But it would be cool to do soooooooorta a Rosencrantz & Guildenstern thing ...

Do you think death could be a boat?

"Are you deaf?"

"...am I dead?"

Was on the road last week so waited to watch Ep 6 just before Ep 7 tonight - both episodes were fun.

I really hope whatever Baylan is up to gets shown in this season, given his story can't continue into another series.

Thrawn has been well presented as the calculating tactician he is meant to be. I like it so far, and the idea he has had to deal with limited resources is interesting. I guess my question is who has he had to fight that has caused the damage and limited resources?

I am not a big fan of the Dathomir witches concept, but admit I am intrigued as to what connection they have to the Jedi/the Force in this galaxy - were they originally from here or did the Jedi try to exile some of them to here - but why are they beholden to and helping Thrawn exactly? I am probably forgetting some Clone Wars lore at this point. I read a few articles and I think it is all convoluted at this point, but why these Witches care about Jedi is odd to me...

I was pleased by the one cameo in Ep 7...

I thought it was a great episode. Aside from his eyes, which are quite distracting (even if they are true to Rebels), I think Ezra is quite faithful to the original characterization. I think Eman did a terrific job bringing him to life while also instilling a bit more maturity from his time away. Some of the vocal inflections are just like Taylor Grey's from Rebels.

I also quite liked how he chose not to go for the lightsaber. It shows how much he's grown and how more tuned into the Force he is. Didn't really like him using the blaster later on, but it's a small nit.

Loved the stuff with Baylon and Shin too, but man is it bittersweet. Unless something changes in the finale, it seems pretty clear that there were/are bigger plans for the characters, and now with Ray gone, it'll never see its original intended conclusion. I was worried they were going to kill Shin this episode, but glad to see she made it. I was thinking that getting thrown under the bus by Baylon and then abandoned by the troopers would disillusion her to their cause a little, but maybe not. Assuming they both survive the finale, I wonder if Dave is going to rework their future storylines to have Shin take on the mission that Baylon is on, or if they'll just recast the role.

That cameo was great as well, and reinforces more and more that they'll almost have to bring in more legacy characters as Thrawn returns and causes havoc. I can't imagine Luke not getting involved at all, and it would be great to see more Leia, especially if it means we get to see her use her saber. Assuming she'd even want to, it would be the perfect excuse to bring Billie Lourd back as Leia to continue the character.

Really excited for the finale next week. I'd bet good money it's going to end on a cliffhanger- probably Thrawn getting back to the OG galaxy and wrecking a Rebel fleet (my money is on the one we saw earlier in the season giving Teva a hard time). Whatever happens, I'll be eagerly awaiting it (and whatever future figures we get).

I can't imagine them making this show thinking it's a one-and-done season, so some sort of cliffhanger is a guarantee, imho; probably exactly what you say.

The REAL question is how does Sabine die and whether she sacrifices herself for Ahsoka or Ezra.

Well I finally caught up. It’s still fun but not as deep and mysterious as I was hoping.

Why would the whales go to this planet to die? Why is it a whale graveyard?

Obviously the Mothers were communicating to Morgan in dreams or some Force magic to lead her to the navigation sphere, secrets of the Dathomir ancestors navigating the galaxy’s. What is this cargo Thrawn is focused on getting loaded? Surely some Force magic advantage he will use to get the better of the new Republic.

If they bring ole Thrawn over there’s no way future stories can’t involve the heroes of the Rebellion: Luke and Leia for sure. I think Han and Chewie have to be mentioned. This is their wheelhouse. They are not going to be absent during a threat like Thrawn will create.

I did really like seeing Ezra in action. He seemed very Ezra like especially the “let’s talk this out” moment. He has the right mannerisms. It’s Ezra. It’s good to see him. I was hoping for more. I mean his communing with animals of the galaxy has always been a defining trait of his character. I was kind of hoping he touched the minds of those beasts they were riding and saw them buck their riders or something like that. Hopefully this series isn’t a short reunion with Ezra. More please.

Hera’s new uniform look in this episode took her out of doing cos-play in my mind now. She’s becoming more like Hera. Sabine without the helmet in combat is a bit of a bummer. She used her flamethrower kind of at least.

I hope Babylon’s plans aren’t just a rushed blurb. I mean what power is he speaking of?

Thwipp!

There was a scene that showed Zeffo Hieroglyphics that matched the ones showed in the Jedi Fallen Order.  In that game, the Zeffo were revealed to be an ancient powerful force user race.

Some folks say that the location Ahsoka found the map in the first episode was one of the places the Zeffonian race lived, and that they originated on Dathomir.   It seems like the Zeffo could have something to do with what Baylon is seeking.

