Hasbro toys are stacking up. I just can’t keep up unboxing them. I’m still enjoying the snipers playing around with load outs for the two portraits on Marine and Lady Jaye body. I have been poaching weapons from so many.
Its fun. I can enjoy the other stacks later.
Thwipp!
I’m on the Spearhead and Max boat too. He was the last Joe I purchased as a kid.
Spearhead and Max (and Sneak Peak too) were definitely after I had moved on from my Joe Collecting back in the day... but a bobcat as a ride along is too cool.
And did night force Spearhead really have a black colored bobcat as his pal? That's next level. Gonna need all of that in the collection, thank you.
That bird has rank?! Damn. Chip doesn't even hold rank.
No one named 'Chip' holds rank. Chips can't be trusted. Look at that Rescue Ranger going all Stolen Valor and pretending to be a WWII pilot. We see you, fur-ball. Not cool.
@normdapito The 'Raptor' year was a great year. We've already gotten some great figures from '87 like Outback, Raptor, Techno-Viper, Croc Master, etc. But there's some great ones left in the tank; Fast-Draw, armored CC, Crazy Legs, Ice Viper, AND Battle Force 2000. Classified could basically build out an entire year of product on just the remaining great '87 figures.
Also gotta agree with the common wisdom that Hasbro is killing the 1:12 animal companion game. In some ways it's more impressive to see all these unique animal sculpts because there's basically no, or very little, potential for re-use unless Hasbro is planning some big articulated animals line we don't know about.
Can't wait to see the giant fucking articulated scorpion they make for Desert Scorpion. Unless they PUNK OUT LIKE LITTLE BITCHES and do the robot one or whatever from later figures.
@docsilence YES. Spearhead and Max is probably in, or very close to being in, my top ten most-wanted Joes at this point. He was a favorite of mine as a kid. The adult in me says NF, but the child in me says the adult in my should STFU and get the ridiculous one because it is pure nostalgic joy.
I want a Desert Scorpion on his own merit, but a large, articulated scorpion accessory would guarantee day one pre-order.
All this Spearhead and Max love is making me really happy. I always thought he was late enough in the line and not memorable enough without the bobcat to be that memorable but maybe if we all want a figure this much, the team agrees. (Now that they've previewed Law and Order I'm like... we are SO close to getting all those core animal companion figures!)
@ru1977 I've always been more Marvel or Star Wars oriented, but this line is so well done it's become the line I open like, five minutes after the package arrives. My Marvel buys can wait a few days lately, and sometimes Star Wars will linger for a week or two before I make time to unbox everything.
@docsilence That cat was SO memorable for me. Completely static but I played with that cat a lot. Always teaming up with Timber.
And I've always, well.... I've always been a Star Wars guy. That's always been my number one, and Marvel has been something I've been into just slightly longer than GI Joe, but I kept up with Marvel the whole time (either through the comics or the movies). GI Joe I fell off of and didn't collect (for myself anyway, my son had some from the movies) since I was 12 or 13 until recently. But yeah, I'm really loving these figures. I even sold a bunch of Black Series figures to have more fun money for Joes. And I crossed out a lot of names from my MCU wishlist (the characters I hope appear in movies and get figures) to ensure I have money later on for more Joes! Heh.
Just got Retro Stalker thanks to the DD sale. Stiffest joints I've seen in a while. Actually skinned my finger trying to bend his leg. LOL! Surprisingly, the waist wasn't f'd like so many others have been recently. Now I have to dig out my updated to mess around with different looks.
Spearhead is one of those garage sale Joes I had growing up and had no idea who he was until just now. He was always one of me least-favorites but I imagine if I had his pet buddy and helmet, that would have changed. Saw this after a quick google search, I'd absolutely buy this pack in Classified:
NF Shockwave has grown on me and I like him so much more than regular Shockwave. At this point, I feel like Classified Night Force has no bad figures (I don't own Tunnel Rat though) and they're becoming my favorite squad on the shelf.
@vicious7171 I also feel NF has no bad figures, and wouldn't hesitate to buy a Classified set like that either.
I'd buy a Muskrat/Spearhead and Max Night Force set in a heartbeat. And I would absolutely buy Max twice, once in orange and once in black.
Night Force really is a great sub-set. They're subtle enough they can be woven into the main squad but have a unified color palette that ties them all together it's great stuff.
Definitely want the original Spearhead. There was something pure about his colorful sherbet Push Up Pop aggression. Just undiluted "I KNOW YOU CAN SEE ME AND NOW YOU'RE DEAD."
He's basically the Joes version of an Alley Viper. Ugly, bright orange frontline named fighter, but with camo pattern and simple deco instead of snake deco army builder.
You know Classified will tone down the orange. I’m still interested in seeing how they’d do that. I never had issue with his orange, just couldn’t imagine where that kind of color would help him blend in. The desert?
So I got my Retro CC finally and I seem to have lucked out for the the most part. The paint deco on the stripe is good with no splatter, or uneven application. However it is slightly off to the left and not dead centre. At first I didn't really notice but upon closer inspection I could tell. Also the stripe is fairly "fat" as it goes from front to back.
So I don't know if that is common, but it looks like the factory couldn't quite do that paint deco.
Also. Is anyone else having issues with the site? When I post I get a wordpress database error. Then when I clicked back on the page, my post is there. So it isn't stopping me from posting, but it is weird. Also as of today I am now seeing errors at the top of each page, and under each subforum heading.
Anyone else seeing these issues?
