Maybe they just had one guy loading the Hasbro drops today and he did the Marvel Legends and then the Transformers and then the Star Wars and it just took him a minute to get to the G.I. Joe  😀

Dialtone

Leatherneck

Saw Viper

Zandar

I couldn't find the links without preternia's help and I think searching for "newest arrivals" was making it worse.

That was an adventure.

I was bouncing between website and app for 15 min then changed to PayPal for my exclusives purchase and lichety split it went through.

Bought all the preorders through Amazon.

Crazy.

Thwipp!

As I mentioned during the render reveal, I’m a big Leatherneck fan but disappointed by this figure. Sleeve rolled up, cant use the symbol, but now there’s another issue. Why does Leatherneck have an army staff sergeants insignia? His ARAH bio explicitly calls him out as a mean gunnery sergeant. The team really dropped the ball on this figure.

Like all the others though. Might get Dial Tone and SAW Viper.

Just Zandar for me. I had Dial-Tone growing up, but always wished I had Breaker instead. I might pick DT up on clearance if he makes it that far and if I stumble across him during one of my few brick-and-mortar hunts. I really, deeply dislike that Heavy Duty reveal. I never signed up for Pulse Premium, and I'm glad I didn't because I would not be civil in my correspondence. I feel for you all that had to deal with that.

I was having the same issues with Pulse. Order error messages due to high volume on both the website and the app. I was actually signed into the website long before start time and the minute these went up, I was logged out. So that was the first delay. Tried with a full cart of 18 items, in stock and preorders. Then tried different combinations of in stock only, preorders only, one or two items at a time. Took 45 minutes of that until I tried an order of just Starduster, and it went through. Then I started placing separate orders of clusters of figures. All in stock exclusives went through. Transformers POs went through. Combined new wave of Classiifed with Secret Wars (missed Wolvie and Spidey to sell out) and BS Prince Xizor. Got everything I wanted.

Surprised that new wave of Classified is over a year away.

And what’s the reference to Doc and the Saw Viper?

@normdapito in the comics, the Saw Viper was used to trim the cast down by executing several Joes held by Cobra, one of whom was Doc.

@normdapito it seriously is. I forget how many now... Nearly a dozen? At the time it was devastating and clearly a lot of us have never forgotten. To me it's one of the biggest "I can't believe that happened" comic moments.

A DOZEN? Do I want to know who the rest of the victims were??

@normdapito I finally looked it up and it's only seven.

Spoiler
In case you do wanna know, and knowing is half the battle

Doc, Heavy Metal, Thunder, Crankcase, Breaker, Crazylegs, and Quick Kick.

The way I remember it may be worse than reality, but in my head some of them were even sacrificing themselves by stepping in the front to save some of the others.

I remember that comic .  I wasn’t collecting Joe comics at the time but while I was in the comic shop, I think the comic cover caught my attention. When I read it, I was like wait….what?  Literally felt like when Megatron and the deceptions breached the autobot shuttle in the animated movie and the executions began. I remember feeling kinda bad the whole day after reading that.

The Pulse checkout yesterday was bad. However, I noticed that between myself and a few other local collectors, our orders were not getting through the first 45 minutes or so. Once the time started getting near the end of the hour and before the non members could order, all our orders went through no problem. Some payed by CC or PayPal, some were using their phones or laptops, and some made new orders after their first went through. By that time near the end of the hour, every order processed smoothly.

@leor I just read a recap of that issue and I'm feeling bad all over again, but yeah very comparable to the transformers movie. That was another "whoa, what the hell is happening" moment for sure. And of course the Joe comic had deaths here and there all along, but that issue was just chock full and really stuck with me

@spongyblue He's not mad, he's just disappointed in us

Man, that Spoils of War issue really crushed something in me as a kid. I may be misremembering it but I remember chatter at the time that Hama was being pressured to make it more "realistic" and "soldiers die in war" and finally he was like: okay here you go and served up twelve brutal, barely written, heartless deaths in one issue and then another dozen or so the next issue. It's very likely I'm just remembering a comic book store rumor but it felt like that at the time - those deaths felt utterly meaningless and almost mean-spirited, which Hama never was.
