@sdcomics Thank you for doing all that! Looks good to me, and all up to date (as far as I can tell) with the untitled release dates. I think we went through this with No Way Home as well, but could one of those be Spider-Man? I was wondering if the cancelled 7/24/26 was Spider-Man, then moved to the recently announced 7/23/27 date. Or maybe all these untitled dates are just placeholders for Blade.

Yep, I'm very confident that Spider-Man 4 is going to happen and it probably would have been officially announced at SDCC or D23 but it's up to Sony, not Marvel Studios, to do that and they're dragging their heels.  Hopefully we'll get official word soon.

I'm also pretty confident that Shang-Chi 2, Black Panther 3 and Doctor Strange 3 will happen.  Thor 5 I'm less confident about but you never know.

Blade is a big question mark.  For now I'm leaving it up there but it grows more doubtful by the day that it'll make that November 2025 release date.  It's no secret that it's been a struggle for Marvel to crack the story.  But I hope they do.  I'd love to see the daywalker join the MCU.

You know, it just kills me that the incels on youtube are still ranting and raving about the Multiverse Sage being a huge, colossal fail and that Feige and company need to be fired.  Well, let's see.  Spider-Man: No Way Home: $1,921,847,111.00, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: $955,775,804.00, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever: $858,056,872.00, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3: .00, Thor: Love and Thunder: $760,928,081.00.

It's a pretty simple formula: Make good movies with characters that fans like and people will go see them.  I know that's a hard concept for your average incel to grasp but there it is.

Ladies and gentlemen and other non-incels, I give to you facts that cannot be denied: Marvel Studios has produced a grand total of 34 movies since Iron Man back in 2008.  And every single one has opened at number one worldwide.  EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.  No other movie studio in the history of motion pictures can say that. Ten of their films have grossed over $1 billion globally (with Deadpool & Wolverine set to join them as number 11, possibly as early as today), while two films have grossed over $2 billion.  What do you suppose Lionsgate would do for numbers like that?  Or Warners?  Or Universal?  Or any other studio out there?

But yes, yes, Disney, by all means you should listen to the pale skinned incels who live in their parents basement and haven't had a breath of fresh air or seen sunlight since they were toddlers.  Feige is a hack who doesn't know what he's doing and needs to be replaced.  So what if his movies have made 30 billion at the box office?  What does that prove?

I don't know.  I guess that's what I'd think if I were an incel that lived down in the cellar and was so threatened by women and minorities that I'd feel the need to create a youtube channel to rant and rave about how white guys are "being replaced".  I'd suggest to these idiots that they should get out and get some fresh air, maybe take a shower and put on some clean clothes, and just for the novelty of it try talking to a woman.  I WOULD suggest that, but the sun would probably burn their pasty white skin.

Sorry.  I had to get all that off my chest.

Anyway, for Marvel the future is looking pretty good.  I'm very much looking forward to Captain America Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, Avengers and Spider-Man 4. Daredevil, Ironheart and Agatha look like a lot of fun. And then there's Phase 7 and the beginning of the Mutant Saga.  Fun times ahead.

It does seem kind of unprecedented.  An idea I just had is to wonder how they'll handle audiences aging into the line. Like, a 13-year-old might just now be interested in Marvel movies, how daunting must 16 years of continuous story be?

Star Wars is probably getting there too. So much of the current story is drawn from a six-season cartoon that ended six years ago (and that's assuming you don't need to watch any Clone Wars).

I believe Feige even commented on it, and making sure they get the story right etc.

After Cretton left... Kang Dynasty, I believe? I was certain Shang Chi 2 was coming sooner than later. Strange 3.... I'd be okay not getting, but if they turn out something really great, I'll give it a try. I know I'm in the minority, but I really wasn't hot on MOM at all.

Then again, I always said Quantumania was the only Marvel movie, so far, I wouldn't watch again and my brother-in-law had it on during a backyard cookout yesterday and... I watched the whole damned movie. And it wasn't as bad as I remembered it, but still feel it's my least favorite Marvel movie.

If it's a lower budget, not-so-effects-heavy movie, I could see it getting finished in a year. But yeah, I agree, I doubt it'll make that date.

Man, I didn't realize they were calling for Feige to be fired. Yikes. I haven't been a huge fan of some of the post-Endgame stuff (some I REALLY loved), but I see nothing worth losing Feige over. I LOVE Scorsese, but do I love every single one of his films? Nope. I don't expect to though.

