Target is offering 30% off Joe and other items. Mutt & Junkyard are down to $30 and Metalhead is at regular fig price.
Headed out to Target this morning to see what I could get on sale, and even with the sale, I couldn't pull the trigger on Metal Head or Mutt/Junkyard. I have no connection to Metal Head, and there are no other Iron Grenadiers in the series yet, so I have little incentive to buy him, even at 25. Mutt and Junkyard, I just want an extra set for the dog! $30+ is still too much for that, and I think both are hanging around long enough at these Targets that I think a steeper discount will come soon.
If the rumors are correct then you will have at least Iron Grenadiers and BATs is some Destro format to go along with Metal Head. Well you will see the preorder for those in June along with Alpine and a mystery fourth. I’m thinking the fourth is a Joe we haven’t had name dropped yet. The Full Force has been quite tight lipped on its reveal I think he’s trying to keep it as a surprise. I wonder…Pythona?
Thwipp!
As neat as the extra head parts are on Mutt and Metalhead, seeing these clearance overstock sales really makes me think they missed the boat not just making them alt heads. Sure you could buy three Metalheads and throw the helmet on two of them, but they'd still have the same facial hair and expression. Maybe I'm way off here and I'm overestimating how much people army build G I Joe.
...that's a joke btw.
@prophet there have been rumors going around that the fourth figure is Storm Shadow V2. Which I really hope turns out to be true
@snake-eyes-8181 Yeah and I think Chris at The Full Force is a bit gun shy after accidentally spilling the beans about the IG BAT. He is much more careful about information concerning releases that he knows are coming.
I will say I am surprised the Joe team has kept so tight lipped about the next wave since it is going to, most likely, go up for preorder in the first two weeks of Yo Joe June.
I feel the current sale with Mutt and Junkyard is actually near the real price this set is worth. If you were balking in getting them, this is probably a good time to pick one up. Same with Metalhead.
Lol I was watching the live stream when Chris let it slip by accident. Poor guy but yeah he is defiantly more tight lipped about things now. My info comes from a source named Willie Pete who will pop on Hiss tank every once in awhile. He said it will be the fifth version of that character made for the mysterious fourth figure of that wave. Which does narrow done. I think the only other figure that would fit in that category is Roadblock if you are including the field variations. But I also have a feeling Roadblock might be the in the next retro wave since they do have the tooling for Ma duce now.
They do seem tighter about things now but I think that also has to do with production being smoother now and not having these large gaps between releases were they had to do name drops and render reveals to keep the fans interested the previous years
Ah Snake Eyes does make sense.
I’m most excited about the other three. Alpine to complete the Sunbow three musketeers is awesome. I just need a Skyhawk or Armadillo to display the three together.
Thwipp!
Hey all,
I dropped off classified a while back as they just weren’t doing it for me. Can’t quite put my finger on it - I liked the designs but in hand they just didn’t feel fun to mess with for me (compared to the jada sf stuff for example).
But the ball waist plus ball torso set up I see on retro duke and the night creeper have me interested! What’s the consensus on how they work/don’t compared to the old set up? Better range of motion or expressiveness?
I remember not liking the drop down hips, and found a few of the figures had that ‘hasbro gummyness’. Is there any change on that side of things?
Thanks in advance all!
@allynewns the diaphragm joint is good but I can't say it is better then the ab crunch. Were they have really improved is the hip joint which was always to stiff and the fact the vest overlays are separated from the belt making articulation in the chest and waist a lot better. The gummyness has gotten better to some degree.
Overall the articulation has really improved from the first year or so and doesn't feel as stiff. I would try out Duke and see if you like it. He is a solid figure and probably one of the best of the line. He will be in my top ten for the year.
@allynewns Unfortunately, there's no consistency to the range on the upper diaphragm ball joint between different figures in the line. General Hawk's diaphragm joint has next to no range, while Retro Duke's ball joint has very good range. I think your best bet here is to watch youtube reviews from a non-shill.
Same goes with the gummyness. Overall it's a little better but it's still a bit of a QC lottery between figures.
Not sure if it was mentioned earlier in the thread but besides Mutt and Junkyard and Metalhead being on sale, the Joe Retros Duke, Scarlett, and Recondo are on sale at $17.49 I believe. Not as good as half price but fairly decent sale price. Not sure if these will even go on another clearance for less later. They seem to disappear within a week or two at least in my area. Maybe Recondo will go lower later?
@leor They'll all be lower later. It's just a matter of how long you want to wait and what you're willing to pay.
