I wouldn't mind losing the cosmic side of things. BUT - a team-up cosmic movie is a fun idea. Start with Rocket's team, wrap in Haircut (Carol) and then sure, Harry Styles and the Eternals (alt sequel title).
I'd rather them fight Galactus then the FF starting with him. That shows ZERO lessons about stakes have been learned.
That's a good question about if the rest know T'Challa is dead. That funeral scene would have been almost like Tony's, except with more bowing. 🙂 Or are they gonna call Black Panther and Shuri drops in? Honestly, this is where the MCU is failing - I don't know the relation of anyone to each other anymore! Carol could have finally returned home to lead the Avengers. Star-Lord HAS finally returned home and could lead the Avengers. Pepper could be running the organization, or as we previously discussed, Hope and Scott should be. Armor Wars feels like a great concept in a post-Iron Man world, but I feel like Riri got intro'd wrong for that to work properly and we're so many years away at this point that the concept feels stale. Also, poor Rhodey. And also, FFH kinda did a bit of that with the glasses.
One of the Phase 4 movies REALLY needed to be a Civil War-like crossover film to establish the above. Too bad Marvel spent the equivalent budget on Secret Invasion.
Having finished DD season 1, moving on to JJ season 1 - about halfway through and I think it would be great of somehow Kilgrave could return as a big bad for the Avengers (or someone) at some point - such as great and terrible character, a plot where he could get into the heads of the heroes and have them use their power for his purposes, could result in some great confrontations and issues about how to deal with him.
@fac somehow, Kilgrave returned....
No, but he was a fantastic villain. I'd say Kilgrave, Kingpin, Punisher, and Elektra were the best antagonists the Netflix Marvel shows had. Cottonmouth is an honorable mention but they squandered him. They took what could have been a Loki and stuck him in a Batroc role.
Didn't Mahershala quit and that's why they had to write him out so fast? Maybe not quit, but chose to take another job that conflicted?
Just finished watching the Assembled: The Making of The Marvels and I love these specials. This one covers SO MUCH behind the scenes information and crew and the gorgeous costumes created for Aladna - honestly, Oscar-worthy work. I wish The Marvels had a script as strong as the crew that made it.
I hadn't heard that but yeah, apparently Ali had a scheduling conflict so they wrote him out. That's a real shame.
And yes! The Marvels Assembled was really awesome. The script may have been stronger but they went to town a little too much in the editing room.
@fac somehow, Kilgrave returned....
As long as it isn't announced via a galactic broadcast, should be fine.
Of course it would undermine the JJ storyline, but better to unravel that then the culmination of the most popular trilogy of all time.
Granted, some of this might be that I am a Tennant fan when he is playing serious/angry with a side of charm.
There are a limited number of villains you can upscale to major threat that doesn't require a special effects battle to resolve. He'd be one of them.
@ru1977 I wonder about the editing of the Marvels as well. I suspect the final cut was edited by committee to make it more lighthearted, probably in some misguided notion it would "appeal to girls better" that way.
The Marvels, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and WandaVision are all things where I wonder how much was changed or skipped from the script/filiming - The Marvels dealing more head on with Carol and Monica, the whole "plague/virus" story in FatWS, and probably a more tension filled ending about the impact of Wanda's control of the town in WV.

All true. And... was there something in the JJ series that hinted he might still be out there? I vaguely remember something about that. Or was it like a fragment of him still in her mind or something?

Yeah it really felt... i dunno. It was edited to the bare minimum, then they cut it even more. Committee most likely. After how a lot of the previous movies were received, they really felt the need to chop Marvels to the bone. I said before, but Marvels and Echo are the Marvel projects I feel NEED director cuts. I love extended cuts, and would gladly take some for any beloved Marvel project, but those two seriously require it.

All really good points. With WandaVision, that would really address one of my major critiques of the show. Carol and Monica, it really feels like they felt what's in the movie was enough, but those character moments, including ones with Kamala, were the heart of the movie and need to be in there. Let those moments breathe some rather than chopping it as tight as possible to hurry up toward the next action sequence. I like action stuff, but the character moments are what I'm really watching for. Do both at the same time and it's even better.
F&WS... yeah the virus thing probably resulted in a lot of the issues I had with the show. Dominoes. but really, there was some political commentary in there that I felt could have been explored even more. Like I would love a Isaiah Bradley project showing him in his prime, but ONLY if they're going to actually go for it with his struggles.
Continuing to work my way through Jessica Jones season 1 - was loving it though Episode 8, but it kind of takes a weird turn after she captures Kilgrave and puts him in the isolation chamber. From the last few minutes of episode 9 through episode 10 we get three supporting cast members killed off that were part of the story from the start (ex-wife, girl who killed her parents, the detective), two characters played unexpected roles (cop/Nuke and sister of neighbor killed), plus his parents are put in an absurd scenario and actually would have been more interesting to me if they had been monsters.
Some odd motivations and events that only make sense to stretch the story out (did not like Hope killing herself for instance just to free up Jessica, or the sister overhearing her brother was dead only to rally the support group and not really seem surprised or bothered for too long that he was murdered and disposed of). I was unhappy with the deaths, but it was more along the lines of being annoyed with the storytelling using those as props/plot points than sadness for the characters in the world of the show. The bystander death total is getting a little high.
Thinking they had too many episodes to fill and got in a conundrum of needing Jessica and Kilgrave to interact to engage the audience, yet not be the conclusion.

I liked how they kept it a little ambiguous whether Isiah, like the rest if the "super soldiers" they tried to develop, really was too aggressive and psychologically unstable due to the serum and maybe needed to be put on the shelf for that reason - and it wasn't the issue (or that wasn't the only issue) he thought it was - especially if it was really the Hydra-infiltrated SHIELD that was actually involved in locking him up.
I totally missed it but Marvel has been referring to it as Avengers 5 rather than Kang Dynasty to the Hollywood Reporter. They're apparently renaming it
Julia Garner will reportedly play the Silver Surfer in the upcoming FF film.
She might be Shalla-Bal (which I gather was part of Earth-X) who possibly becomes a surfer in addition to or instead of Norrin Radd, so this is leading to some speculation that the FF film will be set in an alternate universe, so maybe they are active in 1968...until Galactus eats their planet and they have to leave...?

I've never been a fan of silver surfer so I don't have much feeling on the matter, but I know some are freaking out over the lady surfer. I dunno. She was outstanding on Ozark and there WERE others rumors about the FF coming from another universe too. But eh.
Her hair is such a better fit for Frankie Raye.
I know it would be all CG anyway.