Well, last one tomorrow. I know nothing beyond what the released episodes, but I'm wondering if a second season will be announced tomorrow evening or even Wednesday. I'm definitely praying for a soft cliffhanger but prepared for a full-on, 'holy crap how are they gonna get out of this one? What? Find out in 2025?!?' deal. If they resolve no other plot, please let them conclude Baylan's at least.

@ru1977 I'm hoping for the same.  Super excited to watch the finale, I'm prepared to have some jaw dropping moments just like the finales from the 3 Mandalorian seasons.

I admit I still haven't finished Mandalorian season 3, but yeah I would compare this to the season 2 finale. And that was without even knowing about the big cameo. But at that point, I was on such a Boba-high that I was down with whatever they showed me. To paraphrase Kenneth Turan, if the AFI ever offers a course advising producers of successful series what to avoid deeper into the show, Book of Boba Fett and Mandalorian season 3 could be at the heart of the curriculum.

Ahsoka is, for me, a massive comeback.

So... I'm gonna preface this by pointing out that I have been almost 100% positive on this show for the whole first 7 episodes. Like.. I loved the show and was singing its praises.

Episode 8 fucking sucks. It sucks so hard. To the point where I repeatedly paused it to question whether or not anyone involved in the previous 7 episodes had anything to do with this absolute trash. There was basically nothing redeemable here. Even the stuff that could have been good was so forced and rushed that it just wasn't good.

It's like the writers/directors/whatever forgot there was only going to be 8 episodes, filmed 7 of them, and then spent an entire episode going 'OH SHIT!'

Dawson's lightsaber/fight choreography was the worst it's been in the show, and in fact represents some of the worst fight choreography in the entirety of Star Wars. Way too much stuff was just 'and then this has to happen' rather than anything happening organically. I did not, for one moment, buy into Sabine suddenly being able to use The Force because we did not build to it at all.
And even before she really shows any ability to even do ANYTHING with the Force, she's deflecting laser blasts with her lightsaber - which should require actual attunement to the Force that she -demonstrably- does not have. Ezra barely uses The Force - his own attunement to which being the reason he told Sabine he didn't even need a lightsaber - during the fight with zombie Death Trooper and instead decides to like.. fist fight an undead soldier in full body armor.
Magic flaming sword.
Sabine's helmet is back. Probably dropped out of fucking Narnia with the magic flaming sword.
Thrawn is a terribly tactician. Just terrible. He makes constant bad decisions. It's like making a show about a person that's an absolute chess master and then showing them losing at checkers for three straight episodes.
Shin and Baylan were only in this episode the requisite number of seconds so the showrunners could pretend they didn't forget to write something for them to do. Even more tragic considering we lost Ray and his story now probably goes absolutely nowhere.

They overplayed their hand with the 'ticking clock' trope because there was no apparent rhyme or reason to why Thrawn's nonsense was taking as long as it was, or why it wasn't 'ready' when everyone said 'ready.' Or why they didn't get the ship ready to move -WHILE- they were getting it loaded. Like.. just what the fuck.

None of this episode made any sense. None of it was choreographed well. None of it was convincing. It might have been the worst Star Wars thing I've seen since Rise of Skywalker.

this absolute trash.

Yep. I said this out loud multiple times during the finale.

Come on, that title def goes to at least half of Book of Boba Fett. TROS at least provided explanations, backtracking as they were, for what they put on screen.* This was 44 minutes of insulting storytelling decisions and a waste of... everything.

*EDIT: I forgot The Emperor revived himself SOMEHOW on Fortnite and not in the movie proper. That's worse than Baylan's ending that provides zero context *in the show I'm watching* for what is happening.

We all know Ezra's been turned and is now a double agent, right?

That is a very interesting idea - which means it's not what's happening.

There's no way a double agent who has infiltrated the New Republic could make them LESS competent.

Man..."New Republic". I can't believe the heroes of the original trilogy fought for this. Completely incompetent idiots who make some of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen. I understand that because of the stupid sequels you now feel the need to explain why the New Republic fell apart so quickly, but you're only making things worse. Better to show the New Republic as the most competent force, solving problems and just ignore things in the future. But nah. New Thrawn isn't much better. Another incompetent idiot who makes the most strange decisions. "I'm so smart and I let my opponents get away so that they...they uh well yeah, I'm smart!" Fucking Dr. Evil had better plans.

I love how Leia called last episode and almost cleared Hera. It's okay, you're free. Even after several pilots died because of your actions... And the fact that you took a child with you on a dangerous mission who could have died. Clown Republic.
