For me, these episodes keep getting better with each one.
Even though I was braced for it (and it happened differently in the comics, right?), it was still a heartbreaking ending to me. But for an episode with absolutely no Daredevil, it was compelling as hell!
Slow, but good. I enjoyed it. Episodes 2 and 3 definitely feel the same as the Netflix show. Episode 1 just felt a little off, I'm sure it's because they had to salvage this project. I have a feeling we'll see more unevenness throughout.
I watched the first two episodes of Born Again, but then decided to put a pin in it and do a full rewatch of the first three seasons first and flow through that way. I'm a couple of episodes into Season two, and I have to say - freshly off of the Season finale of Season 1 it seems a little hard to believe that even 10 years later Wilson Fisk could be elected Mayor - the guy staged a jail break on a borough bridge which was televised live where his men gunned down police officers and FBI agents - like, I get voters can forgive a lot, but murdering police seems like a stretch, even for cynical New Yorkers.
This plot-line might have felt unbelievable 10 years ago but I'm sure if our president shot a cop on live TV his supporters could do the mental gymnastics to justify it
@panthercult I barely started rewatching a week before Born Again started, but I'm still continuing it between Born Again episodes. Last night I got to the one where Punisher flips out in court then is taken to meet Fisk in prison.
It would take a lot for them to ever top season 2 for me. I was never a Punisher fan but that season turned me completely around on the character, and their portrayal of Elektra may always be one of my favorite on screen versions of a comic character.
"And the jury finds the defendant: Not guilty" the 3rd episode was awesome EXCEPT for the last minute. Killed off White Tiger too early, wanted to see more of him BUT instead they decide to put boring frank castle again. i understand i guess, some characters will disappear pretty fast in order for the series to continue. Wouldnt mind a White Tiger figure from the series.
The song they picked while White Tiger was getting suited up was underwhelming, could have picked a more badass upbeat song. the court scenes were pretty intense, i liked them. the way Hector died was real lame too, just walked up to him in a corner LOL thats a major L for the writers.
Side note: Cherry the investigator was wearing a NY Mets hat, awesome!!!
Frank Castle? Boring? The prison fight would like a word with you
I probably mentioned before but I would love for a White Tiger series to spin off from this, with Angela and Ava taking up the mantle. Could be a fantastic marvel series exploring family and culture.
