@snake-eyes-8181 If I'm remembering like, 40 years ago correctly, that was the version of Stalker I had first (I never had the original version of him). I'd buy puffer coat and kayak Stalker in Classified form in a heartbeat.

I found a Cover Girl fairly decently priced and ended up buying her. Finally got her in the mail. Wow she's a cool ass figure. Probably one of my faves. For some reason I just really love it. Although, I notice the head portrait looks like Joan Rivers, post op, somewhere mid life, not what she looked like when she died.

I also preordered Jinx. She looks pretty sweet too. Not sure what is wrong with her that people don't like.

Yknow what does bother me though, is they keep making Snake Eyes sword sheath face the wrong way. The blade needs to face up. It was especially egregious on the movie version. But I noticed some of the other ones have this problem too. It looks odd, and if it were irl, would function poorly. There are reasons they wear swords on their backs like they do. The way the figures are doing it is counter intuitive.

The only Stalker and Hawk figures I had growing up were the ones with the talking/sound effect backpacks. I'm waiting for Classified versions of those to happen. And v2 EELS. Come on, Hasbro. Those guys were too crazy not to make.

He was  my first Stalker too. I got him, Alley Viper and Annihilator at the same time. I really hope they do get to him at some point. But I feel the retro Stalker is going to peg warm. You can still buy the original on Amazon for half price.

@theknightdamien that's personally my favorite Stalker.  I really hope they get to him at some point, but I think it's probably unlikely.  V2 Eels might though, Lenny seemed pretty excited about those during the last stream.  They should start a new sub-line of sorts that's all 90s neon and bright colors.  Commit to a couple 3-figure waves of garishness a year, put them in different packaging, make them seem different on purpose rather than the "we've run out of ideas!" reality.  I don't think most of them would sell very well in a normal wave but if they can market them to feel cool and special I think they'd do ok.

I personally didn't grow up having Joes in my collections so add-ons, re-designs don't bother me. I just like good 6 inch action figures and wanted 6 inch GI Joes since I didn't care for the 3 3/4 inch ones when I saw them in ToysRUs. I didn't even realize after pre-ordering this was Storm Shadow even after watching the fan video, lol. I did know though after the conversations here and went back to my pre-order and read the description.

So I decided since they were at Ollie's for $5 I would nab the snake eyes movie figures. They had all but Storm Shadus.

I trimmed down Baroness neck on the bottom cause it was way too long, and movie accuracy has the choker on the bottom touching her shoulders. That figure otherwise isn't awful. Has some odd proportions but it's not bad.

Why do people not like the Snake Eyes figure? I think he looks pretty cool. Gave him a gun holster and heated up his sword sheath to bend it the other way and now he looks better. But he does have this weird issue where his left shoulder is lower then his right shoulder. Is that common? Or did I get a bad one? I may tear it apart and try to see what the issue is, and fix it if I can. I do have the first release Snake Eyes on the way, since he looks like the best one they made so far. But this one isn't bad for $5.

Hey guys.. remember how if you click 'Reply' to someone when you've already typed a reply to someone else, the forum will delete your entire post and replace it with the new @ ?  I did not remember that, and this fucking awful new forum software deleted my entire post. That was super fun.
Edit: AND the forum went ahead and fucked up all of my text again. I still can't figure out why the goddamn fuck it keeps doing this. Honestly. Worst version of Fwoosh by a LONG shot. Glad we're all still here, but fuck sake I hate posting here now.

@mikeysee  I'm not sure I think anything is unlikely at this point - except maybe retreads of stuff they've already done. Which is why I'm not hopeful that we'll ever get the proper Ninja Force Storm Shadow that we deserve instead of that terrible exclusive figure we got.

In terms of basically anything from the '90s, I think there's a strong argument to be made that '90s nostalgia is so big right now that the Classified team has GOT to be thinking that those designs, one and all, are worth visiting to see how they perform. Even if you think 'well, it's kind of an ugly colorway' or something.. like.. they've been hitting Tiger Force and Python Patrol. Those decos are often pretty hideous, in an amazing kind of way. I imagine the only thing they're going to worry about is 'are people going to buy this?' And the answer with anything ARAH-based seems to be 'yeah, they will.'

@jayjonah  I don't think it's specifically ever about 'redesigns' on their own. Obviously all in my opinion; this Storm Shadow has a bad design. They did a bad job translating that original design. So when I complain about all the things I hate about it and contrast it with the vintage toy, it's not because I think the vintage toy is sacrosanct and that the new figure must be EXACTLY the same. Rather, it's to point out what worked on that toy and what doesn't work on this one.
Because you can update and change a design without deciding to just needlessly complicate it by adding stuff until there's no surface area left to add more stuff. The MCU-ification of costumes. The new Storm Shadow, again in my opinion, isn't a bad design because it doesn't slavishly follow the origin. It's JUST a bad design. But it's -also- disappointing separately and distinctly by being based on such a better design.
It's one thing to just make an ugly design. It's quite a different thing to actively turn a good design into a bad one.

I would say there's certainly things that could have been done to spruce up the original v2 SS and make it look different but still cool and faithful to the spirit of that design. There's ways you could spruce it up that are NOT faithful to the original but would look and function really nice. This design doesn't do either of those things.

But this is all just me whining. Not arguing with anyone that does like it. More power to you if you do. I hope enough people buy this to convince Hasbro it's worth doing a more vintagey version at some point.

I wonder if the samurai/ninja hybrid motif SS V2 has going was someone’s idea to symbolize Tommy’s path of change from being the stealth assassin for Cobra the Enemy to the more honorable warrior (like a samurai but still a ninja)) that would now help the Joes. Because other than sharing parts with a future Budo figure, I am also wondering about SS V2 looking part samurai.  Plus it’s Storm Shadow. And this is Hasbro. There is most likely a retro SS V2 down the line. They just want people to double dip later.

Didn’t know about the quote glitch. I’ve been posting then going back to edit to avoid the refresh purging of comments.

it may take a couple saves and edits. It seems to work.

Thwipp!

Yeah, haven't personally seen any glitches. He may have just been signed out or something. I do hate how I have to do math to login, which it seems to make me do everytime.

Stalker with the white jacket and kayak was my version, too. Hope we get that one!

And Eel v2 with the yellow armor and big red eyes (like Black Manta!) and robot shark is one of my favorites of the original line! Definitely want that figure in 1/12 form!

@trunks3540 I never even saw the movie but I picked up the figures super cheap a long while back and they're really nice figures. Really smooth ROM on all of them and generic enough they fit in as non-movie figures. (Kinda love having a Baroness with a change-it-up hairstyle, and for a while the movie Storm Shadow was the only one I had without mucked up hips.)

I kinda wish he was there cause he looked decent but he was not. I got Lady Jaye today. She's alright, but now I remember why I didn't buy her at full price. Her head looks a bit small and her outfit feels kinda plain. She doesn't pop as much as the other figures I have, which is odd cause she shares a lower half with Cover Girl and I love that figure. But most of her personality is up top. The bomber jacket and head are really well done. She kinda looks like what Indiana Jones would if he were a chick lol. Maybe a bit of Lara Croft in there.

Does Baroness ever actually use the Kukri in the movie? I only saw it once so I don't remember. I may have to watch it again to find out. It just seems like an odd choice of weapon to give her if she didn't actually use them.

A somewhat amusing story related to Torch.  I pulled a Mobile Command Center off the shelf in what I guess you would call my utility room.  As I'm giving it a nice cleanup, I find Torch and Monkeywrench in the jail. They must've been there for around 35 years.  They died in jail of broken O-rings 😥 😥 .
