Didn't realize Firefly's  holster was closed...now the silencer is stuck.

Heat with a hair dryer then pull out with tweezers?

@aggroninja well that's good news. They must've did small runs on them since they knew they were releasing  retros. Thanks

@vicious7171 according to the leak lists, there are figures codenamed Tom and Jerry coming under the 60th anniversary sub line.

I figure they are either female versions of the previous figures, or figures representing other services. The first two are basically modern reinterpretations of the action soldier and action sailor figures, so my first guess was the next figures will be the action marine and action pilot.

Man, I'm getting to the point where I'm not sure how I want to proceed.  For Classifieds I collect all the characters that were part of the Vintage RAH line in the 80's and 90's.  And so far, I have or have pre ordered everyone they've released from that line in Classified form.

But the vehicles.  I collect quite a few other lines, and buying all these vehicles, which don't get me wrong, I like and think look awesome, but they become a bit of an issues space wise.  And I would skip the vehicles, but then would I ever get the likes of Clutch, or Wild Bill and NF Crazy Legs that come with the helicopter?

So far, I have all the vehicles (or have them pre ordered like the VAMP and Haslab Helicopter), but going forward, how many more big vehicles do I want or have room for?  And I don't like the idea of having to buy them to get figures I really want from the 80's/90's RAH line in Classified form.  Especially when I know favorites can end up coming with vehicles, like Wild Bill and NF Crazy legs did, who are two of my absolute favorite figures from the vintage RAH line.

I don't know.  it feels rough collecting a line and feeling held hostage to vehicles in order to be able to complete what I want.  And I know I could always just sell the vehicles, but that can be a hassle.

Do you guys think we will for example ever see the likes of Wild Bill in that attire he has with the Haslab Chopper, or Night Force Crazy legs offered as single releases? Or Clutch?

I almost feel like Wild Bill and Clutch could be re-released on the Retro Cards.  But NF Crazy legs I feel like will never be released beyond Haslab. And I guess that's what bothers me.  I don't want to have to support a Haslab every year just to ensure my RAH Classified collection is complete, spending all that money and accumulating more big space consuming vehicles.

Anyone else having this dilemma?

And don't get me wrong, I think the vehicles are awesome!  But with all my other collections like MOTU and TMNT (geez, especially MOTU after that Eternia Playset), I just don't know what to do about GI Joe.  I want a complete Classified collection of the RAH figures, but I don't want to have to buy vehicles to get it.

Buy the figures separately off eBay, I guess. You’ll pay more, but avoid the hassle of the vehicles.

I mean could you just get a different Crazy Legs, which I’m pretty sure they will release in classic colors? I’m not sure the paint job is worth three times the price for that figure.

But if it’s about being a completist, then the vehicles are kind of necessary for you to buy.

@supreme_d   I was just using Crazy Legs and Wild Bill as a for instance.  I have already ordered the Haslab Helicopter with all those Tiers met.  So, I will get NF Crazy Legs no matter what.  But how many more times will they do that, where they add a figure or figures I must have, to a vehicle I don't need or have space for.

Because I don't feel I have to be a completest on the vehicles.  But I do on the figures.

I don't know.  I love this line, so honestly probably what I'll do is just say "screw it" and keep buying everything and figure it out later.

But I thought I'd just share my dilemma and talk it out here amongst other collectors. Where I don't sound AS crazy going over my neurotic toy thoughts.

I feel your pain SC....   I didn't go in on the Dragonfly Haslab because I don't have the space.   I am confident they will release a version of Wild Bill on a card - even if it's in a slightly different costume.   Same with most of the others - I'm confident we'll see versions of Rip Cord and Crazy Legs that don't require a vehicle.    Glenda might stay exclusive -  but that body will almost certainly be paired with a Scarlett head eventually and then Glenda can be recreated with a head swap.

Going forward the vehicle space is extremely limited so I won't be all in on vehicles.   I did order the Jeep -  but after that I'm not sure what other vehicles I would invest in.   I'd be tempted by the Snowcat  - that was my favorite as a kid.... but I don't have room for many others.    If there are exclusive characters locked with vehicles I may just have to live without them.

If I were in this boat I'm pretty sure I would just buy the set, sell the vehicle, keep the figure(s).

'Snapper's reply seems like the safest. I suspect there will be more people wanting multiple VAMPs than multiple Clutches, fer instance. And if it's a HasLab vehicle, you'll even make a profit.

I was initially very space conscious, but I've just had to accept the strategy of buying the vehicles I want and storing them for some vague future where I have more space rather than miss out entirely.

Even dumber, there are characters with those vehicles that I absolutely don't want (like Glenda or Mickey Mouse Cobra Commander) but won't sell because that would make the item incomplete. So they'll just sit in a box until the day I die and hopefully give a resell boost for my kids.

@supercamel-1982 I feel your pain. I’m by no means a completist, but GI Joe has always been one of my favorite toy lines, so its hard for me to not buy all the stuff. Especially since the design team has done such a great job with these figures in the last couple years. I just keep reminding myself I dont have the space, and that I have to prioritize my purchases. I created a list of characters that I know I’ll buy when announced, and then a sort of secondary list of slots for what I might get if its cheap. Then I allow a set small number of “impulse buy” spots per year that I consider filled if I buy a figure that wasn’t on my list because its cheap or just looks cool at the store.

As a completist, maybe you can make a list of vehicles you are willing to buy (or types of vehicles) and then for the others either buy the associated figures separately, or buy the sets and sell the vehicle itself?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and talkin' it out with me. I'm definitely going to keep collecting the line, as GI Joe is just too important to me, and this line is incredible.

I think I will just continue to buy the vehicles as I have and either make space by getting rid of some less important stuff, or just selling the vehicles off someday if I don't have room as some of you suggested.

If nothing else nobody ever said you have to have a couch, chairs, end tables etc. in your living room.  Glass cases and GI Joe vehicles can go in their just as easily as furniture.

I did something similar to have more space. My ex-wife didn't like my collecting, always nagging me about it so the collecting was making me happy but she wasn't. Well, 5 years later and over $130,000.00 divorce settlement, I'm free and have more space. 😉

I just hope subspace access becomes a real thing before the USS Flagg or Defiant gets made for Classifieds. It would solve a lot of problems in the toy collecting community.
