This news, if true, is certainly a step in the correct direction. But I also would prefer if everyone kept wearing their iconic outfits because those outfits are iconic specifically because they never changed in the original animated series. No one allows an idea to actually take root anymore before pulling it up and planting a new one.
I think the point of the show IS that it's nostalgia. I assumed the return to older "unseen" previous costumes was because that's all they had in storage on Muir Island. Part of the allure of the cartoon is that you can portray the characters in their normal colorful comic costumes and now we're getting the black leather outfits that make the team look quintessentially non-90s. The speed at which they tore through the various storylines in the previous season made most of the storylines feel under-serviced. We've just now beaten Bastion and it's off to kill Magneto and have Wolverine's adamantium ripped out. Season 2 is already set up for the Blood of Apocalypse / DeathGambit, the Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix and now they're shoehorning this in? Storm was without her powers for maybe what, 2.5 episodes? Wolverine's on track to get his metal back likely just as quickly. The only way I'd see these costumes working (how's it going to work for Beast anyway?) is if these are just their "walking around NYC" clothes, but even then, the cartoon/comics previously established they tend to favor civilian clothing in most cases.
@magnusprimal sweet, more for me then!
You’re welcome to them. I know some people like those designs. I always hated them.
I’ve never been a fan of these outfits, but a big part of that is because I loathe Quitely’s art. Not much of a Morrison fan either.
LOL... I just got done conplaining about how terrible I thought the Morrison era costumes were in another thread, so of course they announce this is what they'll use for the toon in future episodes. But, a change of costumes was inevitable so they can sell figures of the main cast in the '97 adjacent figure line to everyone again.
I am happy for everyone that has wanted figures of these costumes as those will be inevitable as figures now.
I'm gonna be pissed if this is how we wind up getting classic Illyana... but I'll still eagerly buy it.
I love Morrison era.
Those costumes were nothing more then "JUST LIKE IN THE FOX MOVIES, but with more yellow" to me.
Astonishing costumes is a way to go. But, we will see...I think it was Beau DeMayo idea to have these costumes in season two. I don't think the show will be as successful as the first season. The third season is likely to be the last, due to low ratings or something, if it comes out at all. Not sure about the new showrunner...Hope it's good.
That said, if the figures look good, maybe I'll buy them too. Goddamn x-men toys, don't tempt me...
The Morrison era is for the bad bitches only, old fogeys to the back!!!!! OUR TIME HAS COME
I hope the show lasts more then 2 seasons. I would like a good 4 or 5 out of it, especially with how short the seasons are nowadays. Wolverine and the XMen got canned way too soon, and Evolution I thought should've had a little more to it as well. I love XMen and as long as it's good, I will keep asking for more. I honestly even enjoyed the worst of the Fox movies, for different reasons. Were they anything spectacular? Not really. But it was still fun to see the characters on screen. Unless they completely muck it up, then it's just "why?"
If the show lasts long enough to get to the Astonishing suits, that’d be really cool.

At the pace the show goes, it could be a few episodes and they’ll be in those Astonishing uniforms.
The best part of this news is that we’re one step closer to a Stacy X action figure.
I had no idea there was a demand for Stacy X. I’d rather have Beak or Blob Herman.
