This is true. I don't think an R rating will magically make it a good movie, but I think it shows that they're willing to step outside of the little box they created with the MCU and that they're willing to course correct when needed. Initial reports were not sounded good for that movie.
True, on stepping outside. And I definitely feel that needs to happen a lot more. I still want superhero movies, and I won't say they should never follow the traditional formula every again, but spicing it up can lead to good things.
Really looking forward to see The Marvels on Friday! I got tickets for the whole family. We warmed up by watching Captain Marvel again yesterday—my daughters were cheering! Captain Marvel is still one of my favorite MCU films and a great one to rewatch. (But I still wish she got to have an epic battle with Ronan the Accuser like she did in Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes).
Captain Marvel is still one I really enjoy watching too. It was the first one my entire family went to see in the theater together, since my daughters weren't going with us to see marvel stuff until that one. And this is still my favorite moment in the movie:
But yeah, a fight with Ronan would have been REALLY cool.
Not sure when I'll see Marvels, probably Saturday morning. It looks like soooooo much fun and the runtime leads me to believe there's no fat and it moves at a brisk pace.
I also admit that when a friend texted me a half hour ago asking if I wanted to see the credit scene, I immediately said yes heh. I am soooo weak with that stuff.
Had the post-credits scene spoiled for me this morning. It's whatever. I'm sort of indifferent about this movie anyway. Not sure if I'll see it this weekend.
@popoman was the one you saw
The Monica one? I found it to be pretty heartbreaking but I'm so ready for this movie.
@popoman Thank you.
I'm hoping the other one pops up too, though now there's a rumor that there's only one credit scene and the other scene that had been leaked is incorporated into the movie. Not sure which is which. but either way, I'll be watching it this weekend.
It's cool to have mutants trickling in I guess but... come on. We rebooted Spider-Man immediately after ASM2, it's okay to do it with mutants as well. And I feel like an X-Men movie every two or three years would buy back some good will from the audience and people wouldn't be so sour about getting things like Eternals when they know they're gonna get their snikt-fix shortly.
Spoileryesit was Monica waking up and a certain blue x-man was there. I just went ahead and watched the whole scene. He was definitely comic accurate as far as looks good, which I appreciated, but the CGI didn't feel like it was that great.
I'm going to ask you to spoil me further because I have no plans to see this movie any time soon.

SpoilerWhich "blue X-Man"? There are so many? Beast? Nightcrawler? Mystique? Maggot? (Haha, yeah, probably not). Were they played by their Fox actors or not?
Before she sees Beast though, she comes face to face with Maria Rambeau and gets extremely emotional at seeing her mother alive again.
This was really great. I loved the journey and pretty much all of the character dynamics. One of the few MCU movies in a long time where I'm actively wanting to rewatch it again because it was just a thoroughly enjoyable time.
The Khan's were just as charming as they were in Ms Marvel and ofcourse Iman Vellani oozes charisma, and overall helps all the serious brow beaten heroes lighten the fuck up, which is sorely needed.
I don't know if Monica necessarily got more development in this movie than she could have had, but it's only her second appearance and they started off pretty strong with her in WandaVision. Her "Higher, Further, Faster" moment was one of my favourite scenes in an already jam packed spectacle. One thing that does irk me is that when a hero in this franchise does the "powered up" eyes we still see some form of iris. When Monica absorbed the energy and went full spectrum there was a moment her eyes were blinding stark white and I think that can look infinitely cooler than the iris flairs they always include, and inevitably did include after afew seconds. I get that there's some places it may be necessary so we can properly read the emotions of the character or we can see where they're looking, but it doesn't need to be the standard.
The Memory scene was so fun and the flerkins annoyed me alot less than in Captain Marvel, and I already know there'll be groaning at the literal 2 minutes of musical singing on what I'll call the Princess Planet, but it was a welcome change to the droll exposition we usually get.
LOVED Binary's costume and I'm thrilled there seems to be a future for Lashana Lynch in this franchise. Apart from the voice which I guess did sound like Kelsey Grammar, the circular X shaped doors and the FoX-Men theme playing, I really didn't get the vibe this was the Fox universe itself, as is being reported online. Beast is fully CGI and doesn't bear much resemblance to Grammar, and is significantly younger looking than Beast even looked in The Last Stand. But he did mention Charles so it is giving us an established team. I'm just wondering if this just another red-herring X-Men multiverse cameo or the first introduction to the prime team we'll be seeing from here on out. I'm hoping it's the latter.

Spoilerspoilers ahead! It was Beast in a lab coat. Apparently played by Kelsey Grammer again, but this was fully CGI and closer to the comics. The context is that Monica woke up in an alternate dimension and they had her in, I guess, the X-mansion? It was like a hospital room. He mentions Charles. Ultimately, seems like the X-Men will wind up in the main universe when they are inevitably squished together in Secret Wars.
Well my hope is that when they
As long as we are asking spoiler questions....
As for the other scene, was this supposed to be the universe we saw the Illuminati in from MoM? Charles ought to be dead there...so probably not?
I am now wondering if the FF will come from another universe, maybe Reed tries something to travel between universes - possibly fleeing from or after Kang - and that's when they are exposed to whatever cause their powers...

SpoilerQuestionOne recent rumor was that a post-credit scenes was Kamala contacts Kate after stealing a list of superheroes from Fury, or something like that. As I desperately want the young female Avengers to happen was curious if this scene was in there...As for the other scene, was this supposed to be the universe we saw the Illuminati in from MoM? That was the other one I was wondering about. Supposedly both are in the movie, but one is now part of the ending and the other is a credit scene, but dunno if that's even true.
And I was wondering that too, universe 838. If so, does that place The Marvels before MOM? Maria's survival could be explained by her powers etc, but Charles was definitely dead like you said.
