The patches feel like a joke.  I understand something like that in a roleplay item like the Ghostbusters haslab, but it makes no sense here other than to save money.  Despite hating them, I plan on backing during the upcoming MA tax free weekend to save some cash. The vehicle itself looks great!

Cobra Rattler:

11,130 / 9,000 (+753) 123.67% of funding goal with 43d 17h left.

Well that went quicker than I thought it would. Glad we got those stinkin' badges crossed off the list. Now onwards and upwards to the Gunner.

It should be interesting to see how this goes after SDCC ends and we enter the doldrums of the funding period where things move really slowly.

It's kind of mind blowing to see GI Joe Haslabs fund immediately and stretch goals begin to be reached in a day or so.  Then on the other side of the fence you have Star Wars and Marvel Haslabs (two properties to which GI Joe is a massive underdog) go down to the wire with speculation as to whether or not the thing will even fund.

Yo Joe!

@yojoebro82 I guess it shows a couple things, at least in my opinion.

The Joe fan base is larger than anticipated (maybe) and under served for product.

The Classified line is more popular than we might think.

The vehicles have a larger appeal outside of just Joe fans.

Again just my opinion, but it is interesting how they have been doing compared to the other brands.

All I know is, since 1995 and up until Classified, Hasbro has had a very on-again-off-again approach to their GI Joe property.  They have been in and out of toy aisles sporadically with varying degrees of quality and availability and the excuses as to why always vary.  Then Classified comes around and with no help from any kind of movie or TV tie ins (which is a very important thing to note, I might add) is a huge success.  The general release stuff blows away other stuff in the toy aisles and the Haslabs fund within hours.

I just don't want Hasbro to forget the things you brought up just now should they ever decide to go "off again" with GI Joe.  The fans are there with their wallets open.  Hasbro just has to keep doing what they're doing.

The recently released Hasbro earnings reports show ‘partner brands’ aka marvel and Star Wars are down and continuing to lose money. GI Joe was called out as a brand growing in numbers.

when you see what $25 gets you for Star Wars, marvel, and GI Joe, the best value is clear. A side arm, backpack, and a rifle with most figures. Swords, alternate heads and hands are also common. Star Wars and marvel legends will sometimes come with a single blaster, light saber, overly reused effect piece, or just a BAF piece.

I would argue that the lack of a major movie or television media tie-in is a benefit to G.I. Joe at the moment.

I know as a cranky Star Wars OT fan I might be in the minority and thus my voice doesn't really matter much, but from where I've been sitting the last 5+ years the Star Wars team deserves to fail.  Their (almost) entire business strategy is just to release toys for whatever the latest show is to come out.  I do get that that has been Star Wars' modus operandi since day one but it completely ignores the fans of 40+ years like myself, and I'd argue people like me are the majority consumer for this line.  My 11-year-old nephew loves Star Wars.  He watches every new show. He has never once bought or even looked at a figure.  He couldn't care less.  Meanwhile I look at the pegs every time I'm in the store and watch every fan stream (well I used to, I gave up last year).  I keep a checklist of vintage figures that have Black Series counterparts: I think I've updated it twice in the last couple of years.

/unnecessary rant, sorry!

GI Joe, huh?  Yeah, big fan!

I'm actually considering skipping this one and it bums me out.  I love the Rattler but this one looks a bit stumpy to me and I keep finding that the only thing I'm really excited about is Wild Weasel.  I don't have Premium so after shipping and tax I'm guessing this will be pushing $400.  I know Wild Weasel will be pricey on the aftermarket but I guarantee there will be a fair few people army building these things and selling off the figures (maybe they'll keep the gunner).  If I can get him for anything less than $100 I'll feel pretty good, and I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation.

At least that's my thinking in this moment.  I'll likely feel different tomorrow!

Agree with you on the Star Wars thing.  I bought two figures so far this year from the Black Series.  I'm just not buying stuff anymore from a flash in the pan show that I won't care about in 6 months.  I loved the Mandalorian but I can't tell you the last time I even looked at that shelf of figures tucked away in its dusty corner.

Joe Haslabs have one over Marvel at least in that vehicles are a HUGE part of the brand.  Admittedly, Star Wars is almost as big, but they have the TVC/Black Series fractured fan base.  3 3/4" purists seem far less common in Joe world.

Well maybe not on the Rattler being longer, they are supposed to be the same length from what I researched. The Rattler is based on a YA-10B Thunderbolt II with modifications which is 53.4 feet long. The Dragonfly is based on the U.S. Marines' AH-1T Sea Cobra helicopter with modifications which is 53.4 feet long as well. I guess they should be the same length.

@spongyblue you'll never find it even now that you know it is there!

Well this was a strong start coming out of SDCC and it looks like we'll have smooth sailing the rest of the way, even if it is slow.

As an aside, I am surprised that the ML team has decided to stop Haslabs for the next year (maybe longer?). However it does seem like they have limited options for what could qualify as a Haslab while Joe still has a few more years of vehicles that could fit the Haslab mold.

Though the Joe team might want to take it as a sign that Haslabs may not be evergreen.

Speaking only for myself, I've enough space and interest left for one more Joe HasLab, but not even that, really.

Getting a Joe ground vehicle to offset the HISS would complete my Classified vehicle needs. I do, however, have a Ramen tank coming in 18 months, so Hasbro needs to really wow me next year.
