Just got Bishop in and added him to my MAFEX/Legends hybrid X-Men corner. Really solid figure and meshes well with everyone else on the shelf, even though he is "cartoon". I was surprised with how matte and premium the figure looks, the head sculpt is particularly well done. Need to find him a bigger gun and maybe a power effect, and eventually I'll replace his scarf with a redder wired one made of cloth, but for now I'm really happy I picked him up.

Hope this cartoon keeps giving us more X-Men. I really want them to reissue the old 90's Cable, he still looks like he holds up well, but I missed him.

Bishop is the figure that makes me desperately want a 100% new Cable in this line.  He's such a huge improvement over his previous figure, I want Cable in his cartoon outfit to get the same treatment.

I got Magneto and Goblin Queen for the same reasons.  Both had strong storylines in the cartoon which pushed me toward buying the figures, and both are looks for the characters that we have not seen in toy form before.

Unfortunately these are both strictly mediocre releases, IMO, nothing terrible, but nothing extraordinary either.

The good:  The bothy look like they should*, the head sculpts are both spot on to the show.  Magneto's bicep-high gloves are sculpted  (sad that that simple detail counts as a plus, but this is a toy line where those would be painted on 9 times out of 10).  The baby is really cute.

The bad:  Stiff capes on both limit movement.  This is especially hindering for Goblin Queen who can't stand on her own because of the heels.  Your one hope is to stand her legs straight up and down (if the the legs are spread even a little, forget it).  The left side of her cape is longer than the right and since it's so stiff, it acts like a tripod and she can balance on that.  If you decide to go fodder bin diving for some flat feet, then that will make the left side of the cape longer than the actual figure, so she'll be crooked.  She's essentially a statue.  Her head has little movement so the only way to get her to look straight is to arch the back as far as you can.  There's a serial number stamped onto her cape which you can see between her legs.  As mentioned above, Hasbro Hasbroed her upper thighs.  Magneto has no effects.

Like I say, they LOOK fine, but these are not standout releases by any means.  If I had a do over I think I'd leave these on the shelf.

The baby is really cute.

Agree with everyone who said the Madelyne name drop at the end was weird in that context. They should have had Jean recognize the name or something to explain it, like "Oh, grandma's name," or something. Doesn't have to line-up with the comics or anything, but it felt rushed. On the flip side, I like that they didn't feel like they had to explain why Roberto is just hanging out at the mansion watching movies with Jubilee. A good example of trusting your audience doesn't need to know every little detail. As for the Goblin Queen name, I just chalk it up to Sinister's influence. Maybe he picked the name out since it was when his influence was taking over that she went all evil wizard on the mansion.

i could be wrong, but after rewatching it, it sounded like young jean screamed "Maddie" instead of "Annie" when her friend got hit by the car in the flashback. If so, that would be a very nice connection that would actually make sense for the name (in the cartoon universe)

@spideyboy1111 according to the closed captioning, it's Annie. That certainly would have been another place where they could have made a connection though, but chose not to.

No that figure is a disappointment.  Nice figure, but only his upper half is accurate.  This is the time to do a dedicated one.  Not to mention it will have pinless joints.  It's atop my list.  Nothing from 2018 should be acceptable in this line, not for me anyway.

Hell yes.

Bishop is excellent.  I want something of that caliber.

I think it's funny that the Goblin Queen figure is censored.

Is she censored or is she based on an earlier character design? Because the Funko has the exact same "censoring".

There's no guarantee that a new Cable, even in the 97 waves, would be pinless. 97 Gambit, 275 3 pack Forge and the recent 2 pack Sabretooth are evidence of that.

I'm thinking to get them out in time they used early artwork of the show before some changes were made and that's why she has black thighs. If they were gonna censor her, them bewbies would be fully covered. They usually use early designs for their figures, have been for years. Hence why alot of MCU stuff is inaccurate and they keep redoing them later to fix the the problems.

Got Nightcrawler yesterday, and swapped the head and tail with the previous release. Happy to have an upgraded Kurt now.

Kurts tail comes off? I didn't know that. Is it just a pull it out? Is heat necessary? Or a bad idea because of the plastic the tail uses?

@fenrys

True.  Pinless joints aren't the most important thing, I just want an accurate Cable from head to toe this time.  Figured it'd be pinless but who knows.  Just glad the show and toys are doing so well that more will be coming.

Simple boil-and-pop. Gentle pressure near the base and the tail popped right out. Applied cold water to it and it then popped right into the updated body. No fuss, no muss. Attempt at your own risk.
