My favorite Wolverine head is from the 5pk, the one where his face is all banged up and swollen. I think that's mostly achieved with paint/print, but could look really good as a plain Logan head. The second best to me also came in that pack, but with a screaming expression. This one was repacked with the hot claws figure. I would use that on this animated body.

I wanna see more pics of everyone!

Man I have this Wolverine pre-ordered but the more I see it now the less I'm impressed by it.. same as the other user mentioned, is it that much different than my Apocalypse BAF one?

I think the boring masked facial expression is what's making me inching closer to cancellation.

Man, I'm just here debating whether or not to cancel Wolverine and I thought I had another month to think on it.  He looks good, just more of the same.  Seeing video reviews of him side by side with other Wolverine figures, I find myself asking, "Don't I already have this?"  Yep, I guess I'm at that stage in life.

Yeah, this is cool for new collectors who don't have any yet.   But I'm good with my current Wolverine.  I had the Love Triangle one on my shelf for a while, then I swapped him out with the Apocalypse wave one.  I think I'm in the minority, but I prefer the darker yellow on that one better.  The bright yellow looks too cheap and plasticy to me.  Plus I really like the shade of blue they used on the Apocalypse wave version.  And the yellow on the Apocalypse wave Wolverine is close enough to the Retro wave brown suit version, so I can swap the heads and give him an angry or neutral head depending on how I'm posing him.

Yes, the claws look better on this new one, but I replaced his claws with metal Can of Beams claws anyway.  And being pinless, I don't care.  If the pins stand out because they're a different color, like on Spider-Man, then they bother me.  But if the pins are the same color, it's really not a big deal to me.

Totally agree with this. Nice to know I'm not the only one!

As for Wolvie, I used to try to keep just one version of each character in my collection, so the brown costume from the Juggernaut wave has been my only Wolverine since it came out. However, my self imposed rule has been thrown out the window so I'm happy to add an updated tiger stripe Wolvie to my collection.

Oh, as for the head, I'm thinking of snagging one of these:

Unless I can get this Wolverine on a good sale, I’m just going to wait till we see what we’re getting for his anniversary.

I think we had this conversation in the old forum, but that was obliterated so no one can prove it.

I'm down for the Apocalypse wave Wolverine as well for all of the above reasons PLUS uniformity.  This is my X-Men team, all of the golds match and I love it.  Yes, it's yellow in the cartoon and in the vast majority of comic art.  Oh well.  I dig this look.

I don't know, I think this Wolvie looks like a huge improvement over the previous tiger stripes.  Pinless joints, nicer colors, much better claws and masked headsculpt.    I'm definitely still pretty excited to get him!

I think he can kick higher than previous Wolverines.  There might be a little extra movement, I don't know, I haven't played with MLs much lately.

I'm in the same camp as you guys. I pre-ordered Wolverine and I've been debating with myself whether or not I really need it. Pin-less joints don't exactly blow my mind as much as they do some people, so that really isn't much of a factor for me. (Unless they stand out like a sore thumb). I already have multiples of the Apocalypse Wolverine and I really don't like rebuying figures I'm already perfectly happy with.

I do like the claws on the '97 Wolverine, and the brighter yellow is more comic accurate, but I don't like the bland expression and oversized fins on the masked head.

On the other hand I really like the head-sculpt on the Apocalypse figure, and I like the blue a lot better as well. Plus, as mentioned earlier, I like being able to swap out the heads with the brown suit Wolverine, so I can have him with either calm or angry expressions. Decisions, decisions.

Luckily I PO'd with Amazon, and they've been sucking so bad lately with delivery estimates I probably still have about 3 months to decide whether or not to cancel.

I wasn't really paying attention to this line because it's mostly figures I have, but you guys might be talking me into picking up Wolverine. And Bishop, but him I was already eyeing.

Bishop's matte face sculpt looks awesome, imo.  His gun might be made of chewing gum, though.

Do the old Wolverine heads snap onto this new torso?  I'm sure I'm in the minority as an old guy, but I prefer his mask fins to be close to the head, not spread out.  So if the Apocalypse or Love Triangle heads fit on this guy he's a decent upgrade for any era.  The claws on the Apocalypse and Love Triangle figures were an abomination in particular since they NEVER stay straight, but these new ones mostly do stay straight.

As far as I can tell the first use of the splayed-out mask fins was in 1983 on this cover shown below.  Note that the little Wolverine head in the upper-left corner doesn't even use this style but the closer version that had been used up until this point.  Later Jim Lee applied this mask style to the tiger stripe costume, and from there the animated series and the Capcom games used it, so I get why most people aren't even familiar with the closer head fins that he had from 1975 to 1983.

I think I will definitely be buying Wolverine and Magneto. My family 3 pack Magneto's mask doesn't go down to his chin and it bugs me. I'm on the fence about Bishop. Storm, Rogue and Gambit are easy passes-I think. Lol. I don't need another mohawk Storm and I'm happy with the Target Rogue and Gambit.

So with all this talk about about the new tiger stripe Wolverine figure coming out, it got me thinking about which of Logan’s costumes is the most popular, yellow or brown?

The yellow and blue was his first look, and he wore this costume from GSXM #1 throughout most of the Byrne/Claremont years, in what is arguably the greatest era of the X-Men ever. As a result, Logan was sporting the old “yellow spandex” during the “Dark Phoenix Saga”. Which (again) is arguably the greatest X-Men story of all time. A story so beloved it inspired two separate movies, neither of which came even close to being as good as the comic books were.

Then there is the classic brown costume. Right before Byrne left the X-Men, he redesigned Logan’s duds, presumably to make them look more appropriate for a guy called 'Wolverine'. And to make him look less like the mascot for the Michigan Wolverines (whose team colors are yellow and blue). This was the costume he wore in his first mega hit solo mini-series, and during the original Secret Wars, etc. He sported that look for more than 10 years (all through the 80’s and into the 90’s) until someone decided to put him back in the yellow suit for some reason that I still don’t understand. He had been wearing the brown costume for so long that it had definitely become his iconic look. I really felt there was no need to change it. IMHO anyway.

So, which is your favorite Wolverine costume? If I could only choose one, I would probably go with the brown because I think it looks better. But when all is said and done, he ended up wearing the the yellow for longer, (and during the Animated Series). So I think they’re probably both equally iconic. Which one is best is basically just of matter of preference.
