I think I may end up chopping off or at least removing most of SS belt area and reworking some of it. Maybe figure out a way to attach the sheaths to his back, before I chop them off. And then mess with the belt and skirt portions. Him not having literally any kind of glove is also a head scratcher. Archers use gloves for reasons. Ninjas do as well. Him not having any is odd. Also maybe just rotating the belt to his right to put the sheaths on the back could fix their orientation issue a bit, but not sure how that would affect the skirt portions. Most of that would need to be chopped off.

I don't know what you mean by ninja wear gloves for a reason. Ninja.. aren't real? And the Hollywood 'gloved ninja' often wasn't using bows at all. But either way, I'm okay with him not having gloves. The vintage toy didn't, which is a pretty important indicator of how this figure should look, in my opinion. But also because most archers throughout history did not wear any kind of gloves.
A good chunk of modern archers don't either. The ones that do are either super-wimps that barely ever do archery and so don't have any callouses at all, or are practicing intense sport archery where they can expect to experience discomfort from the pure amount of shooting they'll be doing in a short period of time. I don't think either of these things are concerns that would apply to a fantasy commando-ninja with like.. a half-dozen arrows available to him, max?
Interesting idea about rotating the belt. I think it's going to depend on your tastes, for sure, though. Going back to look again at the video, the belt is very different on the back than the front, so you'll lose the white pouches and gain the black pouch in front. I think it might be hard to say right now if there's any good fixes for some of the poor decisions here, because it's kind of hard to tell (for me, at least - maybe I'm old and blind) where and how everything connects, and therefore what will be easier or more difficult to remove or shift around.
If the scabbards connect to that stupid little flap, then cutting the flap off will necessitate re-attaching the scabbards somewhere else regardless of how you choose to orient the belt itself.
Ugh. So disappointing to even have to be talking about this.
WOW, what a time to be a GI JOE collector, this is the pinnacle for me. Holy grail, 6 inch CC is now a reality.
i never buy 2 figures of the same figure but this i gotta do it. one for play and one for display. the longer gloves and vac metal seals the deal. AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like crying, to me GI JOE is more important than TMNT, MOTU, Transformers and T.Cats
God I hate the resets this forum has.
To sum up my somewhat longer post. I love Alpine, every detail!
Freaking Fwoosh Reset…
Thwipp!
I'm coming to accept that my Joe Collection is pretty much done and that I'm happy with almost all of the designs we got.
What I really have to decide is if that means more money to spend on increasing incremental upgrades like Troopers with better articulation, or more Monster Force.
I thought I wanted a SAW Viper, but that's a whole lot of just purple. Maybe I really just wanted a SAW-equipped Trooper.
@supercamel-1982 I agree that some of the current/upcoming releases can be improved to look more like ARAH so a Retro card release makes sense. Also some of them probably don't need a Retro card release because, as you said, they are close enough.
The only problem is time. If they stick to the 9 Retro figures a year format that means we could be waiting years for some characters to get a Retro card release to be more in line with their ARAH look. Thankfully they have done quite a few already, but there are still a lot that could be done. Based on what I have seen/read on different forums there could be up to 2 years worth of releases that could still be done before getting to the 2024 releases (if they went in a chronological order that is).
The big ones are Roadblock, both V1 and V2 could be "updated" to better fit the ARAH style. Though I think the Amazon HA Roadblock was pretty close to V1. Snake Eyes V2 w/Timber, Flint, Major Bludd, CC w/hood (not likely though), Red Ninja using Storm Shadow mold, Viper with tweaks to fit ARAH style even moreso, Breaker, Cobra Officer, Dr. Mindbender, Serpentor, Dusty, Rock & Roll, Cover Girl, Snow Job, Chuckles and on and on.
OOF the Retro line could be pain in the wallet in the coming years.
I hope we get more Retro resculpts and less Retro repaints. Stalker, I'm looking at you. Coulda used a new head, just saying!
If Scarlett got a new head, Stalker should have too. I fully expected a new head after Scarlett.
Stalker probably will get a new headsculpt. On V2. Which will probably be a deluxe. His beanie might be removable so you can swap the head out to the retro. Possibly Hasbro enticing you to double dip for a better more accurate headsculpt later.
I didn't get into GI Joe until 1985, so figures like Alpine really tug my nostalgia bone. And Storm Shadow V2 ended up being one of my favorite Joe figures of all time. And I don't think this figure is seriously terrible, but it's definitely not what I'd be looking for with a 6 inch version. I did preorder it, but I'm almost positive I'm going to cancel it.
So someone on Twitter last night posted a side by side of the vintage V2 Storm Shadow and the new Classified and said 'they look just the same - what is everyone on about'
and it was a convenient way to be able to point out exactly what doesn't work for me on the Classified version - the belt and loincloth combo is bulky and terrible and the vintage figure without it looks much sleeker. And the gaudy red and black shin guards on the Classified figure are clunky and unnecessary. It's honestly those few extra flourishes that make the Classified version look even more garish and ridiculous.
Sometimes Classified trips across the line into 'overdesigned' to its detriment and this is one of those times.

That's so much "probably"! 100% not confirmed!
@panthercult there are a lot of things they did that don't bother me. The scabbards are one thing that does, but the main thing for me is the Kenny McCormick hood. I know that will annoy me every time I look at the figure on the shelf. I really would have been very happy with something closer to the original card art.
