Regarding all the timing and supposed retcons of the scene, it's best to not think too hard about it. As always, my authority on the topic is found at Wookieepedia: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Search_for_Ezra#Behind_the_scenes
Quote:
The 2018 reference book Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy initially placed the scene from Rebels around 5 ABY.[20] The "Part Two: Toil and Trouble", the second episode of Ahsoka,[7] later depicted the same scene[27] with some minor differences and continued the storyline, moving the scene to around 9 ABY instead.[7] The 2023 reference book Star Wars: Timelines still provides a "circa 5 ABY" start date for the search, but does not explicitly say this date refers to the moment from Rebels.[4] Therefore, this article assumes the following: Tano and Wren began their search around 5 ABY, only to go their separate ways, as described in Ahsoka. In circa 9 ABY, they resumed their search. This article assumes the Ahsoka depiction of the Rebels epilogue as canonical due to being the most recent depiction.
Just relax and enjoy the show!
The "space walk" scene was the closest any of the live action series have come to matching the pure Clone Wars/Rebels type energy. It was a move straight out of Anakin's playbook. The bit with Ahsoka flipping around and casually asking Sabine, "Did you fix the ship yet?" was pure Clone Wars fun. Lucas wept.
Same, my reaction to the space walk was that it was a move straight out of the Clone Wars.
I'm loving Ahsoka and I've enjoyed every episode, but I can tell that this show is not going to have a satisfying conclusion.
@slixta satisfying in what way?
I started out a little iffy on the first episode but have gotten more into it with each one. Not sure if they've been improving or if I'm simply getting more used to the style of the show.
SPOILER STUFF:
Watching this episode got me thinking how it is kind of amazing that 45 years later, things like lightsaber fights and costumes and X-Wings manage to still seem unique yet familiar and modern yet old, and how it still works visually so well. The production design on the classic Star Wars films has to be some of the best and most endearing of all time. Compare it to Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica, where as the years go by, new filmed versions need to advance and upgrade the tech to not seem outdated.
Baylon - he's been cryptic enough in his statements that I am not sure he is truly bad...?
@ru1977 like it's going to end on an incredibly stupid cliffhanger where this season answers nothing.
I hate when second seasons are treated like chapters instead of sequels. It's ok to set up breadcrumbs for a continuation, but everything should have a satisfying conclusion.
That's really been a problem with all of Star Wars as of late and I'd say most of Phase 4 and 5 with the exception of Black Widow, WandaVision, Shang-Chi, and No Way Home.
@slixta Thank you for specifying, I definitely get what you're saying. And yeah, it's better to have a conclusion even if there's another season that continues the story.
To complain about endings though... Mandalorian Season 2 felt like something of an ending with emotional stakes etc, even though they undid it by the time season 3 came about.
But yeah, not everything needs to be Empire Strikes Back. A New Hope had a victory even though Vader was still out there, and we can have more of that sometimes.

SPOILER STUFF:
SpoilerAhsoka SpoilerI'd be shocked if they weren't purposely emulating the stances from that first duel in Seven Samurai, but I'm more than fine with it. It's nice to see someone 'ripping off' that movie in a not typical way. Really worked for me. I like Baylon more each episode as well. And I'll have to look again but what saber hilt did the guy at the end have on his belt? Looked to not be the one I expected.
@reefer-shark That was the one I was getting at too.
When I watched it, the hilt looked mostly black so I just assumed Vader's, but looking at this more now that some stills have come out from the scene, I'm not so sure. I think it's just the lighting that made it look so dark, but the center part is definitely not black (like Vader's), and looking closer the emitter end looks not black either. Vader's was, basically, the graflex hilt (Anakin's ROTS/Luke's ANH & ESB) with a black shroud on the emitter and black in the center.
TLDR, I don't think it's Vader's hilt anymore.
Got my pass to see Ahsoka episode 5 in theaters next week. Stoked!

Anakin's hilts:
AOTC:
Vader's hilts(ROTJ, ESB, ANH):
Vader's hilt is very similar to Anakin's AOTC hilt with the emitter painted black. Anakin's ROTS hilt, obviously, goes onto to Luke in ANH and ESB, while Anakin becomes Vader.
It's certainly not clear which Anakin has at the end of Ahsoka, but I could see the argument that it is actually Anakin's ROTS hilt with just the raised center ring looking chrome due to lighting, while the rest of the hilt looks dark.
I'm enjoying Ahsoka a lot so far. I actually do think they need to largely put a little bit of a speed filter on Ahsoka herself, though, whenever she's fighting. The choreography gets a bit obvious because it feels like she's moving soooo slowly.
The one thing I was not expecting here was how much the Marrok "reveal" just... did not land for me. Like slowly letting the air out of a balloon. Just PFFFFFLLLLLLLLBBBBBBBBBTH. I'm sure it's partly because fans really built this up like it would be revealed that this dude matters but.. here we are. And also, I don't think they've bothered to do any legwork to explain what the hell that even was so for a lot of fans not AS deep in the lore (such as my wife and my son) the entire moment was just a shoulder-shrug and a 'I don't even know or care what that just was.'
Fell very flat, is what I'm saying.
Ray is fucking owning this show, though. He's amazing. I'm -already- so sad we won't get more of this character.
