Yeah, why does it attach so high on his back? It’s silly.
Backpacks are really the thing I wish this line would do better. As a grown up, I’m less inclined to suspend disbelief that a backpack wouldn’t be slung onto shoulders with straps. Some figures have some element to their torsos that make it appear to have straps for a backpack, but these packs should just come with straps. Removable or not.
Agree on the backpacks, I also hate when you get a good pack like for the Crimson Guard that can hold everything vs a Dukes which cant hold anything.
I haven't had a chance to compare side by side, but isn't Starduster a complete repaint of retro Duke? Like they were waiting to release that version of Duke just so they could turn it into Starduster.
I received him and Falcon/Quarrel yesterday, and I'm mostly satisfied. I have a lot of attachment to Starduster, but this figure is kinda run of the mill. It being so closely based on retro Duke, there were really no surprises. I don't love how the binoculars hang on his neck, but almost never have in the history of GI Joe figures. I like the blast effects for the jet pack, but how is that not going to scorch his legs? Another problem I've had since I was little. I do like the variety of hands that are included with him. It's a good looking figure and I'd like to find a unique way to display him. I wanna dig out my original just for kicks.
Falcon and Quarrel are also good. I'm not sure what the base body is for Falcon, but I dig it. I pulled off the cumbersome shoulder armor from him, but left it on Quarrel to differentiate her more from Scarlett. Also considering abandoning the crossbow and bolt quiver to differentiate her further. I put the night goggles on her, but I'd like to give her better, sleeker weapons than the clunky ones the figures come with. Also, is there a place for the little flashlights from Tunnel Rat? I've yet to swap heads onto the previous Falcon, whose head is already swapped with Grunt. Not sure if I'll re-swap that head, or just put the helmet on NF Falcon and not use the Charlie McCarthy head at all.
😪 Messing around with my Retro Duke last night-that I got months ago-and his left leg sheared off right where it connects into the leg. It has always been tight but didn't feel like it was stressing in any way. He is one of my favorites and I will definitely be getting another one. Fortunately he is not hard to find. He will be getting a serious hot water bath before moving all the joints.

It's definitely worth a call to Hasbro customer service. I don't know what the statute of limitations is on making people whole, but they've always been helpful for me even if they can't replace the exact figure. My ML Iron Man mk 20 came with the back fins all bent out of shape - they didn't have any in stock, but the rep mentioned they had Superior Iron Man available, which I was intending to get anyway. So I was pretty happy with that.
Definitely reach out to Customer Service. You may not get an exact replacement but they'll at least send you something for it. I've had legs snap off 2-3 figures and either gotten a replacement or the "equal or greater value" option.
@normdapito He's almost entirely a repaint of Duke. New head sculpt and a bit of fancy wrist additions for gloves but otherwise 1:1 repaint. (Which isn't awful since the Duke figure is really good.)

So... I think I'm going to have to call Hasbro and ask about my order with Starduster. I ordered him with Kang and the Spidey/Vulture 2-pack.... most people got Kang and the 2-pack a couple of weeks ago - but I never did, and the Pulse web page is stupid for updating the order status. When I go today - all three items still just say "pending" - none have shipped. Apparently I should have ordered them separately so the in-stock items could have shipped then and Starduster could have shipped now. I hate having to call their customer service line though. Sigh.
I'm just jealous of all this talk about the figure and I don't even have an idea of when I might get mine.
Edit: Called them - they told me they tried to ship me my items but my credit card on file failed. Curious since it's my Visa debit card that has been active the entire time, which Amazon, Wal Mart and Target have all had no problem charging - several of them on the very same day. Sigh. The only solution, apparently was to reenter my payment card information so they can re-process the order payment now. Stupid Pulse.

I know there was some glitchy shit going on that day when these items went up for sale. BUT I know that in stock vs preorder has no bearing on regular orders. I've ordered in stock along with POs with different ETAs. Once something is in stock, it ships. Items that aren't in stock don't affect or delay the shipment of in stock items. I'd definitely try contacting them, if not by phone, then by email. They respond to emails too if you include your order numbers.
Also, is there a place for the little flashlights from Tunnel Rat?
I only JUST found one on Falcon's belt, on his left side there's a loop. I haven't looked at Quarrel yet but I assume she has something similar.

I just got a notification from Toynewsi about a Saw Viper on walmart.com. It looks like the same figure I ordered last month 🤷
