's colors but downsizing them to just 12 of each army builder.

:shrug: I mean... I went to the site in the link - there were five listed html links but no viewable pictures, at least on my end. When I clicked on the links it told me I had to be a member to view. Doesn't matter now - since people posted them from instagram here and now they are on other sites as well so I have seen them.
@panthercult I came up with the idea after I bought two original BATS but figure it's okay to have two of them - I have one using the absolutely beat to **** chest plate and head. he's BAT 0001 and he is the LEAST trustworthy BAT in the whole army. I think my favorite thing about the Classified line is that, aside from Mythic Legions, it's the line I have the most interior dialogue going on when I buy them. There's always a story there. I use the one arctic bat with the two snow serpents - I got one of each because the color palettes are unique enough they play as two separate, unique characters. (The Crimson Guard think their BAT is top of the line. They have NO IDEA what it's thinking of doing when they sleep.)

So, I'm not sure if I even opened my second Arctic BAT - but I know I got two of the original arctic troopers with the deluxe load outs - and then geared them up differently, and then the retro, so I have a squad of three plus a BAT. I may have only grabbed one Python Patrol BAT as well, now that I think about it. So it's really just the original that I have a bunch of and two Crimson BATS. I do also have the oversized Ultimates BAT in blue from Super7 - I keep that one with Cobra Commander as part of his personal protection detail - because of course he'd want his to be BIGGER

@fletch I'd love to see him be a scary villain. I think I've backslid into thinking of him as a joke because the most evil people in the world have revealed themselves to be utter idiots and so it just makes sense that CC would be a self-absorbed fool. But also, that makes him terrifying because history has shown us it doesn't take a smart man to lead people off a cliff into violence and destruction.
Both Cover Girl and Flint are musts. I like this Flint alot, and I'd rather get this one then pay aftermarket for one I dont like as much.
