Storm Shadow hit my PoL a few days ago. I'm waiting on a couple things before I ship him and the DP figures I have sitting there.

Alpine is the big want from this latest wave. I tried the old Barnes and Noble trick but neither of my local stores carry action figures anymore.

Dragonfly just arrived! Won't be able to crack it open til tonight, but they somehow managed to ship it in a reasonably sized box. Labeled ACTION FIGURES on the outside, so thanks...

Got notification that grenadier BAT and Storm Shadow will ship in a few days from Amazon.

Nemesis Immortal arrived yesterday (did they ever explain the name change?). Man. I know there's a love/hate relationship with Cobra-La but this guy... I opened this guy up and my first thought is "this man kills heroes." He's so alien, so grotesque, so BIG. really the only thing I don't like about him is the sheaths because they look manufactured. Otherwise, those swords look like bone shards from the corpse of some unspeakable horror. His armor looks actively violent. The wings are creepy AF. Put him up against a couple of Joes and it's like: "run." I can't wait to see what else they do with Cobra-La, cos between him and the bang-up job they did with Once a Man CoCo , they're knocking it out of the park.

Alpine is the only figure I have in hand from this wave because I found him at Target. I tried giving him one of my spare TF Outback backpacks, but it was too big and the length doesn't work because his buttpack gets in the way.  I like home quite a bit, but I'm one of those that prefers the Joe faction, not like you heathens with your Cobra La figures.

I have seen zero opinions of the Dragonfly so far.  Just took a look at the figures and Crazy Legs looks like an Ezra Miller Selfie Series figure to me.  I don't know if it truly looks like him, but that was my first reaction (don't plan on Googling to confirm).  There's a certain amount of softness to the face paint apps that scream Selfie Series or Black Series before face printing.  This includes Ripcord to a lesser extent.

@mrboshek I haven't been loving the early peeks at Dragonfly figure screenings, either.  The head plastic looks semi-translucent, the printings are too photoreal and soft.  I like a nice semi-exaggerated head like Outback or Kamakura.  Thankfully they all have helmets, lol!  Truthfully, if I had known they'd look this way, I might have passed.  Why can't Classified seem to nail down a "look" for head sculpts?  Is it a factory issue?  Strong dislike for the uncanny valley modern Hasbro sculpts/paint that make them look like creepy shrunken people.

@vicious7171 Yes, semi-translucent.  It seems more noticeable with Crazy Legs and not so much the other figures, imo.  It wouldn't stop me from buying any one of these figures.  Just a nitpicky critique.

Looks like Amazon shipped V2 Storm Shadow and should arrive tomorrow.

Also noticed my local Ross getting a bunch of Tiger Force Dusty for 7.99. There doesn’t seem to be as much Classifieds at Ross this year in my neck of the woods compared to last year. Stock seems minimal. I remember seeing Classifieds hitting Ross pretty hard around August/September.

I was still in need of my toy therapy after a long week and Nemesis Enforcer may not be in the cards for me.  So I did an order pick up for Road Pig today and got the Target 25% off with him.  $45 is $10 too much, but that got me to a price I was happy with.  I've been lagging on all my toy buying lately, but Classified is the only one I really miss.  He looks to be a good "welcome back" offering.  Looking forward to cracking him open.

I just cracked open the boxes for a preliminary look and yeah, there's a softness to the heads, at least on the men, that is softer than the rest of the line. It's very weird - the sculpts themselves fit in perfectly with Classified but the PLASTIC itself looks very different. I don't dislike them as figures, but there's something a bit too... real-skin-like? about the heads.

I'm about to pop the chopper together. After all my worries about the space it would required, I'll be honest - it's not as intimidating as I thought. It still needs a really nice spot to display with some room for the blades, but it's a good scale to play around with, like I want to get some good daylight for action shots tomorrow if I can get it.

I am OVERWHELMED by the accessories, though, it's a lot. Gonna end up putting a lot of them into their own little bin for now til I figure it all out.

Also the packaging is GORGEOUS, so much so I wish I didn't have to break it all down for space.

So I finally cracked open Roadpig and I got to thinking what other character could share parts with this chunky bubba and then Horrorshow popped in my head. A modern interpretation, a few rubber overlays, Bazookas....well bazooka, new head sculpt. Done son.

Okay, had time to unbox the Dragonfly. Some quick thoughts:

  • This line and its vehicles. Nothing makes me feel like a little kid the way their vehicles do. They're complex and detailed and have tons of bells and whistles, but at the end of the day, these are TOYS. They beg to be posed and played with. That should be the assignment, right? I literally could've gone full little kid in my studio, sat on the floor and messed around with this thing for hours. It's far lighter than the HISS, too, so it's fun to just life up and look at.
  • I'll be honest - the effects and such are overkill for me. I could've lived without all the stickers and blast effects. The base model is just that cool.
  • Swapping out the different armaments is VERY easy. Bravo on the engineering here - never feels like I'm gonna break something by swapping parts, but they're also build in a way where it feels secure once the parts are in place.
  • Only complaints - the cockpit is a bit of a struggle to get pilots into, and Glenda's hips don't have the ROM to get her in there comfortably. the seatbelts are a cool effect but kind of a hassle - I could've lived without that level of realism in favor of easy of use. But once they're in they look great.
  • The figures have the best, THE best, smoothness of joints and movement of any I've seen in this line so far. I don't know why. Maybe they cut back on the ratchets? But all four are perfect, and anyone I've talked to in this thread knows I have EPIC bad luck with stuck joints. 🙂
  • The swappable hair on Wild Bill and Glenda stay on better than any previous swappable options. Just feels like an improvement. Wild Bill's pistol grips are a little bit thick for his hands. I worry about scraping the paint.
  • I'm sure we'll see classic Wild Bill, Rip Cord, and Crazylegs, and they're good enough I'd pick up their classic colors in a heartbeat. (Assuming this is the only Glenda we'll get - she's just on the classic Scarlet/Quiver buck with some overlays though.)

Last thought: the two display options are really nice. The stand is secure but doesn't lock in sow it's easy to move; and including the clear bar to protect the landing gear was very smart. It's not such a heavy frame that I think it puts the gear at risk, but just that little bit of extra care and engineering is very smart on their part and much appreciated.

Laserpants posted a picture of Slice wearing Mezco Indy's fedora. It didn't get much if any attention, but a few weeks ago he mentioned a Classified x TMNT crossover on his livestream. I think he was serious.

He was the guy with the grayscale Nemesis head sculpts that started a mini YouTube war, that spilled over to Instagram. He seems to have a source somewhere, I think he confirmed they aren't directly with Hasbro.  Possibly someone in a factory?
