The biggest difference in the brands is value. Classified packs in the value, and part of the reason they can do that is because it's all theirs - no cut going to the license holder. Not to diminish the incredible work that actually goes into the product itself of course - the Joe team is just absolutely killing it.
The confirmation of no Marvel Haslab pretty much guarantees that I'll be in on this. I still haven't even opened my H.I.S.S. tank, and no idea where the Dragonfly will go. But without a $400 Fin Fang Foom to prepare for I'm gonna have a hard time missing out on this cool freakin' jet.
I’m just surprised that Marvel decided not to do a Haslab this year because it seems like there is one more obvious candidate before they start to really scratch their heads. Plus, I was really counting on it to finally be a way to get The Mandarin out.
@valo487 Well the TF team didn't do a Haslab last year and pushed it to the beginning of this year (Omega Prime). They say to match up with the 40th anniversary, but who knows. It didn't seem to hurt them too much.
However the ML team is kind of just putting off the inevitable with the pause. Most posters seem to think Fin Fang Foom is the next obvious choice (I agree). However with a stripped down Giant Man not doing too well compared to previous outings (Sentinel, Galactus....forget the EOV haha). It may be that ML doesn't have anything left in the tank that could get good numbers as a Haslab. Or is big enough to warrant a Haslab. Fin Fang Foom seems to be the last choice to fit that bill, but I think agree they might have gotten gun shy after Giant Man.
It also probably doesn't help that the SW:TVC Cantina didn't exactly break down the doors either. Because there has been suggestions of A Danger Room, or other playset as a possible ML Haslab. That probably also didn't help to make the case that playsets might work. Especially at 6" scale.
That leaves vehicles and well........we all know how the first one went.
So yeah going smaller and doing a timed preorder might be best for now. Especially for characters like Dragon Man, Apocalypse, a different Sentinel, etc. And maybe it is just time to end the Haslab model for ML.
A I loved the Mandalorian but I can't tell you the last time I even looked at that shelf of figures tucked away in its dusty corner.
Do you have a camera in my house?
Thats strictly need-to-know information. I’m afraid you’re not cleared for that level of information.
Coooobr.., er, Yo Joe….
I mean, seriously, word for word. This box hasn't moved in 6 months.

Let's give a shout out to Marla Gibbs (if you see it, you know).
Looks like we are still "movin' on up" (sorry couldn't help myself) to 14,000. Triple digit gains again coming out of SDCC. So moving along nicely to the next tier.
@canprime besides Foom, the only thing I can think of that ML could do for a Haslab would be a ‘too hot’ for retail wave of figures. That can include the demonic characters and scantily clad ones. You know, the kind that they tried to include with EoV but then released two of them later 😆
people have been asking for figure Haslabs and maybe it’s worth giving it a shot. From the too risqué to the too niche, it may be a good place for fan wanted characters that would tank at retail.
Is the rumored next Haslab supposed be a tank next year? We’re there any hints as to which one? Mobat, Slugger, or Mauler?
@canprime "As an aside, I am surprised that the ML team has decided to stop Haslabs for the next year (maybe longer?). " Based on what they are putting into the FF campaign so far at SDCC, I'll guess that Dwight and team are already working on the new Fantasticar for next years HASLAB. I got to talk to him a bit at SDCC (unbelievably nice guy) as he was putting the Dragon Man into the display. He seemed genuinely thrilled about the Super Deluxe offering size and what this size figure could bring to the future. Kinda seems like Giant figures could go this route so they can focus on vehicles and other large items in HASLABS... the G.I. Joe model continues to work extraordinarily well for that team. We'll see what the price tag is on it.
@buttmunch As Niteowl86 pointed out they could possibly gear up for a Fantasticar for a Haslab. Although if that flying car they showed off is what it will be that could be a problem.
As for teams, or box sets as Haslabs, I am all for it, but I think they have made a decision with Dragon Man to stay away from that for Haslabs. When Ryan mentioned that Dragon Man was being considered for a Haslab with some other figures to flesh it out, but they went the preorder route, that said to me they don't have any confidence in teams/box sets as Haslabs.
@leor People are guessing the Mauler based on the Fearsome Fangs patch which is attacking a tank that looks a little like the Mauler.
However there is no evidence of what the next Haslab will be, let alone it being a tank.
@niteowl86 I wonder if the FF movie will play a part in the Haslab. That flying car they showed off doesn't scream Haslab to me, but of course there could be a more "traditional" Fantasticar in the movie so who knows.
Sorry for the multiple posts, I can't seem to get the multiquote to work for some reason.

Well we are past 12,000 now and still moving well. Would be nice to get close to 14,000 before the daily numbers drop below triple digits. Either way still doing great.
@canprime the timing of the movie could tie into the HASLAB. I COMPLETELY agree with you on the classic vs. the MCU one they showed at SDCC. I'm all in for a classic Fantasticar, but was openly scratching my head at what came into the hall. I like the potential theme of this movie though. There were novelty fans at the show that gave a graphic representation of Manhattan during the movie era that was Awesome! There is an area called Subterrenia under the city. I'm really thinking they will go full FF #1 with Mole Man, give the fans a real origin story with classic costumes, then use the Multiverse and Reeds big brain to bring them 'up' to a more futuristic version of themselves (or he gets introduced to the Council of Reeds). Hoping that the Fantasticar they showed at SDCC is the future version and the rounded-rectangle car with separating parts will be the HASLAB offer. AND hopefully... No Doom in this movie! He didn't even show up until FF #5 anyway.

Nice to still see triple digit daily gains, hopefully it can keep that up until the end of the weekend.
