Ah, I get it now. I guess I see it as sorta stunt-casting. Like when Michael Keaton was going to play Jack in Lost but die in the second episode.
I mean is she a huge name? I don't see her as someone who can just slough off high profile high paying jobs. She's mega talented but that isnt the same thing.
I don't even know. Plenty of nerds were excited for her at least, so she seemed to be a draw. And now she's been in Star Wars once, with makeup, so it wouldn't be crazy for her to play another alien or totally human in something else. Voice a droid, whatever. And now she has even more convention circuit to fall back on if need be.
The solution to the Jecki issue is you keep the space cops padawan from episode 1 around in episodes 2-4. A side story in those episodes is her and Jecki, young padawans, on their first real mission. Then Darth Arms smokes the space cop and his padawan. He injures Jecki and would have killed her except for Sol. Then do what others say. Have Sol kill Mae and leave Jecki to contend with what the Jedi say they are vs what they actually are. At the same time she still has to contend with all these Sith. Give the audience some reason to WANT to see a season 2 plus a conduit to explore the themes the show is engaging. Not even to mention that Dafne Keen is a magnetic performer in a way most these other people are … not.
Man, I wish they had you in the writer's room. This sounds way more like the show I wanted to see.
At this point with the Acolyte canceled I'm pulling for a prequel show that gives me the pre-coven-executing adventures of Indara and Kelnacca. I'm resigned that I can't have Jecki in the mix too... Oh well.
But Indara seemed to have her head on straight and the idea of a wookie jedi is fertile ground to explore beyond just being the trojan horse for a mind witch to control and beat up his comrades. Let me spend some time with that duo adventuring in the galaxy, maybe with a padawan along for the ride (not Torbin, though) - but more police prodcedural than grand story telling. It would work.
Since Kelly could be up there in age by the time they encountered the coven, you could even have the adventures of Kelnacca and a teenaged Indara.

I'll allow it.
I wouldn't say Keene is a household name, but she's a skilled martial artist and an acting powerhouse. You find that combination in a teenager, you keep her.
I mean, Jecki's death was the best part of the series, but I'm open to a "you look so much like your grandmother" scene in Ahsoka season 2.
Meaning Jecki was getting some strange in between her dueling practice sessions? Would make sense for Sol's apprentice to break some rules.
Brilliant!
WHY WON'T YOU HIRE THIS MAN, DISNEY?!?!?!!?
My family just came to check on me because of the literal howl of laughter I let out. Well played sir.
An amazing talent even beyond his INCREDIBLE voice, so glad we got what we did from James Earl Jones.
I first knew of him from Darth Vader, but he was also featured in two favorites - his soliloquy about baseball in Field of Dreams, and Mufasa the honorable leader and father. in The Lion King I know those were roles, but you believe with that voice there was truth in those characters and moments.
