Main additions I want for next wave are first form Bastion, Brown costume Wolverine, Sunspot, proper size Morph, Beast and Jubilee. And actually, an improved Sebastion Shaw would be nice too.
I would not be shocked if they made at least one more 97 figure this year and I prefer it to be Beast.
Yeah...I remember that garbage Toys R Us X-Men Wave. "The Dark Age of The X-Men". When I saw promo pictures, I was happy, that we are getting a new Magneto figure. And then I realized it was just a crappy Toy Biz Punisher mold...
Wow this show was amazing. Certainly fast-paced as Norm mentioned. But I liked it a lot. So many fun cameos in that last episode! 90’s armors for Iron Man and Crimson Dynamo! Blew my mind!
Loved Bastion in this. I have the Haslab, so I’d want a figure of the Second Coming style robot body.
Agreed that Wolverine barely did anything. But everybody else was awesome and made me like them a lot more. Particularly Cyclops, Rogue, Storm, Gambit, and Magneto really shine.
I would rate this show very highly along with some of the best Disney+ content like Andor and Mandalorian.
Honestly, I wanted to love She-Hulk. I’m a lawyer myself. But I hated how the Wrecking Crew were used. And the ending negated the entire show. Like the entire plot led to nothing. I was hyping the show up for my daughters so much, but it ended so flat.
I binged up to the last episode of X-97 last night and had to stop myself from starting the finale at 2am. Excited to finish it tonight.
Andor is in its own category of awesomeness.
I've liked and disliked plenty of the MCU Disney+ stuff, but the only one I want to fight about is She-Hulk. That's one of the most bang-on film or TV adaptations the MCU (or anyone really) has ever done, and I love it.
Outside of the finale, I really enjoyed She-Hulk.
Agreed that Wolverine barely did anything.
And that's just fine. In fact, having the guts to put Wolverine on the back burner and let all of the other characters be compelling on their own is just another win for this show. This is what I wish DC would do with Batman.
If the show means more Bastion figures then I am totally down for it, even though I have the more modern one from the Sentinel set! I would easily buy his "human" version as well as the "Purifiers" winged look!
I would not be shocked if they made at least one more 97 figure this year and I prefer it to be Beast.
I would given that during the forum downtime Dan Yun said it wasn't happening.

Finished last night. Show is great.
Norm is not wrong though in his critiques. Without getting into spoilers the show definitely just *has things happen* at times, and blows right past anyone addressing it or even acknowledging it. I don't mind that they mashed a bunch of story elements together per se, but I do think some time to breathe would have been a boon. Either way the show was fantastic and I'm glad it exists - excited to see where they go next, hopefully with a few more episodes and more room to work.
I don't mind breakneck pace if/when it makes sense. I grew up in the '90s, I read plenty of these books. But even then, it was more for the art than the stories, which let's admit, weren't always presented in the most practical ways. My preferred reading era was the Oughts, which I know isn't everyone's cup of tea. But I definitely prefer the decompression (not necessarily as prolonged as Brian Bendis would do) and an earned build up to a pay off. This show was like eight to ten different pay offs with like a few fleeting moments that built up to them. Like they were done for the sake of animating them into a TV show. That's not for me, and I don't think it did justice to the characters or stories on which they're based. Sure, not all of that could fit into a series, but maybe all of those pay offs shouldn't have been smooshed in either.
I thought the cameos and teases were fun, because why wouldn't all of these other heroes be aware of cataclysmic events happening around the world? It was cool to see how friendly neighborhoods and far off kingdoms were affected. But follow through, please. Give some background as to why and how they'd be involved. Establish relationships with the X-Men. I'd love to see Carol Danvers show up to interact with Rogue so people actually understand why she's the powerhouse she is. (Was that ever even covered in the original series?)
Agreed that Wolverine barely did anything.
And that's just fine. In fact, having the guts to put Wolverine on the back burner and let all of the other characters be compelling on their own is just another win for this show. This is what I wish DC would do with Batman.
