The main problem I had was that Obi-Wan probably should not have let Reva live once she (more or less) figured out who Luke and Leia were. Too risky.
Much like Rogue One, I feel this was a good instance of filling in some backstory that made the stakes higher going into the OT after the PT. It's pretty hard to do that story-wise - make a fill-in story compelling, yet not override the stakes of the before and after known stories.
I kind of wish they hadn't had Leia in Rebels being a knowing part of the resistence with the support of her parents. I think a "rebellious" 15-year old Leia story where she idealistically wants to speak out about the Empire while her parents are worried about the attention that might happen if she does - and she doesn't realize that her adoptive Dad was on the right side of justice but backed off to protect her - that could be an interesting story to tell. Much how Owen and Beru were trying to keep Luke off the radar and squash his instincts to be involved.
(Note, it is still kind of a shame that it wasn't more overtly called out in the first Star Wars that both Luke and Leia had their adoptive families killed by the Empire in the span of a few days... Luke gets over Owen and Beru pretty fast, Leia is making quips about Stormtrooper height a few hours after seeing her planet destroyed and being tortured, but Luke only seems truly upset after Ben is killed despite that he barely know him. I wonder if anyone who watches the story fresh from the PT to OT thinks that ANH is kind of frivolous in that way, after the drama of RotS, as it pretty much dispatches the remaining PT good guy supporting cast as plot points.)
I don't understand why the writers played Reva being a former Padawan as if that was supposed to be some great "WWHHHAAAAATTTTTTT??!?!?!" reveal. Rather than go that route, they should have really leaned into Reva's journey from being a Padawan to an Inquisitor. If we had seen all of the manipulation and torture needed to turn a Jedi Padawan, that would have been a really powerful way to show how evil and corrupted both the Emperor and Vader were. That would have gotten the audience to actually care about Reva as a somewhat sympathetic villain AND given a greater sense as to her motivations towards Vader.
Basically, Reva was poorly handled. Maybe they had ideas on where she should go but really needed to put more time into developing her story/journey. And I think you're right, maybe introducing her as a cold and calculating villain then showing what she'd gone through to get there, and wrapping it up with Obi-Wan actually aiming her at Vader but it resulting in her end... probably could have been a very interesting and tragic character study. Even if the audience safely assumes she isn't gonna make it out of the show alive, that clearly doesn't matter if the story and character are compelling enough like with Rogue One.
@fac Luke was massively sprung on Leia and I got the sense he lamented Ben, at least with the second instance in the hangar, just to get some Leia-ttention.
@ru1977 Maybe that was his ploy, but that wasn't how 10-year-old me viewed it in 1977! He was sad his friend died. Of course, 10-year-old me also thought Alderaan being blown up was cool, and didn't care Owen and Beru were BBQed as Owen was mean to Luke, and I was surprised when Han came back at the end. So, my level of emotional sophistication and story-telling savvy at the time might have been limited, or rightly taking a back seat to the aliens and lasers...
Luke it should be noted also lost his best friend in the Death Star battle. He had a rough couple of days really.
@fac for real!
And yeah as a kid I didn't see it that way either, but later on I picked up on Luke's little cues. I always think about an interview with Hamill where he said "if Leia goes for Han, she's a chump". Heh heh.
But yah, the empire really did a number both of them.
I haven’t revisited Kenobi show like I have others. It was ok. Some interesting ideas. I did like Lil Leah. Agree Reva should have died in the duel with Vader. End with Luke awkward. I honestly didn’t care that the kidnappers from the beginning of the show were made to look foolish. Their azzholes kidnapping a child. They don’t deserve a bad azz moment. Ben Kenobi or Ole’ Ben is known as a crazy old wizard in Star Wars proper. If they some more stories with Ewen I hope they do something to show him as the crazy old wizard. I also hope it’s on another part of the planet. I guess Jabba could be involved. I like the Tuskens too. Eh. If they have a good story, go for it.
Bad Batch season three started off well. I enjoyed the three first episodes. The first episode had a similar feel to that Crosshair episode on the frost planet or the one with Cody in season two. Lots happened in quiet moments. Good stuff.
Thwipp!
I don't think anyone wanted the kidnappers to have a 'bad azz moment', but maybe not have them be inept versions of the Wet Bandits from Home Alone either. I'd say cutting from when she first sees Flea to the next scene would have been fine.
Andor and Obi-Wan will be getting Bluray/4K releases April 30. I will get Obi-Wan, I might get Andor.
Thank you for posting that. REALLY tempting but I haven't been collecting physical media for a while now. Though I am really excited to finally get The Abyss on something beyond dvd next week.
Acolyte trailer
The Star Wars Databank has updated with characters from the Acolyte.

I mean, of course I'll watch it. Probably. (maybe)
It's my own baggage here, but after a lifetime of Star Wars and spin offs and fan films, I think I've seen everything they have to say about Jedi. That's really why I was (briefly) so excited about Kylo Ren's idea to just burn it all down and move on from Jedi and Sith.
That's also why the Mandalorian was such a fun breath of fresh Star Wars for me and why, ironically, the only Star Wars I was looking forward to was Rogue Squadron.
The trailer doesn't give this sense, but I think the show is more about the dark side than the Jedi. I suspect there's some misdirect here, and I would be willing to bet:
That fight with Carrie-Anne Moss ends with her losing, and she's the 'big name' of the show with the shocking, early death.