There's just so much that went into the misfires, but I'm still ready for more hits.

That's... I didn't realize that, but I believe it. That's truly incredible.

Yep. It crossed. I also finally saw today, so clearly I'm that final nudge.

Looking REALLY good, yeah. BNW looks really solid, I'm really down for Thunderbolts. Could be a mess, but there's so many parts involved that I'm excited for that I probably won't care if it is. FF, I'm really ready for a movie about those characters to knock my socks off. Avengers, I'm absolutely ready for both. Spider-Man and Daredevil will always get my attention, and Ironheart looks pretty interesting from the trailer. Agatha does look fun, and I'm really fine with Marvel releasing varying tones. I liked She-Hulk!

And the mutants... I am soooooo ready for that. Deadpool and Wolverine was a fantastic taste, and a great sendoff for things I didn't realize I was ready for. But it really got me excited for more mutant stuff.

And that's one thing... I wasn't the world's biggest PT fan, but I certainly appreciated even at the time how it was for a new audience. it connects, and it can satisfy fans of the previous stuff if they're open to it, while always being a nice jumping on point for new and younger fans. I don't think the ST did that nearly as well though.

My brother in law and his girlfriend have been wading into the MCU and... I swear I explained this to them many times, but they are watching things in the completely wrong order and claim they're enjoying it. They watched Quantumania last night, despite not seeing the earlier Ant-Men or Civil War. A couple weeks ago they watched Endgame for the first time, and decided to follow it up with Infinity War. THEN they watched Age of Ultron. I couldn't stand it!

So, I dunno. Maybe none of it matters as much as I thought, heh.

My world view is shattered.

But I see the same thing in my kids and their action figures. While I have shelves dedicated to accurately specific groups and characters, Junior is just "Green Ranger vs. Tracer!"

Maybe minor OCD isn't a common human trait after all.

Haw, right? I'm sitting there dumbfounded, demanding "how can you not care" louder and louder. Just shrugs then attention back to the movie they lack the backstory for.

Damn Fwoosh reset! How the hell did you post that massive post SD Comics without the freaking Fwoosh page resetting wiping it all out?

Fire Feige. That’s just silly.

My only criticism is slow down a bit. No need to churn out so much.

Thwipp!

I'm fine with how much they're churning out, but I'd appreciate more pre-production. We've talked before about how some of these projects, the scripts specifically, were half baked. And there are reasons for that, like trying to push a production before Covid shut things down, or before the SAG strikes shut things down, and so on. I get those motivations, but then we get what we've been getting. So more development, another draft or two, but I don't believe it's the amount of productions that's the issue because it's not like people are spread too thin because they're directing episodes of Echo all day then shooting Agatha all night. It's different production teams, so it's more about the studio rushing their deadlines.

A YouTube channel called Corridor just posted a video about rushed VFX in movies and spoke to the head of VFX for Flash, Aquaman and Black Adam. A challenge his team faced was that they were, in fact, all happening at the same time. Sometimes artists changing movies from week to week.

So in that element, at least, it was the same team trying to do everything at once.

@fletch good point, definitely one side of production with crossover. And it's no secret the effects artists have been overworked and underpaid. I didn't even consider that aspect.

I noticed in Deadpool and Wolverine they had a few effects companies, the primary being ILM. I hadn't noticed, or if I did I forgot, Marvel using them before.

It seems like they are putting a lot on the effects companies - like CGI masks and outfits - that used to be practical. I'm sure they have worked out that it makes more sense to do that, but it seems odd to me...

Covid and the strikes have made planning difficult I am sure, but I still think they were a little unfocused and have introduced too many new heroes in a short period of time.

This is just the fogey in me, but I really hated it when they discovered nanotech masks. I liked it when Iron Man's faceplate flipped up or Ant-Man's helmet pops open. It just felt vain and lazy that they could have their masks just appear and disappear whenever they wanted. Even CW's Flash started doing it.

I get that even practical effects have digital enhancements these days, but I feel that losing the practical element completely takes away a lot of the believability, even if it's just subconsciously.

@fletch Quantumania was severely guilty of that. Helmet up, down, up down, up... down. Between that and the smeary backgrounds that would make Zack Snyder's pants tighten, there are scenes in that movie that seem purposely designed to give me a fit.

Back in the olden days you could get pilloried for things like this.
