Caught Echo finally, dug it. I'd be interested in seeing more of the Choctaw origins and how those guys fit into the overall MU mythos of powered pre-human beings.
@adrienveidt you may be one of the few to feel that way but I'm with you. I loved that they included that and that's a great idea to show how they fit in with others, like Asgardians and Bast.
Madame Web getting some pretty negative reviews. Not entirely surprised, although I assumed it would just be kind of there, but it is getting the Mobius treatment.
I am curious if the goal was to launch a Spider-Woman film series?
I'm not surprised either. Apparently the best line in the trailer ("He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders just before she died") isn't in the movie, but that's a trend in trailers lately. And I don't even mean that as a negative because it's cool when trailers don't ruin a bunch of things for the audience, while still giving a solid indication of what to expect from the movie. I feel like the MW trailer did that.
I dunno... I don't hate that these movies exist but they aren't drawing me to the theater at all. I wouldn't have watched the Venom movies if my son hadn't been so curious about them. And they were somewhat enjoyable despite being not great. I keep saying though that I'm not interested in the movies themselves but I am interested in figures from them.
Official cast for FF: Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Josephy Quinn and Ebony Moss Bacharach, so the same people leakers knew about months ago.
I keep tryign to post the Valentine's Day poster they did for the announcement but it's art showing the cast.
Also FF and Thunderbolts switched release dates, Thunderbolts is now first on 5/2/25 and FF is 7/25/25
Vanessa Kirby is such a get, she's incredibly talented.
Interesting that HERBIE is in that artwork.
Also wondering if the artwork has kind of a retro appeal on purpose? That Marvel logo is very 1960's-ish, as are the starbursts and the furniture to some extent. I have speculated that a story beat could be that that their test flight occurred in the 1960's but they went so fast (near speed of light) that they return 60+ years later, which was not the plan, and that mishap also caused them to be exposed to the cosmic rays...so they could have been part of SHIELD and knew Peggy and so on, maybe knew Pym and Howard Stark....
I also would love it if Doom is therefore 100 years old if he is Reed's peer, kept alive by his armor and sorcery...
I am curious if Krasinski was their first choice but turned them down? Or if he will reappear as Reed via Multiverse shenanigans?
I agree on the sixties look. It's a cool idea.
I noticed Herbie too. In the figure thread, I was wondering if they'll do one with Franklin for Mother's Day.
Vanessa Kirby is such a get, she's incredibly talented.
She is uber talented. She looks the role, is a great actor AND her last name is KIRBY. She can play nearly anything so no worries there; no matter what direction they take the character.
Pedro is out of left field a little bit but clearly has major upside as he is a very talented actor.
Cousin from the Bear is pretty inspired. He clearly has self hating working class guy down. He does a great Chicago accent; want to hear his New York one now.
I would have gone with a different Stranger Things actor for Johnny. Joe Keery seems to have the vapid popular kid who comes thru when the chips are down thing down pat. Like the guy they chose too. At least they know that Johnny needs to play younger than the other 3 for it to work.
Whether this film is set in the 60s or not the FF should have a mid century modern look to it. The Incredibles knew that. Baxter building should look like a cross between a Noguchi coffee table and an Apple store on its surface and like a clean Millennium Falcon in its guts.
Maybe they even went to Keery but actors tend to want to stretch more than do something close to what they're known for.
New logo is cool. Definitely a retro kinda aesthetic, so sixties would follow.
Nothing against the cast but I'm so glad Fan-four-stic is done with.
@ru1977 True. Scheduling plays a huge role in it all too. Keery showed a broader meaner dimension in Fargo. Still has tons of the misplaced cockiness in both roles.
Ah damn. I've still never even tried Fargo so I was completely unaware he appeared on it.