Agreed. Wolverine is and has always been my favorite X-Man. But I will fist-fight anyone that claims he isn't also over-exposed. I mean, it's been a long-standing joke that Wolverine is basically on every team, appears in more titles per month than anyone else, etc etc. And he was very much of a focal character of the original cartoon. He's the only X-Man to get solo movies (like fucking three of them?) and he's co-starring for DP's third outing. The character, much as I adore him, is everywhere.
Would I have complained if he remained a main focal character? Nope. Love him. But I'm also just as fine with him barely being present. He was there -enough- to satisfy a fan like me, while allowing all of the other characters to actually matter.
Hell, I'm a card-carrying Scott hater and this show made me kind of like him. Except the baby Nathan thing, but that was just really bad writing for one specific piece of dialogue so I can let it go.
I expect, given the circumstances, that Wolverine will factor (get it? GET IT?) more heavily into the next season. Too bad shows come out so slowly these days that I'll probably forget this show exists by the time it comes back.
But guys... ALL those cameos and a show that features Cable and they don't even -cameo- Shatterstar in the background of even one scene? Come on. This was my chance to maybe get another Shatterstar figure.
Yeah, I didn't mind other characters taking focus over Wolverine. I think the live-action movies and the cartoons set around then- Evolution, Wolverine & the X-Men, etc. kind of tricked us into thinking that Wolverine was THE main character. Don't get me wrong- he's always been popular and always had a big role, but one could argue that Cyclops is more the main character at times. The nice things about comics and comic arcs is that it allows different characters to step into the spotlight and shine. I feel like this season belonged to Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, and Magneto. To lesser extents, Storm, Jubilee and Sunspot. I'm sure that, as the series progresses, other characters will step in and out of the spotlight. I'd love to see more from Morph, personally, and I'm eager to see which timeline he ended up in. I think Beast could go for a little more development too, as could Bishop and Nightcrawler. It seems like Beau DeMayo really cares about these characters and knows in what capacity to use them; he obviously has some big plans, so I'm eager to see them play out (and really hope that he gets brought back for season 3 and beyond, unless his plans are somehow brought to a natural conclusion at the end of season 2, which doesn't seem likely).
Anywho, on the figure front- the wave 2 I ordered from EE shipped yesterday. Was this close to grabbing some that I saw at GameStop yesterday, so I'm glad I waited. Still thinking of grabbing a 2nd Jean to display her Madeline head, but I'm cool with GQ for now. Gotta ship my Wolvie from BBTS, and then I'll only be missing Gambit and Rogue.
I know Dan said no wave 3 this year, but I wouldn't be surprised to see at least a confirmation it's happening, and maybe a pipeline reveal of who's in it. Plans are changing all the time over at Hasbro, and with the cutback on Marvel material this year (before the surge of it again next year), I wouldn't be surprised to see another wave make its way in somewhere. Not holding my breath, but at least we know it's happening eventually.
I love Wolverine; he's always been a draw for me when it comes to ANY book or Marvel story. And I get not needing him to be the spotlight character. But my issue with how this instance was handled was that he was on standby for nearly the entire season, and then suddenly came in to do this major thing at the end as if everyone else but Morph hadn't forgotten he was there. And he got punished in the worst way for it. X-Men '97 Wolverine didn't earn his pay off. They threw it in to literally insert a famous splash page onto the screen.
I thought the show was just about perfect, it's my favorite adaption of any comic book ever, more than anything in the MCU, any X-Men movies even good ones like X2 or Logan, more than any DC or Batman movie, I loved it. I can't wait for season 2, I'm way more hyped up for season 2 than I am for seeing mutants in the MCU.
But guys... ALL those cameos and a show that features Cable and they don't even -cameo- Shatterstar in the background of even one scene? Come on. This was my chance to maybe get another Shatterstar figure.
I mean... they even did a whole thing on Mojoworld and didn't sneak an easter egg of him in there either? Sad day for your boy

Dan said a wave isn't happening, but I think individual figures that tie into the show are still a possibility, like Cable. I would love for them to release a more cartoon-accurate Beast this year!
