Not a fan of these clones like Ben Reilly or Madelyne Pryor. Clones would be babies, not exact copies of a human with some or all of their memories.
On the other hand most of Stan's stories start with a little science and then get extended into pure fantasy, so if I can accept the X-Men or a Spider-Man then Ben and Maddy aren't really all that different.

Yea, if you can accept a world where super powered people run around in spandex and lingerie and fight each other, then force growing clones to adulthood really isn't that much of a stretch when it comes to suspension of disbelief
I have not watched a single episode yet. Gonna wait til there is more episodes and find some way to binge watch it. However, if this show actually gets to the Mutant Massacre and do it justice within the confines of the rating system, I will be impressed. That and also force Wolverine to don the brown and tan outfit so we can get a pinless new version of Brown and Tan Wolvie. Also maybe a better rerelease of classic Sabertooth. Classic Betsy and more Marauders too since Sabes and Vertigo are getting lonely
It looks like the Mutant Massacre is actually going to be covered in the prequel comic to the show, the first issue of which was just released this week. The final page is clearly hinting toward Mutant Massacre.
I too would've loved the storyline to be a bit longer, despite not being familiar with the original storyline. I used to love when the original animated series had its 2 parters, and I feel like this one could've benefitted from breathing a bit more. I've always liked the darker vibes to Mr. Sinister and would've loved to see him and GQ in action little more. I'm sure we'll see at least a little more of Sinister down the road, but hopefully that isn't the end of Madelyne. Not that I don't mind one-off characters, but it feels like something that deserves a little more. Same with X-Cutioner. Was a cool character and fight, but just being a one-off makes it a liiiittle bit harder for me to justify getting the figure (at least at full price).
Speaking of X-Cutioner, I went back and looked at some of his appearances via the Marvel Unlimited app. He beat Colossus! X-Cutioner’s weapons are powerful. And his armor even allowed him to catch a punch from Colossus.
It’s fun to see, because I had the original 5” X-Cutioner and played with him a lot, but I never knew his background story or really what his power set was.
Of course, he is very different in this show in terms of his personality and rationale. But still very effective in combat.
@akatsuki Honestly, the '97 figure works fine for me amongst my X-Villains! Besides, I rather prefer the more uniform color-scheme!
Agree with everyone who said the Madelyne name drop at the end was weird in that context. They should have had Jean recognize the name or something to explain it, like "Oh, grandma's name," or something. Doesn't have to line-up with the comics or anything, but it felt rushed. On the flip side, I like that they didn't feel like they had to explain why Roberto is just hanging out at the mansion watching movies with Jubilee. A good example of trusting your audience doesn't need to know every little detail. As for the Goblin Queen name, I just chalk it up to Sinister's influence. Maybe he picked the name out since it was when his influence was taking over that she went all evil wizard on the mansion.

Wasn't it pretty obvious why they were hanging out--or maybe that's what you meant? I just figured it was because they're both teenagers, but all of the other X-Men were 30+.
I feel like they should've put another story with some of the other X-Men between Jean arriving at the mansion and Beast receiving his test results and triggering the events of this episode to better pace the clone's descent into evil. They also should've simply had her say "Call me Maddy" instead of the super forced nod they went with.
Episode was still good nonetheless, just more forced 80s-90s action cartoon pacing than something more nuanced like BTAS.
You never really know how popular a streaming show is, but this one is in the conversation like few others. Even LeBron James was asking about it on Twitter. Hopefully that means good things for the show and future figures.
Oh I think so. Cable is my main want and seems like a lock after last episode. Does the baby have the green techno organic virus markings?? I want one. Interested where they take it.
EnigmaticClarity, that is a damn good synopsis. I had the Inferno comics, but not all that came before. Haven't read in a while, and damnit sold my comics last summer. Guess I can recollect.
It did feel shallow how it wrapped up so quickly, but I felt it was more of a way to just touch on a storyline that was unlikely to ever be brought into motion. It was neat seeing it. I would imagine other adaptations will be more in depth with multiple episodes. Like if they do Onslaught or something. But that seems impossible for different reasons - Joseph was essential as were The Avengers.

They explain this in the comics by saying that the clones are artificially accelerated to adulthood. They use this same explanation for the clones in "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones". The adult clones in the movie are actually less than 10 years old. The Chancellor of Kamino explains to Obi Wan that without the rapid aging process it would take a lifetime to grow a single clone.
As for the clones having the same memories as their original host, I believe it's usually explained that those are "implanted" memories.
@enigmaticclarity yes, that’s what I was getting at. He hasn’t officially joined the X-Men, but that doesn’t mean he can’t hang out with Jubilee. A less confident show would have a scene of the two talking about the situation to spell it out for the viewer before going to the TV watching scene.
Loving the show so far, though I agree episode three felt a little abrupt, and probably would have felt confusing if I wasn’t already familiar with the stories the episode was condensing. Still an enjoyable story and executed well (especially the animation).
Based on appearances, the short list for a third wave of this line would be:
Jubilee, Sunspot, Morph, Forge, and Beast. I guess there needs to be at least one villain in the wave though.
The animation is the draw (see what I did there) for me. The show is absolutely gorgeous and makes up for any crap that showed up and disgusted me on the tv screen in the ‘90s.
Hasbropulse still had Kurt in stock so I nabbed him with a few other things I wanted that were in their outlet section. I figured I may as well just in case he becomes hard to get now that the show is out.
